And when I moved here, I happened to find one spot that was in Norfolk. Then, they opened up locations in the Peninsula, including this one in Yorktown which is closer. Let's see how things have been since my last review. Just like so many visits, I always picked up food via drive-thru. The process is simple as it can get. Order in line and pick it up at the window. Even if the line is kind of long, you won't have to wait forever for your order. Each worker would greet me and always say thank you once my order was ready. Just the way it should be. Most of my selections were the Box combo minus a drink with an extra Canes sauce and sans cole slaw with extra fries for the substitution. Each meal had yours truly full for either lunch or dinner. I even took advantage of free food by using gift cards courtesy of Yelp Elite events. Not bad at all for a Raising Canes fan like myself. Well, there you have it. What we witnessed was absolutely unbelievable and completely inappropriate for a restaurant where families and children were present. While we were in the dining area, a young woman was openly giving a man--who appeared to be the manager--a lap dance. She was rubbing herself against him and putting her breasts in his face, all in plain view of the customers, including children. It was so inappropriate that my wife and I were stunned. When we left, the two of them were outside in the parking lot continuing the behavior. To make matters worse, the restaurant itself was in terrible condition. The tables were sticky and dirty, the dining area was poorly maintained, and only about half of the soda fountains were working. I have eaten at Cook Out locations before, but after what we experienced tonight, we will not be returning to this location. There is something seriously wrong when customers are subjected to that kind of behavior while simply trying to eat dinner with their families. Frankly, even as a retired sailor who has seen plenty in my day, what we witnessed tonight made me sick. Perhaps if the manager wasn't busy receiving a lap dance in the dining area, there might have been a little more attention paid to cleaning the restaurant and taking care of the customers. This was beyond unprofessional--it was completely unacceptable.

They have a pretty extensive menu for a burger joint, with nine Valhallas (stuffed burgers), almost 2 dozen signature sandwiches (think patty melts), several regular burgers, hotdogs, and several sides including onion rings (they were out today), tots, several iterations of fries, and nachos. I ordered the Jana - a Valhalla stuffed with Swiss and Muenster cheeses and mushrooms, topped with a fried egg and "Viking Sauce," a sort of chili or meat sauce that seems to be made from turkey. It's huge- I practically had to unhinge my jaw like the Midgard Serpent to bite it! This is a $15 burger and it is well worth it. Understand that when they say "stuffed burger," it's basically two burgers with the stuffing squashed between them on a nice, big bun. I may not need to eat again today. My Bride got the Frigga sandwich - a beef patty with bacon, caramelized onion, Gouda cheese and grilled pineapple tidbits. At $11.50, it's reasonably priced, and must have been good- she wolfed it down like it was Tyr's hand. We opted for combos so we both got tater tots crispy enough to do ASMR videos with and drinks- they have both fountain and bottled drinks available. We had one of each. With Newport News' exorbitant meals tax, lunch came to $46 before tip. I'm not even mad about it- it was worth every penny. An excellent meal with some great customer service. I'm not likely to make the hour drive just to eat here, but I will certainly be back anytime I'm in town already and need to slay my hunger Viking style!
