After a long day of trainings, our group ventured over to the town center for dinner. Before heading into the restaurant we decided to pop into BaM. 'Twas a dangerous decision for our wallets! The store appeared to be in the process of shifting its collections, and that did not result in a bad customer experience. We were able to navigate (despite the shifting shelves) through sections that appealed to our diverse tastes. When we couldn't find a specific title, a member of the BaM crew worked their magic, manifested the book, and made our afternoon! There was an issue with a QRcode and coupon, the clerk was so helpful. Each of us got what our book-nerd hearts needed, and at a great cost. We each purchased three books (that will not languish in a TBR stack for too long, scout's honor), and paid less than $50 which feels like a total steal! Thanks, BaM. read more

Have always liked B-a-M and it is one of the last book stores you'll find in malls. In days past every mall had a Borders and a Barnes and Nobel; now it's just B-a-M. I have noticed that's the B-a-M Sci-Fi and Fiction sections keep getting smaller and smaller. I didn't interact with any employees during this visit although several did walk past me in assisting others. read more

The service is really great here. An employee was about to go on break, but she rang up my order anyways. The selection is quite large. Anything you can't find is most likely available online. I really like this book store, i miss boarders a lot though. But this one has survived the digital era pretty good! Nice spacious building still enforcing masks wear by paper only. They now chasing around like last year. I put it on just out of curtsey. Lovely staff never had issues with them, had to take a break from the mall n this location cuz there was a guy that memorized my visits n would try...TRY when i say "Try" i mean like follow me around the store n throw pick up lines at me even after i said im not interested. Now i just pop in n out. I know, I know i could've just told the staff, but i got a bad habit of dealing with my own problems my own way. Then vs now? Place has a mess in some areas, most rows are clean. It is understandable, i have noticed many store look under staffed. Saw the register people n hardly no floor runners or associates. Store usually carries mix stuff, books n magazines. Mangas n comics. Shirts n toys, collectibles and all sort of stuff. Voodoo doll anybody? Lol they even have pillows that look like logs and a mini travel grill for u people stuck in traffic so long that u decided to just hunt n grill your own dinner. Tips? They usually offer free coffee with your receipt after buying something. Don't forget if you are a member? They tend to put the 10% off coupon printed in the receipt now. I haven't seen a Barnes and noble here in Florida so when I stumbled on this bookstore I was excited. I'm planning on driving back to New York soon and looking for an map from here to there. An atlas was found and I only purchased three books. I did very good staying within my budget of $40. Staff was helpful in locating the sections I needed. Prices are reasonable. read more

I came here Christmas Eve trying to find a book for a gift for a friend of a friend. There was maybe 10 minutes left before closing. I wish I could remember the man's name who was literally making every effort to make sure I found the perfect book. It was a certain type of Bible so it had to meet certain parameters such as having indexed tabs, kjv, etc. It took longer than 10 minutes to find whatever they had but this guy did not care and he went out of his way to help me to find anything that would help. It was so kind and thoughtful. Even though I don't need a Bible, if I ever need just a book I will come back to this store just for the kindness and thoughtfulness I received from him. read more

Ahhhh, book stores are the bomb!! I've tried reading books on kindle but just didn't enjoy it. Have to be holding that book and turning the pages and seeing how close to the end your getting. I digress... this store is packed with books, trinkets, board games, children's area, magazines and very nice employees. Although I wanted to pick up every book and buy it, this time I walked out with two stuffed animals for my grandsons, lol! That's the danger of this store being in a mall and you walk through it to get to the parking lot! This is a dying industry. #241 I love book stores. Every time one closes (Borders) I feel like we all lose a part of what makes us...us. That said it's great to have a large thriving book store in the Brandon/Riverview area. In the Brandon Mall, which makes parking tough, this malls parking scheme was designed by numbskulls, it sometimes is worth the effort. Books-A-Million has what seems to be just that, millions of books. Certainly something for all tastes. In addition to that, various related merchandise is scattered around the store for your shopping pleasure (I'm eyeing a Simon, remember those?). Equipped with a nice cafe type snack/coffee bar and my favorite feature, one of the walls is nothing but magazines. You name it, they got it. This is a very large store, clean, well lit and helpful staff, allow time to leisurely browse. Time well spent. read more

I enjoy going to bookstores and would prefer shopping at these locations over the online retailers. However BAM lost my business today. I was checking out. Swiped my card and selected printed receipt on the touch pad. The young girl walked away from the register to socialize with another co worker and completely ignored me. She acted put out that she had to hand me a receipt. If you don't want to work don't bring a negative attitude towards the customers who support you. Awful read more

