Shahi Paneer, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan Bread, Rice

Bombay Cafe is a little hidden gem for Indian food. I got a takeout order and I was impressed with the flavorfulness of both dishes. The service was very quick and seamless. I can now rest assured that I made a good decision on where to go for Indian food... Butter chicken-- Very mild and buttery taste with a slight kick of spices. Pairs really well with Raita and the jasmine rice. I recommend this dish and it was a hit for the family. Shahi paneer-- Excellent vegetarian dish with chunks of soft paneer in a tomatoe based shahi paneer sauce. I absolutely love this dish and thought they did a great job with the paneer consistency and shahi sauce flavor. Garlic naan and Samosa--Packed with garlic and great add on to the prior dishes. I recommend not getting this take out or at least toasting it more since it wasn't crunchy upon arrival. The samosa was everything you'd expect a good samosa to taste like. Not too dry either. Overall, great place. I would order from here again.

Good service. The good was well prepared the butter chicken was especially good. Very decent naan.

Simply put - this place is a fill in the blank when you are left with no choices. Food looks good but tastes very mediocre. The three dishes i got for carry out turned out to be just average. Only thing i like about this place are the samosas and quick service. Give it a shot when u run out of other choices.

Bombay Cafe is such a hidden restaurant in Fairfax! There were so many different options of curry to choose from, along with different desserts and sides that you can choose. I did the 'pick 2' which was around $10 and comes with rice, naan, and a dessert; I got the butter chicken and dal makhani which were pretty good, but the amount of curry to the rice/naan didn't really match up well. I wish their curry portions were a bit bigger. Other than that, it's a super homey restaurant, and the service was good!

Hands down best fresh samosas in the town. I have been coming to this place for long time and love their fresh piping hot samosas. Their tea is freshly made too and is not the one from machine. Their thali is good for the price. For around $9 you get two sabji, naan, rice and a sweet which is a steal.

The cafe itself is pretty run down and not maintained very well. It is a bit offputting when going through the cafiteria waiting line and sitting at uncleaned tables. The pictures of the food on the wall looked amazing so I choose one of the items to get from that and my friend had goat with curry. Everything purchased here is seperate so make sure to get rice or Nann if that is your jam. The somosa are on a hand written note saying that they are made to order so please be patient with the wait, it will be worth it (or something along those lines). I was excited for it. But my somosa came out cold and it def was not made to order but rather probably more along the lines of being under a faulty warming light.

It has those above-and-beyond touches that let you know that extra care went into it: the meat and naan cooked in the tandoor oven always has just the right amount of brown; the vegetables have just the right amount of caramelization. The sauces are deep and flavorful. The gradation of spiciness is nicely linear -- you won't get surprised when you jump up one level. The plating and presentation is simple and delightful. There is quite a variety of mixed drinks on offer! My absolute favorite is the boozy chai. This one might be one of my favorite drinks of all time; it's very much like an apple cider with just the right kind of alcohol in it. It's warm, rich, deliciously spiced (not spicy, spiced), and it has a wonderful layer of foam on top. Definitely try this. To cap it all off, the service here is always impeccable. Good recommendations, excellent balance of presence and leaving us to our devices. We very much appreciate whenever we get to eat during Sujal's shift, so please pass along our thanks to him as well! This place is fantastic. I cannot praise it more. We will be moving away from the area in the coming months, and will be very sad to lose it has an option. If we're ever in the area again, we will not miss the opportunity to eat here! (For the record, I am not AI just because I used an em dash!)

I stopped in for the lunch special, and it was fantastic from start to finish. The butter chicken was rich, comforting, and full of depth -- exactly the kind of dish that keeps you coming back. Paired with their perfectly warm, fragrant garlic naan, it turned into a full-on flavor explosion that made the whole meal unforgettable. Beyond the food, the service truly stood out. My server, Elish, was attentive, kind, and consistently checked in without ever feeling intrusive. That level of care made the meal feel even more special. Lassan is the kind of place that reminds you why you love dining out: fantastic food, genuine hospitality, and a sense of comfort that lingers long after the meal is over.

I found this place at the base of a mixed use development. It had garage parking nearby. My chickpeas were spicy as ordered, and came with two nicely puffed breads, and an array of pickled onions with a fried chili pepper. It was a proper rendition of the dish. Someone else ordered the same thing and asked for extra salt to dump on the chickpeas, which just baffled me. The flavor was ample. I also ordered a chai, and while they call it a cutting chai (which I understand to mean cut in half in size), it was a decent amount and a nuanced mix of spices. The owner was a little odd and was making calls to various tables and being kind of pushy such that it made one little girl uncomfortable to the point where her party complained about it, which was acknowledged by staff. I would advise them to put the customer's well-being first, but neither I nor the offended parties would seem to have any compunctions about coming back for the food.

You'll get a code via email, but you still have to redeem that code IN the restaurant. I was expecting a electronic gift card. And since the restaurant is geared towards food delivery services and take out, when you redeem the gift card in the restaurant and order there it takes them FOREVER to get you your food. In my case it took more than half and hour from the time I ordered until I got my food; so I had to burn all that time sitting around in the restaurant, while other take out orders and delivery services got their food more quickly. On our first visit, they were extremely busy and we didn't have a reservation, but the staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating while we waited for a table. Megha, in particular, was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, she made us feel truly at home. She consistently checked on us, made sure everything was perfect, and provided some of the best service we've experienced. Since that first visit, we've already been back two more times -- twice for dinner and once for their Sunday brunch. Every single visit has been exceptional. The service is always outstanding, and the food never disappoints. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any dish on the menu, and their brunch is phenomenal. We ordered typical Americanized Indian dishes. A lamb vindaloo, spinach paneer, buttered chicken, and tandoori pomfret fish. For apps we got vegetable samosas and gobi Manchurian cauliflower. ALL of it was so good! I would probably skip the fish next time. Not because of the taste, because of the work to get the meat out of the fish. It's served whole, which I was not expecting. Still very tasty. The gobi was had a familiar taste- similar profile to a Chinese general tso - regardless tangy and delicious with just a little heat. I was concerned the heat level was going to be too much in our dishes. After all, we did order a vindaloo which is know for its heat. It was perfect. They probably told the cooks to make it American spicy. lol. How do you know it's good? There were many Indian patrons. I will 100% return when I get an Indian food craving.
