It has taken me several months to decide to write this review. I much prefer to share my good experiences than the ones that are not so good. I was a customer of bones and scones for a couple of years before I decided I would never again give them my business. My family spent upwards of $300 - $400 per month at bones and scones. One of my daughters had been given a discount because she worked in the shopping center where bones and scones is located. After she stopped working there I spoke with two different employees who assured me it was fine for us to continue to use the 10% off discount. That continued on for over two years. I went in to place a special order and the manager and a female employee were both working. The manager was showing the employee how to do the special order. At the same time, I was purchasing another large supply of items. I asked the female employee if I was getting my 10% discount and she showed me that she had applied it. I came in a week later to pick up my special order and the same employee said she had no record of me having the discount on my account. As I had been using it for quite some time I thought there was an error. I asked the manager to call me. Now let me assure you I would have continued my patronage of this location due to its convenience to where I live., but the manager contacted me...and very passive aggressively and with a quite nasty tone informed me that I was no longer able to use the discount. I attempted to explain to him the situation and I was met with more subtle hostility. He was verbally venomous implying that I had done something wrong. After being interrupted more than once I attempted to explain that Iwould never expect a 10% discount nor was my choice to shop there contingent upon it. This man knew I had made a special order he was aware that he wanted to rescind my discount and instead of being a professional and calling me to explain, he decided to wait until I came in and requested to use it again. Had the manager not had my phone number on file, both in the computer and for the special order I may understand his neglectful treatment. Regarding the verbal communication based on my request, I cannot imagine why he would feel to treat me so poorly other than being a rather miserable human. I further attempted to write the owners via their website and was completely ignored. Like I've said I waited to post this review to see if I felt the same way after time passed. I generally do not take things personally but when I spend so much money at a location per year I do expect to be treated with basic respect and common decency. read more

Visiting from LA, we decided to stay an extra day and needed to pick up more food for our pup. AMAZING store. The man working (didn't catch his name) was so helpful knowledgeable and accommodating. The store has an amazing selection of healthy food. We also got some of their tasty home baked treats (no wheat/ no soy etc) and Lil Caesar devoured them. Hope to find a store like this back home. Excellent products & sweet individuals. The staff know very much about animals & how to care for them. The vitamins & Dog food (recommended) purchased at this establishment have helped bring my elder/mature dogs back to a renewed freshness of youth & Life. It is amazing how much a simple change in food can effect us and our health. There are a number of animal related (healthy) products sold at this and you will most likely not leave disappointed, because personally it hasn't happened yet. And told me to come back and let him know if he liked any of them. And I did. I haven't been able to get my dog to eat dog food for a super long time! First time going to this place! I usually go to Cold Nose Warm Heart for my dogs birthday cupcake but a friend recommended this place instead. I currently have a 4 month old baby and just carried her car seat in. There was a lady at the checkout talking to another customer. I figured I would just ask if they had any cupcakes first before going to search so I stood there and waited for her to finish with the other customer. She was having a conversation about grain in a dogs diet that lasted 5 minutes all the while I'm standing there patiently holding a heavy carseat. She doesn't acknowledge me WHATSOEVER the entire time. She even stops talking for a bit and still nothing.... Its not like I was looking around I was waiting to ask her a question clearly. The only reason Im giving this four stars is because a guy came from the back and was EXTREMELY nice and helpful. He recommended which cupcake my dog might like and even helped me with the door on the way out! Thank you! Only Because of you I will be visiting again for his treats and cupcakes. read more

Was out in the desert today and needed some dog treats. Found Bones-n- Scones and I must say I was very impressed with what they stock. I was greeted by a sweet little grey doggie, can't remember her name. The store has a great variety of well made (ingredients) dog foods. They carried both the dry (Fromms) and wet (Weruva) foods I feed my dogs. I picked up some extra cans along with a nice variety of treats. After I had checked out I noticed some dried cod fillets, the gentleman gave me a couple of samples, and my dogs scarfed them up when I got home! This place is the number one place to go for dog food since other dog food can cause many problems to your dogs health. The only thing I don't like about it is the location with the homeless around makes me uncomfortable. For 5 years i have been getting my special order dog food from Bones-N-Scones in Palm Desert. We have come cross country with our dog who is on a raw diet. They always have it waiting for us when we get here. This year, just a few days after arriving we had to put our dog down suddenly. They were wonderful. Yesterday evening was my first time in the store. I went to see what type of food they carried. I had been considering getting my puppy off his current food and into a grain free food. There was a couple types of food that I had in mind. I met with Emerson who is the store manager. Emerson in my opinion is very knowledgeable in the lines of food that is carried in his store. I shared with him a couple of things that have been going on with my puppy. Emerson happened to recommend a line of food that I had been considering and someone else had recommended as well so I knew it was good. Emerson did not try to up sale me to the most expensive food he made his suggestion based on my puppy's current needs and that impresses me, it shows me that he cares. I bought a couple of bags of Nulo Freestyle Turkey and Sweet Potato and started the transition for my puppy to get him off of his old food. I would definitely come here again to purchase the marrow bones for my dogs because they have small ones for my little chihuahuas. The reason for the three star? The man who worked there didn't seem warm or personable. I got the feeling he didn't want us there. Which was offputting as we were in such a great mood going in. Stocked FULL with nutritious food for dogs and cats at the same price as regular store bought. I wish I would have known and come here sooner. The owner and manager are tops, so willing to counsel about the right food match and knew pretty much what my chihuahua would like, they were right. Agree with other reviewers, the staff here really knows what they are talking about, and their prices are very fair considering these are high end brands. I have had dogs for 20 yrs, and this is by far the best pet store i have found. I visited this place during the week, my wife and I were worried we weren't going to be able to find primal but this store had a large variety of it which was a good thing. Only thing I didn't not liked it smelled like cigarettes in the store and the workers had a very strong order which isn't right.