I really like this store! I stopped by a few nights ago after dinner and I'd forgotten how much fun this place is. Their book selection is great (I got three books - Project Hail Mary by Andrew Weir, Layla by Colleen Hoover & Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano. Three books from my TBR list from three very different genres!) and I spent around $60. They have a loyalty program but I'm not in this area very often so I didn't get the details. This store has SO much fun stuff to look at. Their pop figures, mugs, socks, backpacks, etc. are all so cute and their variety is great. Of course their book selection was great too, but all those other fun things make the trip even more exciting. Highly recommend if you're in the area! We don't have a Books A Million store close to home (this is almost an hour away for me) so it's a nice treat to come here. read more

When I walked in here I did so with every intention of reviewing it. And in my mind I said, "I've been here a few times and I'm pretty certain a 2-star is the best they'll ever get out of me." Obviously this visit dissuaded me and gained themselves an extra star. That said, while the employees are extremely (almost overly) friendly, the store still looks...cheap. Compared to Border's or Barnes and Noble I feel like this is the equivalent of having a taco from Taco Bell rather than Taco Bus (if you don't know what the means, go Yelp! for Taco Bus). My point is this: It's good/okay/satisfies-the-"craving", but when it comes down to it there are other, better, places that are just around the corner. read more

So it was my first time here and I really enjoyed my experience, other than the books and the mall atmosphere I was really shocked with the excellent level of customer service I received. The ladies in the cafe were soooo helpful offering me suggestions and making sure I felt comfortable. I'm impressed with the selection of books and novelties available in the store as well. Everything from knick knacks, to gift ideas, collectibles and hobby items. I had the lavender chai latte which I first noticed it was very aromatic and oddly kinda tastes like creamy air freshener. Books-A-Million coming to the Brandon Mall was like a dream come true. After Brandon's old book store closed down a while ago, Brandon had lost an advantage that most other malls have. I love to browse through the aisles and check out the first few pages or last few pages of a book and get a feel if it's something I want to buy. They also sell toys here for kids and a large number of magazines and newstand items, all on display in the store. A coffee shop is found inside the store too, so your options for coffee in the Brandon Mall only get bigger. Most employees I have met here have been very friendly and are quick to help you find a book when you are searching for one. They carry a wide variety of genres and tend to be having a book sale every time I come into the store. You can't beat the convenience of it being inside the mall as well, it's major advantage over Barnes and Nobles which isn't too far. read more

We happened upon a sale just before Christmas and walked out with 5 books for about $5 when the original cost/list prices would have tallied up to about $70. I have never been here before but decided to stroll in on New Year's Day as the parking lot was pretty empty so I thought it was a great opportunity. Wow what a selection. Of course done inventory was down but the selection of topics, authors, arts and crafts etc was big. It certainly is not just a basic book store. I found costs higher than Barnes and noble though for many items (of course after I purchased them) but all in all definitely a store I will go back to when I have more time to just walk through. read more

There's always a surprise waiting for me at Books-A-Million. I live in the Northeast, but when traveling South I often find myself near one of their stores and and will invariably discover some hard-to-find I-gotta-have-it book. My most recent trip yielded a book of Tiffany art, still wrapped in plastic and selling for at least $45 elsewhere, for only $15! A real steal! Mind you, not everything is a bargain, but if you spend a little time looking around you're sure to be rewarded. I love Barnes and Nobles for the ambiance but with Books-A-Million you get just that. What seems like a million choices and all their isles are easy to locate. My favorite thing is their clearance on books and board games! Books for $3.97 then with the membership it has 10 percent off! The membership costs $17 dollars unlike Barnes & Nobles $25. And you get free wifi with your membership, Staff is always friendly and helpful with good music. read more

