Delicious! The Bang, Bang Shrimp did not disappoint. It was my boyfriend's favorite part of the meal. I had the shrimp and scallops; both k which were cooked perfectly. However, the thing that forced me to write this review was the crab fried rice. It was so delicious! The crab was jumbo lump crab and was nestled in the top not mixed it so it didn't get greasy. The rice was very flavorful and also not greasy at all. The egg was fluffy and the red peppers lent a sweet taste against the perfectly salty rice. I could eat it for days! Service was just okay - our waiter made me a bit uncomfortable at times because he was almost overly friendly. Apps came out super quick but our entrees took a while. The waiter did tell us about the delay in the kitchen though, so it was nice to be alerted about it. read more

Ordered Take-Out, what a disappointment. Second time in a row - guess we are done. Tuna Bowl/ Seared tuna tasted inedible, it was clearly old and done 1-2 days prior. Nothing "pink" about it w/ an old taste on Sesame and fish. i was scared to eat it. Tuna Main Entree was a Tuna Steak. Nothing more. Some melted butter and carelessly tossed few french fries. Bonefish is hands down my favorite restaurant. Ever. Why? No matter what location I go to their service, food, and drinks are excellent. Not to mention bang bang shrimp is the tastiest treat of all time. But what makes this location so special and great is their bar staff. I come here for business about once a month, and as a girl sitting alone at a bar, I have come to really appreciate these guys. I usually am served by Jenny or Brian and they are so fun to watch and chat with, plus they make it a point to remember your name and make sure you know theirs. If you haven't been here, you simply can't go wrong with a meal. I have tried almost everything on the menu, so I order specials to switch it up. This week I had a mahi dish with lobster and rock crab with an undescribable tasty cream sauce that wasn't heavy. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. One complaint is that this place is ALWAYS PACKED. I mean really, I know its a fabulous restaurant, but there are other restaurants in GR (although I am a total hypocrite because this is the only one i eat at). P.S. We love the Bonefish for many reasons, so we went there to celebrate the end of a school year. The setting was great. The service was pleasant and timely. We were, however, surprisingly underwhelmed with our meals. The redfish was mushy. The soft shelled crab seemed meatless, dominated by the crab cake. I cannot say enough about how great Bonefish Grill is, especially during Covid conditions. You can dine in safely, with great Social Distancing, or you can order from the full menu, to take home. In addition, the staff is helpful and kind. We had an issue with a Gift Card that was NOT The restaurants' fault. Mike and Matt, the managers, worked tirelessly to get it resolved. This is my fiancé and my absolute favorite spot for dinner on a Sunday night. The quality never fails and we always have great service here. We consider ourselves especially lucky when we get Lisa as our server, she is amazing! We love that the menu features change often enough that there is always something new to try. It's nice it's not located directly downtown GR but is within a short commute making it a easy place to catch a late dinner after the opera or a quick lunch before an art exhibition. In town 8/9/11 on BIDNESS and seeing that I come from the land of fame & excess, I could not believe that on a Tuesday night, this place was that packed. Hey Grand Rapids....get some more places to eat! No one place should be THIS crowded. That being said I started with the beed dumpling w/ginger, ceasar salad finished with a Longfin, steamed asparagus, no dessert. It was all good as expected and the bar staff was very friendly. My husband and I came in for our anniversary. We hadn't been here in years and I was dreaming of some bang bang shrimp and was so excited for a great meal. The waitress raved about the special so we both ordered it. It took an hour to get our food and my husband's was completely burnt on the bottom. The portion sizes were also extremely sad, like maybe 4 ounces of fish. For a $35 plate, this was insane. My husband (who NEVER complains) made it clear he was not paying $35 for a 4 oz piece of burnt fish and asked for the fish and chips instead since that should be hard to screw up. So he got to sit there while I ate and then I had to sit there and wait for him to get his meal. The manager did come by to apologize and explained that they got hit with too many online orders and the kitchen was swamped and gave us a coupon for a bang bang shrimp for our next visit. Always make reservations and ladies bring a sweater as the AC can be cold but I usually like it that way. Been about 7 times since my last review and I feel the kitchen is doing a better job. After we finished an app of large, hot perfectly done and delicious coconut shrimp and their lovely bread w pesto dip my friend got the scallops which were wonderful (he let me steal one). Service was good--4 stars for that--only because when our server sasked if we'd been there before and we answered that it was our first time, she said "Welcome back!" Before we ordered, we did ask if anything might be free because we were there to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. She indicated there'd be a surprise at the end. Don't know if she didn't hear or understand that I said "50th" or didn't pass that on to the manager. At the end of the meal, our "surprise" was a 4-pc box of chocolates, delivered by the manager. Wow I'm so disappointed. First time my husband and I came in we were expecting to have a good time, however the waiter only made eye contact with me and seemed to be flirting, I felt uncomfortable and had to keep looking at my husband to get the waiter to even address him. Second time was along the lines of normal service, at least we both were addressed properly. The third time however, was TERRIBLE. My husband and I came in and sat at the bar because there was no seating, (so the lady at the entrance said) but there were plenty of seating in the back. The bartender was