Like Lot10, but they were quite full. Like the Pacific Coffee opposite to you, Itchi, but despise coffee from big franchise coffee shops. It was hot at 3:30pm and I didn't think much when I entered your store. So part of it was my fault. I asked if you guys served coffee. You said yes, and asked what kind of coffee I'd like to order. A flat white would be good, I replied, followed by a blink look from you. You were nice enough to offer me the menu to pick from there, and I was 80% sure I was at the wrong place. Yeah. You guys don't really "serve" coffee. Not really in Po Hing Fong's standard, anyway. I, sadly, felt sorry about the situations. So instead of turning down the offer and leaving right away, I ordered a latte. By the coffee arrived, I was 100% sure you guys don't "serve" coffee. Yeah, that, and the not-so-subtle hint on the wall with all the beer stickers. Staff were nice enough and it's indeed a very cozy corner to sit down and work for an hour or two. But I can't stand their coffee. I guess it's not really their expertise, but I'll come back for their beer so that they'll have a chance to redeem the star(s).

Unfortunately when we were in HK there was a typhoon going on so it was raining outside. Fortunately this meant I could stay in the pub for a good few hours. The beer selection was amazing. Loads of draft options, but an even more spectacular bottle range. Literally 20 bottles which if your from the UK you will probably never have seen before. We ended up having around 4 beers and everyone was great. My five star rating is on the cool venue, amazing beers, great music and friendly staff. I did not try the food, but saw tonnes coming out. Every single drink we tried was absolutely incredible.. So unique, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted. You can really tell how much effort and creativity goes into each cocktail... We sat at the bar, which made the experience even better because we got to watch the bartenders in action. They walk you through each drink when they serve it, explaining the ingredients, how to enjoy it, and the inspiration behind it. It felt like more than just drinks.. it was an experience... The bartenders were super friendly, and several of them spoke English, which made everything easy and comfortable. The ambiance is exactly what you'd want: dim, chill, and upscale with a cool, laid-back crowd... It's the perfect spot to catch up with friends or wind down for the night.. They also serve food, which we didn't order at the time: but honestly, I regretted it later because everything coming out looked amazing (and I was definitely starving by the end of the night)... The menu is actually quite big, and represents the east-meets-west vibe of Hong Kong. For example, you'll find Iberico ham here in the form of char siu atop a bowl of rice and adorned by Japanese onsen egg; or braised Napa cabbage in a creamy French-style sauce with local fried shrimp. I came here with my mum, who prefers more traditional Chinese food as she's lactose intolerant, and we still had a great time. On top of that, they have a decent selection of draft and bottled beer, with a lot of local brews represented. They also have very interesting non-alcoholic choices -- again, great for non-drinking parents or friends. The lighting can be a little bit dark for some folks, but as long as anyone needed visual support has a phone with a flashlight, or a friend, reading the menu should be ok. This is absolutely the kind of place I'd chill at with a bunch of good friends.

However not a fan of the spa egg and the canard liver which seemed a bit out of place. The fried chicken and crab rice balls were both good. I liked the crab balls better and they had a nice crispness and the crab flavor shines through. Fried chicken is a substantial portion and this could be a main if that is all you are eating. The chicken is tender and has a nice crunchy exterior.

I'm a view lover and this one shows a sweeping swath of Causeway Bay, Happy Valley, and out to Wan Chai on one side and North Point on the other. Despite the flashing lights of the CWB billboards right overhead, or perhaps because of them, it feels like it's floating in the middle of that darkly urban cityscape that typifies so much of HK. If you throw in the bars with good view, either from inside a tall building, or an outdoor podium, you'll have Aqua, Felix, Cafe Grey, Red @ IFC, Armani/Prive, Hooray, etc. There are certainly more than enough for you to choose from. This bar has everything they promise, and nothing more than that. They have a 270 degree view from the HK side, overseeing North Point to Happy Valley, with the whole Kowloon under your view. It is nothing less of amazing. It is a rooftop, as promised too, which you'll see a massive billboard behind you, written "MIDTOWN", which is the name of this new building. It is a bar, it gives you alcohol. It's "by Harlan Goldstein", too, just like the Penthouse right down stairs. But don't expect more than that. It doesn't have DJ or live band here, nor proper washroom - you have to go back downstairs. The rooftop is rather big, but tables and seats are only filled half of it, probably because they don't have the personnel or infrastructure to serve the whole floor yet. And they are interesting lack of a good crowd - there are empty tables always available. I can't imagine any of those rooftop bars I mentioned above would be less busy than a full house, but hey, if I can have the view all by my own and not have to fight for it, I'm definitely not complaining. All in all, it is a very new bar, so everything is still developing, including the crowd. I'm sure it will get busier soon. We ordered a bottle of wine among three of us, which on the higher end of a standard "Causeway Bay" price tag, but I guess you have to pay for the "Goldstein premium" here.

However, given you always get a table, its near to the office and you get a full three course meal with a drink- you can't really complain. They never pushed you to return the table by a certain time and I believe they also do this deal over the weekend with a lot more alcohol involved- please check the store for details. We went to it for drinks- Joe Bananas is pretty much an institution in the Wanchai area along with Delaneys , Meis Amis, Dusk till Dawn and a number of others. Its an expat orientated environment though locals could also thoroughly enjoy themselves over a few drinks and with the usual gaggle of girls standing just a bit too close to you for comfort. The band and everything else completes the Wanchai experience and of course if you are really keen they also have t-shirts available. Why would I rate it 5 star? While I understand that it is unreasonable to expect 5-star hotel bar aesthetics in a Wan Chai bar, they could do better... and maybe put more gin or just cut down on the tonic in my G&T. I was surprised by the limited selection of bar snacks (paid and otherwise), considering how nachos seemed to be the only option there that wasn't an entree or appetizer. I've had several food offerings: one of the pizzas, s'mores, panini, chicken skewers, and seen companions enjoying the cheese plate (I'm lactose intolerant so can't comment on that.)