Looking for a hard to find book January 9 for a one year wedding anniversary for my wife that I bought a KitchenAid mixer for. The special KitchenAid mixer cookbook showed in-store availability, yes I know how to search within a store to see if it's actually there. I pick the store, I checked the availability within that store. It said in stock limited quantities. I'm only a half hour from there but it was rush-hour traffic. I get there and looked everywhere for the book. And I do mean looked everywhere. I finally gave in to ask someone to search for this books location or these books, this guy behind the information desk said I'm looking in the warehouse not in the store... I showed him where it says this particular store in store in stock etc. complete with store number and address. He continued to argue with me that it just means warehouse, it just means it's in the warehouse, it's just in the warehouse,.! Seriously? If something says available in a particular store and in stock with a green check mark next to it that means for all you people out there don't waste your time trusting it-go to Barnes and Noble. I can't believe how stupid these people are by goading people to come into the store just to create more floor traffic! I will never frequent the store again and I will make sure this review makes it to every Internet site I can put it on. I was seriously pissed off at their lies! Yes I know it's only a book, But I sat and googled every possible bookstore all over the place and that was my closest possible store to pick it up especially during rush hour traffic. Ok, so I'm a lifelong avid reader and book collector. So I buy books....alot of them. Some of them (first/special editions etc) very pricey. Reading and collecting books is pretty much my only hobby. So I'm pretty much happy in any place that has or sells books, and for the most part Books a Million is a happy place for me. Yeah their selection is decent, and if they don't have it they'll order and have it delivered to you. It's spacious and clean, and while The bathrooms aren't exactly immaculate, they're passable. There's a small cafe where you can purchase coffees, smoothies, and basic pastries along with limited seating. Their magazine selection is actually fantastic, and they have a pretty decent bargain priced selection as well. They also have a limited selection of LPs and various book themed gift items. Sounds pretty good so far right!!?? It does. That is until you need help with something. Good luck finding someone, and if you do, good luck with them having the time or care in actually helping. That is until you go to pay for your purchases. This right here is where this location, has lost this customer, who spends a shit ton on books, forever. I won't be back. Ever. First I bought some books, and upon checking out the guy asked me if I was interested in the rewards program. I told him politely, no thanks I've heard the run down before. Not interested please just ring me out. He then went on to explain how awesome the program is, how much it can save me, yadda yadda yadda, and it'll ONLY cost you 25 bux to do so. Now I'm a firm believer that spending money to save money is stupid ( that's just me) and in kinder words told him so, and again asked him to PLEASE just ring me out. He continued to push the program. Now I've worked retail my entire life, and I get that that is his job. I also get they probably have a quota of how many new members they have to sign on. But I also believe that after twice asking him to seriously please just ring me out, he should have done so. He didn't. He also went on to insult me, and make me feel like an idiot for not wanting to spend an extra 25$ on my already hefty purchase. Long story short, he extended a 3 minute transaction into a nearly 10 minute one, insulted a customer, and I still didn't buy their damn plan. Fast forward to a week later when a special edition book I've been waiting for is finally released. I happen to already be in the mall so I say screw it and try them again. I grab the book I wanted, plus 7 more, which would have brought my purchases to a bit over 300$. I go to pay. There's a woman in front of me already in the process of paying, and guess what? The woman ringing her out is trying to talk her into the rewards plan. The customer is saying no thanks, the employee continues to push it. I check the time on my cell and begin timing this interaction. As I'm waiting there's another employee behind the counter who doesn't offer to help me. Long story short....EIGHT minutes in I slam my 8 books on the counter, say " I hope that 25$ membership your trying to force on this poor girl is worth the 300 plus dollars in sales you just lost"....and left. And I won't return. The three stars are because it is a beautiful store, and...well books. But all I want to do is browse happily, grab my selections, pay for them and leave. They refuse to let you do that. So if your there and in a hurry, don't plan on actually buying anything. Driving to Barns and Noble would be faster. read more

The store manager should read this!!! I will never return to this store again!!! My son went to an interview with a man that was rude and didn't even look at my son through the very brief conversation. This to me is a simple sign of a racist person/store as we are puerto rican and dark skin.....my son is very educated.....great school grades...honors....speaks very proper....is clean cut and neat BUT the man had no time to properly interview my son because he was not white nor a female!!! The other candidates were white young girls with whom it appears the man interview perked up for them!!!! This is 2016 and yet racist people still exist and prevent other minority people from working honestly. We are a very educated family and are professionals.......we are Christians......and....my sons have never been in trouble so as a mother of two men this situation angers me!!! This store appears to only hire white people!!!! I was in this store a few weeks ago and the older man at the register proceeded to tell me his personal divorce problems....which I felt was very inappropriate but I let it go!!! Maybe that his store should look at hiring professional people and MINORITIES!!!! It is illegal to NOT hire someone based on the color of their skin!!!!! So...to other minority people do not gve your hard earned money to this store!!!! We might buy a bookstore of our own!!!! read more
