Santa looked amazing. -Instead of Xmas cheer the ambiance was bitter, cold and angry. -Mimosas were made with some gritty OJ powder. -Food took 2 hours to come out -when it did come out it looked really unappealing. I cannot comment on taste because we left. -My Boodymary was so pose to come out with an empanada but it didn't. -The place only had 5-6 tables. We have been here several times and it does not disappoint! The bands are always a pleaser...I just wish they would expand the dancing area...push those tables back a row! It looked inviting with wide open porches, large fans and an indoor "air-conditioned" bar. It is, but you're fighting the window open to the outside. We sat at the bar, with a couple of regulars while we ordered our drinks and food. Service wasn't the fastest, but we weren't in any hurry and the folks are all busy doing a lot of different things. We were ok. We ordered a sweet and Unsweetened, a vodka double cra, top shelf, Tito's. We got grouper nuggets, I got the house special, which is half a Cuban and half an Ybor city salad. My guy ordered the brisket tacos. The food? It's really good. The grouper nuggets had some kind of sauce which was good, not too hot, and complimented the pineapple dipping sauce. The salad was a damn fine rendition of that other place's signature salad for less! That's awesome and the Cuban was legitimately delicious. Our server , Alexi was great! I ordered shrimp and grits .... being a Southern girl I know my grits ... they did not use grits - they tasted like cream of wheat.... exactly like cream of wheat. I asked my server if she could find out.... she never did tell me.... No answer is the answer, isn't it? The potatoes were the best thing - they were crunchy on the outside and soft inside with a pesto sauce it was great. The Bloody Mary's and Bellinis were BOGO but... both came out at the same time ... so ice was melted in 2nd one. I would come back on a Sunday for the GREAT jazz band , potatoes and alcohol.... just because the band was so good. I usually don't do reviews, but felt obligated to warn other diners about the shrimp and grits at this place. We were here with a group of 10 people. I was the only one to order the shrimp and grits. I'm a big fan of shrimp and grits and have tried many versions around the US. This has to be the worst iteration of this dish I have ever had. The dish consists of cheddar cheesy grits and 5 small blackened shrimp set on top. No bacon pieces, scallions, tomatoes, green peppers, no sauce and served with French fries on the side which I thought was weird. The grits were tasteless even with the cheese and the shrimp were over cooked. Don't order this entree! The rest of our group had no issues with their choices and really the main reason you come here is for the music. They have some very good local bands play. I needed to grab a quick lunch before my book club and it was Tuesday soo.... why not check out taco Tuesday? Taco Tuesday is a big draw here but I was able to snag a seat at the outside bar. I had two tacos, one shrimp and one chicken. They were ok. Just ok. Nothing wrong with them but not real flavorful. I also had a $6 margarita. Again, ok. Overall, a nice cheap snack but I want to go on another night to see how regular service is and how a drink is when it is not premade for mass service. I've been wanting to visit Bogota for close to a month. My Bride and myself were able to have a nice leisurely lunch here on a Wednesday afternoon. We both decided on the Cuban sandwich, I had the full sandwich, and my Bride the half sandwich with a summer salad. It's an unusual day when my Bride finishes a meal, well today was that day she enjoyed the salad very much and the Tampa style Cuban she said was delicious although she did have to modify the sandwich by putting pieces of lettuce into her sandwich, what can I say that's how she likes things. BTW, The summer salad reminded me very much of the Columbian restaurants 1905 salad. My Cuban sandwich was well constructed with all the correct fillings. Came with some tortilla chips and dipping sauce, which had a bit of a kick to it. It also came with a pickle. I had a side of black beans and rice which was absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish it all. I highly recommend stopping by and enjoying their Cuban sandwich. I know I will. read more

We went to the Bogata kitchen and bar last night to see a particular band that we like (Julie Black). The ambience is interesting with mostly outdoor seating. However, the service was abominable. Although we got drinks pretty quickly, we sat for another half hour before the waitress actually took our order after having stopped at the table several times and telling us she'd be right back. The table next to me didn't get served for 40 minutes. The food was mediocre at best. Also, the website shows an extensive menu of specials, which was pretty interesting but when we asked about them, we were told they haven't had those in years. So the website needs to be updated. Would not return except to see the entertainment. Maybe go later for drinks. The place has a lot of potential. Must've been cute at one time, but needs to be cleaned up. read more

We are definitely going back on Taco Tuesday! For $2, we got fresh beef and chicken tacos on soft flour tortillas that were delicious. The $5 margarita was small and potent. Our wait staff was good and friendly. It was a little breezy outside - only seating inside was at the bar. We wore hoodies, and we sat farther back in the patio area, so that helped. Parking can be difficult, especially on a "specials" night, but we got there at 5 and had no problem. By 6:30, folks were waiting for tables - and parking spots. Wednesday special is $5 burgers and $1 beers. We'll probably try them next Wednesday, when it's not Ash Wednesday (no meat for this one). It will definitely be warmer, too! read more

