Gosh I've gone to so many Bogart's shows through the years. My first was Camper Van Beethoven back in the day. Jane's Addiction on the Nothing's Shocking tour. NIN open for Peter Murphy, yes they did when Pretty Hate Machine came out. I remember a friend breaking her toe slamdancing in Keds at this show not the required Doc Marten's you could purchase across the street at Scentiments/Rock City. I'm only giving three stars due to many wonderful memories of so many artists I saw in their early days. The Afghan Whigs 2013 New Year's Eve show was my first visit since Interpol back in 2005. They remodeled, but its still the same Bogart's, nothing new to note. Sound still sucks. Outrageous drink prices $6 Bud aka piss in my opinion. Craft beers start at $7 and up from there. Only plus is non-smoking due to Ohio law. It was nice leaving not smelling like a smokestack. read more

This is probably my fave place for a concert. The sound is spot on! It's standing room only unless you pay for VIP, so wear comfy shoes if you plan to stand. Beer prices were expensive, but not much more than what you'd pay at other venues. They checked purses and bags before entry, and had metal detector wands, so if you're worried about safety, they seem to be too. So, go enjoy a show! read more

Enjoyed this concert venue. Was very easy to get in even with security outside without waiting in line. The inside area reminds me of several other venues I have been in before that use to be an old movie theater but was very roomy. The sound was good. I attended my first concert here a couple of months ago and I was quite impressed. I live in the Cleveland area and I'm not a huge fan of our venue selection here. So when I decided to take a toad trip to see one of my favorite bands I just assumed that this venue would be like all of the venues in Cleveland. This wasn't true at all! The first thing I noticed was how wide open it is. A lot of the concerts I visit in Cleveland are at the House of Blues. If you aren't in the pit or the balcony at HOB then you end up under the balcony where the acoustics are AWFUL. You think I would learn my lesson and not go there anymore but I still get sucked in and go. At Bogarts you can hear EVERYTHING and see EVERYTHING too! I love how the walls are autographed by the bands who have sold out the venue. I also love how the bathrooms are down where the bands' dressing rooms are so you have a chance of possibly seeing members of the bands! Some other nice things - there are lots of places around the venue to get a bite to eat, tickets are pretty cheap, and the vibe is just awesome. Some cons - It is BUSY when there is a Cincinnati Bearcats game. The college and stadium are literally right there. So all of the restaurants were swamped with college students. There also didn't seem to be many places to park. I had prepaid for parking and had a difficult time finding the lot. All in all I think this is a pretty awesome venue to catch a show at! read more

Bogarts is a really causal venue. Standing room only (for the most part), a casual bar, and relatively inexpensive ticket prices. I feel that Bogarts creates a more intimate feel for both the artists and viewers of the show. Be prepared to stand and wait because in my experience the shows here rarely start on time. I think this is a premier venue in Cincinnati. Bogart's has such a great history and the variety of shows you see here is very broad. I recently went to my first "rap" concert here. Snoop Dog, Snoop Lion or whatever his name is, broke me in. The crowd learned he's not very punctual, but this is not Bogart's fault. He ended up showing up three hours late. During the wait, everybody started booing, smoking and generally getting rowdy. It was a pretty crazy site to see. I was waiting for people to start throwing stuff, but luckily Snoop came out before it really went down. During big shows like this, don't expect to be able to freely walk to the bathroom or to get drinks. It is so crowded that you can't move, literally. When you do move, people look at you all crazy. You should pre-drink, or do whatever your fancy is. I highly recommend seeing a show here. I've seen 5 or so and it's always been an experience to remember. read more

I emailed for more info and the person who responded asked if I had purchased the general admission tickets yet before giving me any info I responded a few minutes later and then email again the following Monday as well as called and still have not gotten any info. Great potential based on all the acts coming through here but the sound absolutely sucks. The mix is terrible, the acoustics are abominable. I've NEVER been to an enjoyable live concert experience here. There's not a good spot to listen to your favorite bands. It's unfortunate that they haven't spent any money or renovated since the 50's. A little investment could make a major difference. Come on, Live Nation! Stop treating your main source of income like shit. We, the fans, actually DO care what our favorite bands sound like. Bogarts is well Bogarts. Bogarts has been a staple of short vine since the 1950s, bringing in artists from all over the world, local, national and international. There aren't many venues in Cincinnati but this is one of the more recognizably known ones in the area. I've seen my fair share of artists here from Beach House to Zedd to Phantogram and the experience has been pretty positive. The venue itself is a little grungy and has a kind of dive bar feel and while it's not the best, it attracts some great acts. It is really a treat to catch a show with a band before they get big or even when they are touring around multiple times. This venue is mostly standing room only with a few exceptions to seating for VIP. The sound could be a bit better as some of the shows I went too, there was some distortion or you could barely hear the person singing. Overall if you come in not expecting too much and enjoy yourself, it's not a bad experience but wear comfortable shoes and get a good viewpoint of the stage and you're sure to have a good time. read more