the WORST. Short blond woman who did not look happy nor made any efforts whatsoever to make my husband and I feel welcomed, she kept walking by us without asking us how we were doing or making eye contact. She never checked IDs, we are 37 and 28 however that's not reassuring to have a bartender skip this step.......we ordered drinks and mine was a rum punch or something, tasted watered down and my husband was so disturbed he didn't finish his blue moon beer! We ordered some finger apps and desperately needed napkins and would have possibly ordered more food in hopes of the food making the experience okay but she just kept walking back and forth, ignoring us completely, there were only 6 people at the bar so I don't understand why we weren't at least approached at least a few times. I felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable to be in there. We are newly married and were looking for a nice spot to make our own and to keep coming back to. Bonefish grill will not be that restaurant. Great place! For the price, you get really awesome seafood with a great atmosphere. Went there for the first time today. We got the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer, which was worth the drive. My wife and mother-in-law had the Tilapia Imperial ,they both enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the soft shell crab special, which was the first time I've ever had that, not a western Michigan staple, to be sure. The high point of this place is the service. They accidentally forgot to bring the shrimp out before the main course, the host came over and apologized, made sure it was on the house, and threw in free deserts. Decided to try someplace new for dinner. The food at the Bonefish Grill was excellent. I had grilled shrimp and scallops that could melt in your mouth. The evening would have been much more enjoyable if we were not on top of the table next to us. There was barely enough room to walk between the tables, and the conversations of all around us were plain as day. Seeing as though my sister had such rave reviews about the place, I had to come and check it out for myself. I'd been thinking about seafood and the thought of crab legs really got me excited. Unfortunately, they don't have that here. They do have all sorts of fish and lobster tail. We didn't make reservations, and they were booked. They do set aside a walk-in section, but that's taking chances on availability and you'll have to wait. We waited for about an hour, and got a booth. I did have a glass of Chardonnay while waiting. The bread here is some of the best I've had. It wasn't even decorated with raisins or anything, but it was so moist and crispy and warm. This comes with olive oil and pesto. The is even more perfect with the mussel appetizer in the sauce. The mussels were quickly eaten and didn't smell fishy at all - just as my sister said the food wouldn't be. We also had the Bang Bang Shrimp, which is very popular - spicy and kind of crispy and warm. This reminds me of the Chinese Walnut Shrimp dish but spicy. We also had the bacon wrapped scallops, which was very good as well. I had the corn chowder with lumpmeat crab, I had to get some of it somehow. It was more on the sweeter side and I had to add some salt. I had the fish tacos which comes in 2 or 4. I should have just had the 2, but ordered the 4 since everyone else had ordered something that I wanted so I tried theirs. Huge portions make this a great value for the money. I would probably agree that this is the best seafood spot in Grand Rapids. Next time, I would like to make room for dessert. read more

I have been looking for the review from the gentleman below with the name of NH and I have to comment back to this! This man is completely over reacting and blowing things out of proportion. I was a guest sitting at a table very close to his and I witnessed the entire thing! This man was so rude to the entire staff and the two servers were not mean to him at all! It took everything in my power not to say anything to him! He had no manners at all! He dismissed the servers rudely and it was un called for! Bonefish is what you would expect it to be is is clean,loud,reasonably priced and disappointing. I think like many other big restaurants their standards have slipped. Little things like the size of the shrimp in the bang bang and lack of red peppers in the crab cakes. We were there early. The ice tea had just been brewed. I know this because the ice melted instantly leaving me with a luke warm beverage. I dident even bother to tell any of the three servers that that bounced by the table that night. Everything is cooked perfectly and I have never had an issue. The one in Mishawaka Indiana is a wee bit better the way it's set up and the service, but this one is also recommendable easily. Since this is a chain restaurant I was not sure what to expect going into our dinner, I had heard a lot of good things about their food though. We made a reservation at 645 and sure enough our table was ready even though there was a wait. Our server was wonderful, and the food was very good! We got a lot of different things, the bang bang shrimp is very good, the filet was super tender, lobster tail had a lot of meat on it. OK.....I am a little late to the dance on this one. I have always wanted to go as I love sea food....but finally went as a late Christmas gift and I gotta say I loved it. This place is a chain, which I'm typically not a fan of, but I decided to give it a whirl when I was in Grand Rapids on business. I am SO glad I did. A co worker and I sat at the bar and had cocktails while we waited for our table and struck up a conversation with the bar staff - Is it just me, or is everyone overly nice in Grand rapids? :) My tom collins actually had freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice which made up the sour mix - As an ex-bartender, and a cocktail perfectionist, I was impressed by this. The seared ahi tuna appetizer was crusted with black & white sesame seeds, and tasted outstanding, as did the tuna avocado tartare (I love tuna!) My entree was good, not great - but then again, I played it safe with the shrimp and scallops. I also got the feeling of being rushed by our waitress.