I love this place, especially for brunch. My only complaint however, is that the mimosas are unbelievably small. They come in an 8oz cup that are half full. They're buy one get one, but it's still a little disappointing. The staff is always super friendly, and they often have a jazz band on the weekends for some extra brunch ambiance. First time at Bogota kitchen, as a food service and hospitality person I was disappointed . The place was packed wich is a good sign, the music was good, the drinks where good. The cute little hostess has and attitude and has no business being in the hospitality industry on the menu they took out the Ahi tuna and the Mahi Mahi. What, They can not afford to buy the product anymore?. The 3 empanadas for $15 are overpriced $5 and empanada? What a rip off I can see$10.50. No napkins on the tables. The staff looked stressed and disorganized. I ordered The House Special half ybor street salad and half Cuban. The Salad was an attempt to recreate the 1905 Salad from the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, the Cuban was a ham and salami sandwich with maybe 1 ounce of pork and when the check came up the prices where different that in the menu. Service is exceptionally bad. It's kind of impressive actually when you think about it. Imagine a Sunday night after 7, kitchen is closed, restaurant is empty with the exception of a few regulars who've probably been there for the better half of the day. After receiving a less than warm welcome we were seated, ironically by the entrance and were ignored for half an hour. The hostess had plenty of time to wave and chat with her friends who drove by in a pick up truck but was walking around aimlessly doing fuckall. When we got up to leave I let the manager know how we were ignored, instead of just getting up and not saying anything. I wish I said more because the whole experience was a load of bullshit. Third time I came here and it's definitely the last. If you come here anyway, keep expectations very low. read more

Absolutely had the worst experience by a hostess name Harley . She alone left an extremely poor impression. We were told we were able to have our dog in the bar area until our table was ready .Unfortunately, the dog got in her way which aggravated her and she became extremely agitated . I apologized three times for that. When we finally got our call to go to the hostess stand to get our table she was inappropriate and It just escalated and she elevated to a level that It didn't have to go to . Slowest service ever, TWICE. Went there on a date about a year ago, ordered two drinks. When they were empty no one came. We ended up walking inside and ordered them from the bar, still took 10min for 2 drinks. Walked over to Thirsty Marlin and ate and had great service. Went to Bagota again today, Memorial Day at 12:30pm by myself. There were 3 other couples and two people at the bar, that's it. One couple left soon as I sat down. It took 10min to get a draft beer. I was ready to order but when she finally brought my beer she set it down and walked away and proceeded to clear an empty table. 8 more minutes went by so I paid at the bar and left. I'm sorry but when your restaurant is nearly empty, you should take orders from your customers BEFORE you clear a table. Just sayin'. Never again! read more

I usually love places I dine at but this was a fail for me. I heard so many positive reviews from people and was looking forward to eating here. We ordered the Ahi Tuna as a starter which was grossly overcooked to the point there was no pink left. My kids ordered a cheeseburger with fries, and mac and cheese with fries. The plates were way too hot for my toddler to touch from microwaving and obviously not freshly cooked or at least served at a temp safe enough for my child to touch. So I uncomfortably had to move the plate away from my hungry toddler until it cooled down. My husband ordered the brisket tacos which were supposed to be served with coleslaw and it was completely absent of anything but meat and cheese. I ordered the grilled grouper which was the most expensive thing on the menu. My grouper was rubbery, the veggies were unseasoned frozen veggies and the rice was flavorless and that uncle Ben's packet of microwaved rice. Check my reviews, I love to love restaurants and I really wanted to love this one but this is a never return to. We paid $120 for a family of 4 for this meal and it just wasn't worth it. Since then, friends have seen No Fileter at Bogata and raved about what a great time they had. So, we gave it another shot and we were astounded by the change!! Talk about an amazing time!! I checked out Bogota at 1pm on a Saturday. We had an amazing experience from start to finish. The young gentleman that seated us told us that he would be waiting on us as well. He took our drink orders immediately and was ready to take our food order before we were ready to give it. He patiently answered any questions we had. He even made a recommendation (which my friend ended up ordering). I went with the Eleuthera Island Bowl which has rice, black beans, roasted corn, pineapple salsa, plantains, and Carribean jerk chicken. It was immensely flavorful. It was a little on the sweeter side as it had a lot of pineapple in it (the pineapple salsa was homemade with actual pineapple), but well balanced overall. The chicken was divine. It tasted like it was smoked with bbq sauce and not "Carribean", but this was not a bad thing. It was also a lot of food. I ended up taking about half of it home. My friend tried to order the Poke, but they did not have it. She went with the Havana Cuban instead. It had roasted pork, gouda, onions, chipotle mayo, and guava jam. She ordered yucca fries with it (I will say that our waiter did not mention there was a $1.99 up-charge for that.. he presented it like it was an included option). I tried a small bite of each of her items. The Cuban was delicious. I tend to prefer a traditional Cuban... but I kind of wanted more of this one. I would order it. The Yucca fries were not impressive in my opinion, but I only had a small bite of one (I had plenty of my own food). She finished most of them. The ambiance was really nice. We sat at a table outside and talked while we ate. Most of the outdoor seating area is covered. They have fans set up and there was a nice breeze even in the Florida summer heat.
