We just walked across the street and found a table quite easily here even though it was obviously quite popular with young Oslolites (...is that what they're called?). We were pretty famished since it was a long time since the complimentary breakfast buffet at the hotel. However, the restaurant does holds true to the grain free and gluten free concept of paleo. Food was very good. We were surprised that a complimentary starter of celery chips and prosciutto with wild mushroom mayo was served. Additionally - a side of beets was served for the entire table which was also part of the meal but not on the menu, so pleasant surprises. The food was delicious, everyone licked their bowl clean. The prices are to be expected in Oslo. I bought a bottle of wine, a starter, entre and dessert for $130 ( everything was for one person). Note - this is not a set menu but there are options for that. There is also an English menu - forgot to take a picture of it. Service was great, our waitress continually checked in on us and even though it was closing time, she still asked if we wanted another bottle of wine. Due to the good experience with dinner, we decided to come back for the breakfast buffet which I highly recommend. The options were plentiful (eggs, reindeer, sausage, charcuterie, fruit, juices, breads -influding gluten free, you just have to ask for it, see pictures attached). It is $30 for one person for the buffet and it was worth it! I would come here all the time for breakfast. Note - you don't have to be staying at the hotel to do the breakfast.

Our last night in Oslo and this was the perfect way to end the trip. Entering the restaurant, to a bright and open floor plan. There are 2 levels of dining and an outdoor patio open when the weather is nice. I loved our table location by a corner with light coming in all around us. Service was some of the best we've had anywhere in the world. Not only was our server working hard our entire dining experience (about 2 1/2 hours), but he checked on us frequently and made sure all dishes were served in a timely, yet spaced out fashion. Coming to a restaurant like this, we had to go with the 8 course meal to try everything. This is what they are most known for. It was exceptional. Every dish seems to get better and better. Each course was brought out by either our server or a food runner, explained in detail what was in it, where each ingredient was from (local farms, etc), and if applicable, how long the process to marinate or prepare it was. Instead of wine paring, we choose the elderberry beverage which is popular in this part of the world and actually paired fantastic with each an every dish. Some plates were served warm which was a nice touch. Something I wasn't expecting, but was perfect in keeping hot/warm foods at the right temperature. This was hands down one of the most memorable dining experience for overall quality, flavor variety, service and ambiance. The interior decor is modern and upscale, giving a great vibe that I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The service was top-notch, with friendly service and detailed explanations of the dishes we would eat. One of the dishes that stood out to me during this meal was the duck liver brulee with sunflower seeds, a course that had rich, caramelized meaty flavor that was grounded by the nuttiness of the seeds. Another one that I enjoyed a lot was the grilled langoustine, a succulent piece of seafood with a charred exterior that really showcased the quality of their ingredients. I was also a big fan of the reindeer from Jotunheimen that came with beetroots from Dalen farm. My group originally had tried reindeer meat at a different restaurant earlier in the trip and didn't enjoy it that much since it was too gamey for us. However, this reindeer was much better in quality and filled with a lot of flavor while not being too overwhelming. Finally, the desserts of sea buckthorn with woodruff and blueberry with black koji were a great way to end the meal. The presentation of these dishes were well-executed, and the tartness of the dishes went well with the sweeter counterparts in each. There are simply no words to describe the incredible artistry of this restaurant. We made our reservations months in advance, and we had already planned to partake of the tasting menu - all ten courses - and we were not disappointed. We also chose the wine-paired version, and the sommeliers selected incredible wines. There were also three additional dishes that were not in the printed menu, and they just added to the perfection of the entire meal. The menu does change on a regular basis based on ingredient availability and the seasons. And every ingredient is treated thoughtfully. And every ingredient is perfectly delicious. This is a dining adventure, and it is meant to be savored in both time and taste. There was not a single time in this evening that we felt wanting for anything. And, thankfully, the portions are small to allow for enjoyment of the meal without feeling outrageously full.
