I was welcomed…read moreby Marissa who made sure I was following all the Covid19 precautions (checked my temperature at the door, showed me where to sanitize my hands and made sure I was wearing a mask before I even entered). Then I was accompanied to my seat. The whole experience was very relaxing as the ambient looks amazing. Marissa first explained the process and then started treating my hair. The treatment took about 2 hours, and I couldn't believe how beautiful my hair looked and felt afterwards. At the last moment, I decided to do a tiny trim. I'm very particular about how much of my hair I want cut and Marissa exceeded my expectations. I said "half an inch" just to get rid of those split ends and leave the length, and that's exactly how much she cut. Marissa also helped me choose a shampoo for after-care and explained how to maintain my silky hair. Parker, another hairstylist at La Salon Bianca, offered some advice as well and I left the salon very satisfied. I will be coming back again!

I did, however, have another stylist do my 10-year-old daughter's hair and I thought it was a $50 cut wash and blow dry but was charged an extra $25 for 15 minutes over the hour mark "because her thick hair". My problem is that she did not even start my daughter's hair at our appointment time. So those extra 15 minutes shouldn't have been charged to me. It would've been nice if she mentioned the extra charge as well instead of just smiling and saying her hair is so thick as she continued to thin it. She did a great job on my daughter's hair but shouldn't start late to do someone's hair and then charge them extra time for going over the hour without asking if I want you to take the "extra time". It was just a bit frustrating.

I love the vibe of this salon - super bright, trendy, and conveniently located in the Village Gate Plaza. The website answers any and all questions about your cut, color, or wax in advance, with a demystifying FAQ page and a full before and after care list. My service was ~30 minutes long and I felt totally comfortable for the duration. Nitty Gritty goes out of their way to ensure their salon is an LGBTQ+ safe space - there's specific information on waxing if you're transitioning, an ask for pronouns at the time of registration, and a truly welcoming atmosphere for all. This alone will keep me coming back and supporting, but the fact that the service is so top notch is a nice added bonus. The reviews don't lie, Nitty Gritty is the best. Looking forward to my next visit and grateful to have this awesome shop in town!

I thought I'd be able to put up with my over grown roots and horribly cut hair (tried to get a haircut in Rochester but that was god awful) but I couldn't take it any more so I found Metro Salon and booked an appointment with Carly. Came in and loved the vibe of the salon. Met Carly and told her I wanted to go darker for the winter and fix my hair cut. I told her what I wanted and she also helped me by giving her input. We got started right away and now I am in absolute love with my hair! I had like carmel hair with over grown black roots and now I have a dark auburn with darker roots. Love it!! she definitely fixed my hair and blended my over grown bangs into my hair so they don't look all weird. Carly is amazing! I told her I was new in town and she definitely listed a bunch of places to go to and even helped me a little with housing. Oh, also my friend was waiting for me and she fell in love with the salon too so she decided to get a manicure. We had to come back since (Sarah...I think that was her name) was busy. We came back a few hours later and she got her nails done while I just chilled. Her nails came out really nice! Loved the color and everything! Not sure how pricing is in Rochester, but compared to the places I go to in CA it's pretty average. My hair cut was $35 but I got a $5 discount because I'm a student and for coloring it was $60 (normally $55 but we had to do two different tones and what not so I understood). My friend's manicure was $30. I think everything was worth it especially since their products are all organic and I believe they said they had vegan products and what not too. My friends and I will definitely be back to try the other services like the keratin hair treatment and what not!

Once I found Metro, I never had to go anywhere else. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Very disappointed with my experience at Luxe Spa…read more I had a facial on 9/5 that unfortunately did not meet my expectations for a nearly $200 service. The dermaplaning felt rushed, and afterward my skin was noticeably irritated, which is unusual for me as someone who has had dermaplaning done regularly. The overall experience also wasn't particularly relaxing. There were several instances where products or jars were placed down loudly enough to startle me while I was trying to relax. For a service marketed as a relaxing, luxurious experience, those details really matter. To be fair, the esthetician was very friendly and kind, so my concerns are not about her personality. What has been even more disappointing is the lack of customer service afterward. I emailed Luxe Spa on 9/8 explaining my concerns and asking someone to reach out to discuss the experience and how it could be made right. After receiving no response, I followed up, and I still have not heard anything. I intentionally reached out privately first because I wanted to give the business an opportunity to address my concerns before leaving a public review. Unfortunately, being ignored after spending nearly $200 on a service feels extremely unprofessional. I expected much more from Luxe Spa and will not be returning.
