I had appointment online for the next day, 30 minutes after I received an email that was cancelled. Next day when I was in different hair saloon, they called me and said 'oh we thought you were the lady on the phone, that is why we canceled. We made a mistake. You can come now' ! I am like 'what? I can't come now..' , before I finished she goes when are you gonna come'! Hey you canceled my appointment for no reason, I came different saloon. The spray tan is a joke and they did a horrible job. Color pooled at my ankles. Uneven all the way around. I am a senior and have side effects from chemo and because I cancelled the day before my appointment and it wasn't 24 hours they charged me $45 for no show. I called the day before!!!! read more

When I first started going here I was really happy. Then my hairdresser left and I started seeing somebody new. I like my new hairdresser she does really nice cuts but the problem is that every single time that I go the cost of the haircut increases. I just spent $55 on a haircut that didn't even include a shampoo and it was before tip. And on the website it says it's only 51. Eight weeks ago I think I paid 45. I'm not sure if I'm gonna be going back. Just be aware. read more

Ridiculously overpriced for the highlight, cut and blow dry. It was $400 for a color that clearly wasn't comparable to the picture that I provided. This salon seems to think of you don't throw a tantrum you left satisfied. I pointed out to the stylist that the warm honey tones that she placed in my hair weren't in the same family as the ash blonde in the picture. Her response was that it would take time to get there. I was explicit in saying that I wanted no warmth, I told her that it didn't even have to be blonde but I was looking for ash tones. Wish I could remember her name...petite woman with blonde hair, really sweet. She was ready when I arrived promptly for my appt. Asked what type of a blow out I'd like then took me over for a quick yet thorough wash. We were done and done in 25 minutes. Easy peasy, not a bunch of yapping. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars: Flyaways and a bit of shine should be standard finishing for all blow outs but in this case, I had to ask for it (and it still didn't look totally finished). read more

Kelly, one of the owners, cut my hair on 3/26 and it still looks great over a month later. Kelly took the time to explain different types of layers to me and was not frustrated (or did not appear to be) as I continually contradicted myself in describing what I wanted. If I were her I would have given up! She took 1.25 hours to wash, cut/style and blow out my mane of hair and did it with a smile on her face. She was lovely and I will definitely be visiting her again in a month! You're probably wondering why I rated with 4 stars... Let's get to the point. The cuts/styles are great but the continual need to push the Moroccan Oil products on the customers is extremely annoying. The products cost the same or more than the cut/style itself! I know I am not the only customer with this complaint. Next time I visit, I am going to ask that they stop asking me to buy the products and let me do it without their "encouragement." It is very exciting to have the honor of writing the first review for this business. Sky Beauty is owner/stylist Kelly's new salon recently relocated from downtown Albany, where I was also a customer for many years. Kelly is very professional, personable and has a great eye for all things hair! She uses great products, all sulfate free, including Moroccan Oil. Salon prices are completely reasonable. They also offer a blow dry bar for a great price as well as waxing. I tend to be somewhat low maintenance with my hair, and Kelly is not the kind of person who will try to upsell you tons of products and treatments that you don't need. I do appreciate her candor though and always enjoy my time in her stylist chair. I recently brought my teenage sister in for a color correction and was amazed both by the results which were beautiful, but also by the way Kelly related to my sister and made her feel very comfortable for what ended up being a fairly long process! I learned that Kelly provides her staff with rigorous education about color processing, and the results are evident. I recommend this salon without reservation. read more

The stylist did a great job with my hair and the owners are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They make sure that you have a great client experience and are satisfied with your services. The salon itself is lovely-for the Albany area I definitely consider it more upscale but it is NOT pretentious in any way. The environment is fun and relaxed. New to the area. Called around 6PM at night. Nobody picked up, but left a message to schedule an appointment. Received a call the next morning and called back later around 5PM. I was able to get a same day appointment one hour later with Ashley. She did a very good job. Ashley was extremely polite, receptive, and was comfortable with tailoring things to what I requested. In the past, I have had trouble finding a reliable hair stylist. So, I was very pleasantly surprised for a walk in appointment and will definitely come back in the future. As for the place, it was your typical hair salon. Clean, nothing out of the ordinary. Only drawback was that I had to call and leave a message to schedule an appointment rather than having someone answer the first time I called. Not happy with the hairdresser who did my daughter colors not only did i take a before and after pictures my daughter full head highlites was not that. It was maybe 5 foils and it wasnt right color and she wanted pink there was no pink you could barely see anything plus she charged her the full amount the hair dresser had to redo it 2 times . Now if that color wasnt taking in my daughter's hair then she shouldve recommended something else instead of trying to keep doing it. So i got token for my money and now those so could color is completely out of her hair very shocked! I only switch there because my hsirdresser switch places but after that experience im just going to return back to my old place even though i will miss my hair dresser but i cant go to a place that toke my money for job they never did right! I went there over the summer. My hairstylist just recently got her license and was extremely nice throughout my whole appointment. I was not excepting the price to be as expensive as it was. I was there for over 6 hours because it took her a lot of time to color my hair. She said she takes a long time coloring when she was putting foils in and I was okay with that. We did not cut my hair either because it was getting to late. I was charged for the extra hours when I shouldn't have been. If someone needs to take their time I'm all for that and never complained but my hair is fine and short and never has taken anyone over 3 1/2 hours to do. I'm fine with sitting there for however long, but I shouldn't have been charged 375. I talked with other hairstylists as well pictures and all and they said the same thing. I went to get at least some of my money back and the owner denied it. My problems don't lie with my hair stylist, she was lovely. She is new and for her to need to charge me 375 to get a decent profit is not her fault, it's the business. read more

I absolutely can not say enough wonderful things about these ladies! I have super fine, super thin hair, that has never held a curl in my life. I was in town from California for the holidays and wanted to cut off 10 inches of hair to donate. Kelly from Sky Beauty Bar was highly recommended and she managed to fit me in on short notice. Kelly is a professional stylist, who is obviously very talented. I showed her several photos of the haircut I was envisioning, and after cutting off more than 10 inches, she was able to replicate the haircut exactly. Not only that, but Kelly is experienced with hair donations, and will handle sending in the hair to Wigs for Kids on my behalf. I went here once like honestly probably 4ish years ago or something like that... only because there was an issue with my hot water heater and I wanted to get my hair washed and a blowout. The only thing I ever had done here was that blowout...once....4 years ago. Now all of the sudden since COVID-19 has come around, they are digging into their contact information since the beginning of time and email blasting and texting when I have repeatedly replied "STOP" to the texts and unsubscribed from the emails (3 in a row). I'm writing this because I just texted "STOP" again (I already did last week) and 3 minutes after I texted "STOP" today, I received the promotional text of the day / week!! I feel like yes, it's a tough time for salons (and pretty much every other business for that matter) and I feel bad about that but at the same time, this is NOT my usual hair salon and I do NOT want to receive your promotional texts. Respect people's privacy and requests when they ask. Please stop using this time of uncertainty for your promotions to people who don't want them. read more
