I used the shuttle service to transport my kayak and my self . I decided to do the 10 mile trip. I was looking for a relaxing trip without being crowded. I couldn't have been more pleased to be the only one doing the 10 mile trip that morning. They use a different section of the Buffalo River than the overcrowded outfitters.

Fun @ Bone's!!!

Heath's Canoe Rental - Beautiful!

Friendly and down to earth folks. Had a terrific trip. Did the 6 mile choice and loved it!read more

We came to the Heath's Canoe Rental as a company function. About 20 of us piled in our cars and…read moredrove almost two hours to be greeted by a lady who just did not seem happy to have her job. She was rude and not very approachable. "I'm just an employee" and "I don't make the rules"....if I hear either of those phrases again, it will be too soon. So a couple things to tell ya... is $38 per canoe to rent and launch. It's also $38 to bring your own kayak/canoe and ask them to drop it in. EITHER WAY your boat or not, expect to spend $38. Suggestion, ask the person dropping you off for distance references. If you take the 6 mile trek, this is what you get... "you will pass two concrete bridges, the unloading spot is about 300 yards past the second bridge on your left." Now I don't know about you, but I am not the best at judging distance on a winding river. When you have to be back by a certain time (or else you will accrue HEFTY late fees) time management is an important thing. Knowing when a halfway point is located is helpful. (For the record, the first concrete bridge is just short of half way on the 6-mile trek) At this point, if we hadn't driven two hours to get there...we would have left and gone somewhere else. It was terrible...however we continued on. The condition of the river itself was spectacular. Rope swings and plenty of clean "sand" bars to kick back and relax on. I will have to say that if I had not canoed before, the first bend with the submerged log is pretty treacherous. We did have one girl and her husband capsize and nearly drown there. This part of the river REALLY needs to be marked or cleared if it is going to be continued as regular canoe path. Be weary of the motor boats past the halfway point on the river...some of them are very careless and reckless. This rental location I will say warranted a 1-star rating, UNTIL THE END. The crew at Heath's helped us dock, unload, take care of trash in our canoes, took pictures for us, and drove our tired butts with coolers back up the hill to our cars.

Foggy Bottoms is a super cute spot with tons of charm and very friendly staff. We arrived to check in (no reservation) at 10:30am and the staff gave us a very honest warning that water levels were SUPER low. They explained the pain points of canoeing in such low water levels very thoroughly, but despite the warnings, we decided to give a go and I'm so glad we did! Because of the staffs transparency, we knew what to expect and we were prepared to encounter a few spots along the way that gave us a little trouble. All in all, it wasn't bad at all! We spent 6 hours on this 3 hour ride making tons of stops along the way to float in the inter tubes we brought along with us. Had such a great time and can't wait to come back!

What a perfect escape! It's only 30 minutes outside of Nashville, but feels like a world away…read more Only $35 for a kayak, $45 for a canoe. I've camped with them and kayaked and it's a great experience all around! Plenty of parking, then they shuttle you to the starting point of the river. Once they get your boat into the water you make your way back and it's just such a gorgeous way to spend a summer or fall day! Pack a lunch and paddle away! Staff is kind. Fellow canoe-ers and kayak-ers are fun to talk to along the way. I think my only complaint would be that many large groups go and sometimes just sit in the middle of the river in a clump and it can be difficult to get around them. That however, is not Foggy Bottoms fault. If you are looking to get outside and do something active I highly recommend you use FB. They are convenient and a great way to spend your day. Can't wait to come back soon.

The location was really easy to find, once we arrived we checked in and were offered some general information about what to do and the location of changing rooms/restrooms. We were also given instructions about the route we would be floating, the vast collection of mussels we may see, and information about other wildlife we may come across, and safteg information. The launch is a quick drive from the base location. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. They got us all set up and sent us on our way. The water was shallow, but still had some nice current in places. The Duck River was extremely peaceful, and not over crowded (the spacing out between groups from Higher Pursuits helped with that greatly). Getting picked up at the end, and knowing where to stop was also made to be a breeze. Higher Pursuits runs things like a well oiled machine and really has a great system going! Between the ease of everything, the peaceful kayaking location, and the friendly customer service I could not have asked for a better experience!

Highly recommend getting the combined museum and Loretta Lynn's (LL) house tour ticket. Our tour guide didn't seem very excited. My hubby thought she wasn't feeling well. But I could see how the right guide could take the tour to the next level. A replica of LLs old KY home is furnished with personal items, like her parents shoes. Very endearing. A replica of her tour bus is inside the museum, and you can walk through it. The actual bus is in the parking lot of the museum. The museum is quite the gem. So many beautiful gowns, and memorabilia from LL long career, as well as many other artists. Growing up, my dad would play guitar and sing Kaw-liga, so the wooden statues brought that happy memory up. Highly recommend!

There is a replica model of her Kentucky home. You get a lower level tour of her mansion, and for a certain price an opportunity to walk through her museum. Lots of memorabilia covering every aspect of her life. Including displays and authentic items from her tour and the movie Coal Miners Daughter. The museum is a little overwhelming and doesn't always flow well. The highlight for me is the actual jeep used in the movie Coal Miners Daughter. One note...you do not get to visit her graveside. Certainly understandable but a little disappointing. Any country music fan needs to visit the Loretta Lynn ranch, any fan will be pleased and blessed to visit
