The place has some great vibes, and I can imagine hanging out here, but man, order a cup of coffee and watch a comedy of errors unfold. It seems that they are not equipped to 1. Accept payment: had to give them the money as they never asked for it, never told us how much it was, etc. 2. Serve coffee: 2 cups of basic coffee was an epic production involving not one, but three people behind the counter looking lost and fooling around with all sorts of gizmos that ultimately took 15 minutes to produce 2 cups of poor coffee. And you have to have them pull a gallon jug of milk out of the fridge just to cream up the coffee? No receptacle of milk sitting with the sugar and napkins like... every coffee shop ever? I was actually embarrassed for them watching this most basic of all coffee shop tasks unfold. What would happen if there was more than the wife and me in the place? What would happen if someone ordered something more complicated? What indication is this of the food? read more

Food: Ive had fish & veggie tacos. delicious. turkey panini and pizzas are awesome as well. i like that they use whole wheat buns and tortillas. ingredients are fresh and cooking them doesnt take forever. i initially fell in love with the place because of the crowd. everyone was nice and welcoming made a few good friends. then it changed owners and now its a little more taken care of but the crowd is not the same. young hipsters are what i usually see when i go and that has made my visits less frequent. also the staff is new and the younger they are the less they care. overall if you want good food and a variety in beer this is the place to go. the owners are always around and they make sure you are taken care of. read more

I wanted to like Bohemeo's. It has a cool/chill vibe. Decent selection of beers. Very hipster atmosphere. But the food... We got nachos and pizza. It just wasn't great. I could have made better in my own kitchen in minutes. They use the cheap round stadium nachos, the cheese almost instantly solidified, and the toppings just didn't taste fresh. Now granted. The food is VERY cheap. And I think it's an ancillary service. But we went there to eat dinner before an event at UH and I was a little disappointed. I'm not sure I'll be back. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd probably go every now and then, but it's not worth a drive for. read more

A huge meh. I sincerely doubt I'll ever find myself here again. The food is alright but nothing spectacular. I wasn't going with high expectations, since it's really just a coffee shop, right? So, the set-up is really cool with a nice interior including some cool art and a great patio area with different types of seating. Naturally, as a coffee shop, you'd think the coffee would be good. And yet, easily one of the worst coffee experiences I've ever had, and I am not a picky connoisseur. Even your corporate coffee is better than the stuff they use. My uncle can brew better coffee with a Keurig or Mr. Coffee. Seriously, I can generally eat and drink anything, but I couldn't go through with it and more importantly, didn't want to finish it. The same went for my partner in crime who disliked her latte. I can't knock the presentation or the site itself, but the area doesn't exactly give a happy, safe vibe either. So, if this is all you got within your vicinity, then make the best of it. Outside of that, just remember that you can find better, and it's probably worth the drive to go elsewhere. This is a cute place near the University of Houston. I'm assuming a lot of student come here, but when a few friends of mine and I came here, it was pretty empty considering it was like an hour before they closed during the week. Their iced coffee is ok and they have outdoor seating. They also have tacos, which one of my friends was thrilled about since she didin't have dinner before we went. It was a really nice hip place to chill with friends during the evening. The people working there were really nice, even though they were about to close and I'm not sure, but I thought I saw something about live music there. The outdoor seating is one of the best kept secrets in Houston; the view of downtown is stunning. It's ok! Not my cup of tea. HA! That's a pun you'll get in the very near future. I'll preface my review by saying my orders were probably not the best and also things that I doubt people actually go there FOR but just end up getting since they are there. I ordered hummus which was homemade and delicious pita bread that was unlike any I've ever had-truly amazing, both of them. Instead of ordering coffee (in hindsight my critical mistake) I got the Kickin Kombucha which is tea that comes in a bottle. (HAHAHA! Get my joke?? Not my "CUP of tea", since, you know, it came in a bottle!) It was gross. I mean, gross. It tasted like some unholy trinity of random fruits, seltzer water and cheap gas station wine. Nope, never again. I may go back since this place is but a 4 minute drive from UH and the staff is incredibly nice, and when I do, I will actually order what one is expected to order at a coffee shop: coffee. This place is a cool, and quite little coffee shop during the day with good food, friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. Ate there and had fish tacos and ice coffee. Staff attended my party and I quickly and with care. They suggested items since it was my first time there, but weren't pushy. Apparently there are live bands there at night hat come and play. I highly recommend eating here. Nice little neighborhood coffee spot that may remind you of a hidden gem. read more

