But I can only assume they have lost a lot of sales over this. Hong Kong tends to be a cash preferred society. I admire them for that but I come from a plastic society. Well, we found out from a neighboring shop owner that the Zoo Bar had shuddered a couple of months back. FLM has signage, but we couldn't tell if it was closed. We climbed up the faded rainbow steps to Queen's Road and discovered the Cafe Queen which we had to enter to get into FLM downstairs. They were still setting up, so we decided to hang out in the Cafe Queen portion of the space. It was dark and relatively quiet with a decidedly mixed crowd. I was with my two coworkers and two other friendly folks that would be our company for the night, or we thought. It's a relatively spacious venue for plenty of people to dance and get to know each other. The music was excellent for my partying sensibilities. They played K-pop multiple times which was surprising but not at all unwelcome. I love K-pop, and this will be one of the few places on the internet that I will admit that. They played a lot of dance-friendly music in general. They had a wonderful drag queen show in between the moments of dancing. Along with the interesting music was an even more interesting crowd. We encountered some white foreigners asking my friends for drugs. Meanwhile I lost track of my coworkers in the big venue as they were running around trying to meet new people. This place is excellent if you want to have fun with your friends on a weekend and not during a pandemic.

It was one of three gay bars we patronized in Hong Kong and unfortunately the most generic. That's not to say the bartender wasn't cordial. It was just that she took our order and promptly disappeared when it looked like we were the only customers for a while. We're not the gregarious type. It probably says something that I can't even remember the music that was playing. Trance, I think. The bartenders (I adore Rocky) make a strong drink and definitely do not skimp on the alcohol like they do at some of the other establishments here. Go for the old fashions, bubbles, and any other cocktail you'd fancy from a large city. They do have a mix of music videos playing (from Top 40 to Canto Pop to K-pop) with Karaoke style videos on their screen. Huge shout out to the crew there. I was talking about how I was feeling peckish and they offered noodles and curry fish balls.

Hostile Management Ruined a Professional Group Event…read more We visited last night after calling ahead the day before and being explicitly told no booking was needed for a large group. Yet, when we arrived with 12 directors and professionals on a quiet Monday night, the restaurant was almost empty, and the manager immediately told us off for not booking. He talked down to me, avoided eye contact, and made us feel entirely insignificant.We tried to have a calm conversation and mentioned we were spending money on a two-hour social gathering, but he restricted us to sit in the corner and strictly ordered us not to mingle with his patrons. He flatly stated he didn't care about our money, only his 'regulars.' To make matters worse, they forgot one of our food orders, and some of the food we did receive was subpar. It's a shame because the floor staff were sweet and kind, but hospitality starts from the top. I have never felt more unwelcome and treated with such hostility at an establishment. Avoid this place! Wasn't in the mood to take a picture I'm afraid.
