The restaurant is really nice and upscale inside. It has super comfy chairs and booths and had a clean, modern aesthetic that suits the location really well. It's right next door to Aloft hotel in park place, and since my office is just across the street at Aspiria it was easy to find and the parking garage was super empty the night I went. There was a special on the appetizer menu for fried oysters and French fries, but I got bbq oysters. The oysters were in the ballpark of chargrilled oysters you get in NOLA. Not exactly but similar enough, you know, butter, cheese, probably a little garlic and seasoning, very good. The oysters were tasty, although pretty expensive, and I only got 5. I don't know if this odd numbered food items is a KC thing or what but 6 please! I mean I can get a dozen in NOLA for just a couple dollars more. I know, I know, it's KC and we have to ship them in, but still. Since I didn't get the French fries I ordered the duck fat fries to go with my bbq oysters and they were good. You could really taste the duck fat, but it wasn't overpowering. The fries were crispy, but maybe a touch too much salt for my taste. All in all very good. I also splurged and got the waffle dumplings. They are veggie dumplings and were probably my favorite thing. Crispy and delicious. They are pressed and have the waffle pattern on them, hence the name. A lot of the menu is very Thai fusion, which makes sense, but be aware that it's not just a seafood place like the Bristol or Ocean Prime. Kinda pricey! My meal was $50 not including my drink, which was just a soda, so not the cheapest place in town, but I get it, this is the Midwest and seafood has to be shipped in to get it fresh and that ain't cheap. It was very good though, probably a 4.3 out of 5. A little less salt, one more oyster and I could definitely see this at a 4.8! Sorry no pics. I stupidly left my phone in the car, and I wasn't walking back to get it. Just imagine oysters and French fries in your head and you'll know what it looked like. Accidents happen, and I stayed calm and simply moved my family (including my wife, young son, and in-laws) to another table so we could continue the meal. What was surprising was what didn't happen next. No manager ever came over to apologize, check on the situation, or acknowledge what happened. There was no effort to make it right in any way. At the end of the meal, we were still charged the full amount without any mention of the incident. I'm not looking for handouts--but some basic recognition that I was sitting there in cold, soaked pants for the rest of my dinner and the drive home would have gone a long way. I don't expect perfection, especially at a place I've returned to many times, but I do expect basic customer service and accountability--particularly when something this disruptive happens. The lack of response from management was the most disappointing part. I hope this is taken as constructive feedback, because this experience was far below the standard I've come to expect here.

It was a pork shank that was fall of the bone tender in a delicious gravy. My wife got the nanna pasta and it was also good, but dang that pork shank was amazing and huge. The service has always been for us and it's a family run restaurant where the owner is still walking around talking with the guests. The decor is fine. I like it because they aren't trying to be too fancy and they wheel around a dessert Carley like it's the seventies or something. They do have pretty darn good coconut cake or limoncello but tonight we passed. Our loss.

Both meals came with a nice house salad and some fresh crusty bread made in the pizza oven of Jasper's sister place next door. The carrots were delicious and there was a lot of them. The cornbread tasted good but was a little dry. Next time I would stay with the carrots but try something else. As I said the pork chop was very big and I took about half of it home. When I placed my order the waiter asked if I wanted to order a second pork chop, which I passed on. However, next time I may take him up on the offer and have an additional one to take home. All around I give it 5 stars. Also, we asked about desert. There was no desert menu nor a desert tray to help us make a decision. The waiter did rattle off the desert options, however this was kind of busy to follow. Tons of food, and I easily made two meals out of my lunch. Something to note about the menus though is that they don't have a kids menu. They did share items for kids that they have on hand, but no physical menu to look at so not sure the prices or anything. Our daughter had a hamburger and she loved it so that was a win. One plus was she was able to get a side of fruit instead of fries, which was a win for her since she has declared that she only likes McDonald's french fries these days. Overall this is a nice sit restaurant with table service that has an elevated and sophisticated vibe. Likely geared towards older generations but younger folks will find plenty to enjoy here as well.
