CHEF TRINI's "MOTHER IN LAW" The flavor was not good and everything was turning brown.

The chopped pork sandwich was delicious. I got the OMA'S CHEESY TENNESSEE POTATOES as a side because the collards were out. They were okay. Both of their slaws were not good and not fresh. They were both turning brown and looked like it was made few days ago. Very disappointing because a good slaw is a MUST when I eat bbq pork sandwiches.

Bonfield's - picnic table area, table umbrellas and small bicycle rack

Wagshal's and Pitmasters Back Alley BBQ along MacArthur Blvd in the historic Bonfield's, a long ago garage, gas station (I remember when), and a former market... Excellent egg breakfast sandwich, now ordered twice at the back deli counter, yum. You select deli bread, bagel, or croissant. Eggs are substantial thickness, yet very light and tasty in preparation. Choice of cheese and protein was on my agenda! Delicious. Peeled a grapefruit on the patio the last time I ate this yummy egg treat. Downside, you gotta wait until the Bodega opens at 10:00 am, sorry to all those driving by the cafe on their way to work. Sweet patio hangout. Looks like tasty beer on tap. Coffees, cold drinks, cafe and ready made foods, deli items, Wagshalls $$ Haven't tried the BBQ yet, and the smells were most excellent late morning! 'Burnt Ends' noted on 'happy hour' menu, 4-6 pm. Mentioned to the patio staff that I'd order burnt ends right on top of a baked potato tomorrow, ha! Small bike rack and picnic tables out front perfect for cyclists pit stop and/or pick me up. Sorry, didn't scout a bathroom. Caution needed watching for pedestrians and automobiles while backing up onto MacArthur Blvd. Maybe safer to pull in and park in the setback driveway parking area? Plan to try something new and hang again soon!

Wow, what a dump. Can't believe how dirty it was for a new business. Over priced meat, wine and food as well. Was hoping for better.

I really liked that the condiments came separately so each guest could schmeer as much or as little as they wanted. (Or in my case, purist that I am, avoid altogether). There was also a bountiful assortment of pickles, so necessary for rounding out the sandwich with a nice acidic snap! I recommend.

We were seated immediately and had water brought to our table. Menu was extensive, with overstuffed sandwich classics like Reubens and clubs, salads and classic fare like knishes and lox. They also serve breakfast all day. I had the grilled veggie wrap. It came with homestyle potato chips. My companion had a tuna melt (solid albacore) with pepper jack cheese on an English muffin (also with chips). Both portions were huge. The veggies were still crunchy but cooked thoroughly (zucchini, squash, peopers and onions) with red pepper hummus stuffed in a huge burrito style spinach tortilla. Comfort food done well. As a bonus there was a pickle bar of half sour, full sour pickles, cornichons, sauerkraut and pickled peppers. Favorites were the half sour pickles and sauerkraut (went well with the wrap). Great meal!

St. Elmo Deli is like Waldo on that page where every other character is wearing a red and white striped sweater and hat. St. Elmo Deli is like lying down a bed, and you're like... "oh what is this a Tempurpedic?" and then the owner replies, "oh no... it's just a memory foam mattress." Ok... so St. Elmo Deli is at the bottom of that large building on Saint Elmo that essentially takes up like a city block. Across from Bach to Rock, Henry's Sweet Retreat, Dominos etc. Like the other stores at the bottom of the building, there is a vertical brown/purple decorative banner that marks the store. Go in... and you'll see the menu is almost entirely made up of a sandwich choices. I decided to get the Turkey, Swiss, and Spouts Sandwich on multigrain. I can't remember... but it had a name. It was like "The St. Elmo Special" or something. Really the main reason I got it was the sprouts. I LOVE ME SOME SPROUTS. I got home to find that there was a little quarter of pickle that was wrapped up and attached my sandwich. Extra cute points. The sandwich itself was next to perfect. It was everything I wanted in a turkey sandwich. Good bread, good amount of turkey, fresh tomato and lettuce. They didn't overdo it with the mayo, and deli meat and cheese were good quality. Next time I'm gonna ask them to toast the bread I'm telling you, it was one dank sandwich; and as it's one of those small little office building delis, the prices were on point. I got that sandwich and a bag of pretzels with everything bagel seasoning on it for 8.65. I wish they had a few more options for sides. They had pasta salad in the little drink/accessory fridge, but it didn't look to fantastic. They had bags of chips and muffins/danishes... but that's about it. Some coleslaw/ potato salad/ egg salad etc would be nice. You'll definitely see me back at St. Elmo Deli soon. Until they put a Jersey Mikes in Bethesda... ( dang I love me some Jersey Mikes), this is a solid cheap lunch option.
