I have been going to her for 26 years, starting when I was in my early 20's. Taj gives fabulous advice and her cuts/styles are impeccable. Always up on the latest trends Taj will let you know if a cut will work for you or not. When you walk into Taj's salon she and the staff, Donna and Sara, are very warm and inviting. Taj is like the sister I never had and I love her as one. I have moved from NY to CT and now in MA and I have never, ever given one thought to even trying to find another stylist. I don't have to. I've have plenty of bad ones while I was growing up. Something I truly admire about Taj is her caring about the environment and going green. Her organic products are the best and are priced reasonably. She does not try to push products on you but will recommend ones if asked. Do yourself a favor and go see Taj. Let her cut your hair just one time and I promise you will never go see anyone else.

I asked for side bangs 3 times & each time was met with resistance. "I don't want to cut too short" I gave up after the third ask. Conversation was also intrusive - where do you live? What's your job? What's your ethnicity? This is supposed to be a relaxing experience, not an interrogation. Total bill $145. Will not be going back for sure.

I first went here when I was in college in Albany and now I still travel back upstate specifically for the purpose of seeing Katerina. Most spas focus on quick results and making someone look "glowing" when they walk out the door (instant gratification = happy customer and better tip) rather than long-term, lasting results. I recently had a $400+ oxygen facial from a spa in Vegas but the effects only lasted 4 days and then everything went back to normal. Please don't waste your money on fancy treatments at some of these other places that don't last long. With Katerina's facials, she applies a scientific approach and I've noticed a real and easily noticeable long-term improvement in the quality of my skin. My pores have decreased in size, I have reduced outbreaks. Plus, Katerina is able to give personalized advice regarding nutrition, what products to use, and how to use them. She understands that everyone's skin is different, so she does not apply a one-size-fits-all approach. I explained that I believed I was dealing with hormonal acne, but the owner repeatedly assured me I was wrong. Instead, she diagnosed me with dermatitis and insisted that I was likely having an allergic reaction to my laundry detergent. She recommended an oil-based cleanser that she had formulated herself, which I personally believe made my skin significantly worse, and I also spent money replacing all of my laundry detergent based on her advice. Throughout the appointment, I felt unheard and dismissed. After my skin continued to worsen, I later saw a dermatologist, who confirmed my suspicion that I was, in fact, experiencing hormonal acne. What concerned me most, however, was that despite knowing I was pregnant, she encouraged me to take cod liver oil supplements, saying the high vitamin A content would be beneficial. I later learned that excessive preformed vitamin A during pregnancy can increase the risk of birth defects, and I was incredibly relieved that I chose not to follow that recommendation. I understand that everyone's experience may be different, but based on mine, I would encourage anyone--especially if you're pregnant--to be cautious and to discuss any skincare or supplement recommendations with your OB or healthcare provider before taking them.
