It doesn't matter to me, I get to have a drink in a super cool bar so, whatever! The minute you step in through the door, you will feel like you are in Captain Nemo's living room. The decor is vintage cosy, there are dining tables down the left of the bar, and living room seating areas at the front right. The decor is eclectic, with no single coffee table, chair, or lamp matching. The furniture does look like it's been free-cycled, so beware, some of them have pretty sharp springs and things sticking out of them. The overall theme, to me, is The Nautilus. There are curved panels "cut" into the walls, with port holes decorating them. Even the front door is curved with a port hole. You are basically in an old school fantasy submarine, but just not under the sea. Food and drinks are available. Drinks menu is extensive (we're talking a variety of Absinthes extensive), and they have a decent selection of Scotch. It's not cheap, at most spirits starting above HKD100. They often have live music up in front of the bar, which is fine, but I think having a band in this sort of vintage parlour ruins the authenticity and look of Salon No.10. What they should do with that space is put in more taxidermy.

Friday and Saturday nights can get so crowded that people will inadvertently grope each other just to get to the door. Timing is really everything. The bar scene along Wyndham is already competitive enough as it is, so Tonic might serve as a good spot to score a few drinks before moving on. Happy Hour is the best time to enjoy 1/2 off all drinks and it's before the bouncers come rolling in. There is no cover charge either, until later in the night(s) when the place goes from chill to kill (me). Service also falls into the "your mileage may vary" category, as I've encountered some super friendly hostesses and solid bartenders vs DBag bouncers and apathetic managers. They will on certain nights employ a decent DJ, and while the space feels clubby at times, it conflicts with the loungey vibe. Drinks like anywhere along Wyndham are pricey. Thank goodness they take credit card, but don't go overboard with the bottle service either. They played K-pop multiple times which was surprising but not at all unwelcome. I love K-pop, and this will be one of the few places on the internet that I will admit that. They played a lot of dance-friendly music in general. They had a wonderful drag queen show in between the moments of dancing. Along with the interesting music was an even more interesting crowd. We encountered some white foreigners asking my friends for drugs. Meanwhile I lost track of my coworkers in the big venue as they were running around trying to meet new people. This place is excellent if you want to have fun with your friends on a weekend and not during a pandemic.