Drove under the arch, through the strip center, and came here to watch my date's band play at the Beatles' open mic night (every Wednesday at 9). It was my first time to come on a Wednesday night, but everyone said it was far less crowded than normal for the Beatles' nights (it was national margarita day and the weather was crap, maybe that played a role in things.) Bohemoe's definitely has a very relaxed, hippie vibe. There is "groovy" art everywhere, Beatles video was rolling on a projector in the back, the walls are a hippie mix of colors, and I think the outside patio is smoke friendly. To top it off the owner (I'm assuming) looks kind of like an aging John Lennon. It's all very fitting for a weeknight Beatles jam session. Next time I come to watch the guys play, I'll bring a tambourine. Tambourine shaking seemed to be the equivalent of clapping along to songs, and it was a cool, fun idea. Everyone was really nice and got into all of the songs and there was a good communal atmosphere. No one I was with ate anything, so I can't comment on the food. But, they have a decent beer and wine selection, and a pretty good coffee selection. They also have Wi-Fi, so this would be a great afternoon or evening study spot (maybe not so much on Jam nights, though.) I had a really good time and look forward to coming back. read more

Cute place. Has an outside patio and small area and tables to eat inside. Kind of a hidden location. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Went here for lunch and ordered the fruit and greens salad. It was simple but very good and a pretty good size. I ordered the sweet potato bar for dessert. It was great. I've been coming here for a long time for lunch. It's eclectic, hip, and delicious! My favorite is the Italian Hoagie; always warm, and satisfying. The lemon bar from the dessert menu is reason enough to come back again and again. Their coffee is very good, the vanilla latte rocks. I'm writing this because it's in my neighborhood and I desperately want it to be BETTER. First of all, the service is good - staff has always been kind. The food is ok. We eat here only because it's convenient with our location. Pizza doesnt really feel like pizza. Salads remind me of my public high school's lunch salad - not very fresh. Burger or fish tacos are the way to go. Something tells me they have a limited kitchen. I would LOVE to see a casual breakfast/brunch thing on the weekends. Diner-style, doesn't need to be fancy. The indoor/outdoor decor has a lot of potential, but it just falls flat and feels like leftover garage sale items (and not in a funky eclectic way). The outdoor space is pretty good, but could be so amazing with a little bit of landscaping. There's not a lot of places in Houston with that kind of space, yet there's nothing special about it. I do appreciate that there is a feeling of community at Bohemo's with it's music/film programming. The Beatles night is somewhat magical. read more

This Houston hideaway easily earns this reviewer's prestigious Yelp Five Star Rating. The descriptors one would be most likely to use are "funky" and "laid back" vis-à-vis Bohemeo's "vibe." I'll say it's right up my street. The staff is extraordinarily friendly, and so are the people who hang out here (many of whom are friends of mine, as I've come to discover). Beverages (which include coffee, beer, and wine) and food are dirt cheap, and it usually smells like fried catfish in here, which is fine by me because I like fried catfish. Bohemeo's has become my wife's and my hangout of choice, replacing an establishment that I've rechristened The Butt Hole. You might know the one. read more

First and last time I go there. ATTITUDE REVIEW: It was around 7:30pm so maybe it's just the night staff that was rude. Guy talked down to my spouse and repeatedly asked if him if he wanted his coffee flavored. My partner isn't really aggressive but the manner in which the dirty hipster wannabe was talking to him made me talk back to him. "well it's a mochaccino, shouldn't it already be flavored?" that seemed to shut him up. FOOD REVIEW: The coffee was actually for me. Which was completely horrible. It was like a block of ice with coffee around it. No mocha flavor. No almond milk. He probably did that on purpose since I snapped at him for being rude. My partner WAS going to order something but after the shitty bartista, he decided not to give them anymore money. Which I agree. I tipped the girl cause she seemed to be a lot nicer than her douche bag of a coworker. I drank what I could of the coffee since none of it seemed to be mixed right. No sugar or chocolate in my mochaccino, look up mochaccino and you'll see its a coffee drink with chocolate syrup. Don't waste your time. You're better off going to Starbucks. Two words; fish tacos! O.M.G. I'm in love with this place. My girlfriend came over with some tacos she found on Yelp when looking for something to pick up on the way over. Of course I live in the East End so there's a ton of options. However, this place is a hidden gem we wouldn't have found without Yelp's help. Seriously the best fish taco I've ever had, and trust me when I say I know tacos. Plus, on Friday they have a fish taco special that'll make you want to buy about 100. The atmosphere is super modern and little bit in your face with the super left vibe. With that said it's pretty cool even if you don't agree with the politics. Did I mention they have a pretty well stocked beer/ wine menu? Along with this you have 3 different seating areas; inside, enclosed patio, or outside with a fountain and pergola. With the crazy weather we have here in Houston it really couldn't be any more perfect. In addition, they have open mic nights and some other events on a weekly basis to check out and give you another excuse to grab a taco of ten. Stopped by this friendly neighborhood cafe one Saturday afternoon for a coffee, and had a pleasant time. It is a bit cluttered and disorganized behind the counter, but the espresso was good and served in a nice cup. They have about eight local craft beers on tap. The atmosphere is friendly. The place is full of paintings and sculpture by local artists. There was a lot going on in the little park out back - some sort of art walk and a variety show. Great little cafe. Cappuccino, however, was great.there was a short middle aged dude with glasses who was walking around with some attitude, fixing the mike or sound system. Chai Latte is amazing! White chocolate mocha is really good too. The food is good, but not anything too special.