First off, the Jesse McCartney concert was wonderful! I'm one of the many expectant mothers that came to this show and let me just put this venue ON BLAST! They KNOW how to treat pregnant women, they KNOW how to treat and cater to the handicapped that came to the show as well! I don't frequent Bogart's but from time to time they bring in a good show or artist that draws me in. Usually the types of events they draw don't cost much either which is a plus. In the past I have always been disappointed with the sound but in my most recent visit the sound seemed to be a lot better. I don't know if this is a result of a sound system upgrade, better acoustics, or simply the genre of music but I noticed a difference. The most recent concert I attended was the R&B Only event by Colors and it was a lot of fun. It was easy to determine which song was playing, understand the lyrics, and the bass was fantastic. The area directly in front of the stage is essentially a giant dance floor with the stage at about chest or shoulder height which makes it easy to see the performers regardless of where you are in the audience. There are a lot of bars in Bogart's and that it makes it easier to get a drink depending even when it's crowded. There is the main bar at back of the venue near the entrance. In between the main bar and the dance floor there is a craft beer bar that has a cool new beer tap system by Bottoms Up that fills the cup from the bottom while illuminating it with a light and if nothing else is a neat novelty. There are also two small bars on the dance floor pit area, one on each side in the corners. And upstairs on the balcony is yet another bar. The only complaint here is that drinks are expensive. The beers are priced at baseball stadium prices. For what I believe was a 16 oz craft beer at the craft beer bar, the price was $10. Bathrooms were clean with plenty of toilets and sinks. Seating is not available unless you pay extra as far as I can tell, however since everybody danced pretty much the whole time this didn't seem like a big problem. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and smiling from the ID check to the ticket check to the bartender. Bogart's still appears somewhat like a dive but can be a fun experience. I'm sure I will end up here for another concert in the future. read more

Okay, I was recently here for the first time in years. The band might be good, but the venue is shit. Like there's a VIP section, first of all. GMAFB. As if. I forget how much it was to sit in there. $20? $25? I don't remember. Those are the only seats available. Well, I expect to stand at a show, but what a douchy idea. It's just really such a dumb idea. And the douchiest people were in the VIP section. Like Countess Luann says, money can't buy you class. And you should see the VIP section. Like it's just as smelly as the rest of the place with some shitty ribbon around it to separate the VIPs from the masses. Really. I wish I were joking about this. And the drinks suck. I don't know what I expect. I mean, yeah, it's cheap alcohol, too. I don't care because I don't drink. There's just not anything else and it's expensive. And it's like security on steroids. Why are they so rude and paranoid here? Like who's attacking the concert? GMAFB It's THE WORST place to see a show in Cincinnati area. I hate this place. I hate this city. I hate that if I want to see a good show, I sometimes have to go to dumps like this. Yeah, I'd go back to see a really good band. What choice do I have? read more

Back in 2011 I gave Bogarts a very unflattering review. When they were bought by Live Nation, I actually received an email from their general manager asking me to come back to check it out after their renovations. Now my opinion has taken a complete 180. Bogarts has turned into a great club with an excellent atmosphere. The sound is better, the air conditioning actually works now, the merch area is large, the bars are easy to get to, and the bathrooms are actually nice now and not coated in piss. In the past Bogarts' staff were a total pain to deal with, which included pat downs that would make you get rid of any writing utensils you had on you. Now everyone is very cool and doesn't intervene unless you are being a complete moron. When I was at Gaslight Anthem a fight broke out and the security was immediately there to haul the offending parties out and get the show back on. 5 days later I saw Rancid and again security stepped in to carry out a drunk patron who had passed out in the pit. Both times they were right there to take control of two chaotic situations that could have had very bad endings. Go to Bogarts. Its much better. They are getting better bands. And the customer service is excellent. Thumbs up. read more

Let me just start out by saying I'm incredibly torn between 3 and 4 stars.... I have always loved concerts at Bogarts. It's a very intimate setting even from the very back, you have no problem seeing or hearing anything. And the bands know it and normally have a lot of fun with the crowd. I've been just about everywhere in that joint from front row to middle to back, minus the balcony. The best spot is about 1/2 the way back just a few steps from behind being even with the staircase that goes under the stage to the bathrooms. It just has the best acoustics, and won't make your ears ring after you get out. The drink prices are quite steep tho... $5 for a bottle of beer?! I'm pretty sure they might be cheaper at the ball park! but they kinda make up for on the strength of their mixed drinks. Now this is where I start to get torn... I haven't been to Bogarts for probablly 4ish years until i went the other day. Maybe it was who was playing, or maybe things had gone down I hadn't heard about since moving from the area. But I don't think I've ever gotten patted down going to a concert that wasn't like ICP or something of the nature lol This was a pop concert for crying out loud! Mind you it seemed to attract that douche wanna be and prissy girls in short skirts and open shoes (who honestly wears that to a freaking concert?!?!) But i watched at least 13 people get escorted out of the miniscule crowd by security. they constantly hovered around the back of the crowd (where I was located). Again I'm not sure if this is due to the amount of college drunks, or underage drinking or what, but it just seemed like a bit much. I went to Bogart's last night for the first time so as an outsider and not being from Cincinnati, this review might shed some insight on the area. I thought for sure we had made a wrong turn or were lost as we seemed to be right smack dab in the middle of...a pretty unsightly/dodgy area complete with abandoned buildings, beggars, seedy bars, etc. Here are a few miscellaneous things: -Parking was difficult but we totally lucked out and got a meter spot right in front of the venue (free after 6 PM). -CASH ONLY bar seemed like it was run by a bunch of kids who could have cared less if you got served or not. -Yes the place was dirty and I agree with the previous reviewer who said that it looked like it was straight out of an 80's horror flick... that was spot on. But it definitely added to the ambiance of the place. I can just imagine how many amazing acts have performed there... and the marquee out front looked vintage and a totally nice touch. All in all- I think it is what one would expect from a venue. Had a fantastic time and while we were all packed in there like sardines, there was breathing room. read more

This place is the Cincinnati version of Detroit's iconic St. Andrew's Hall. I travelled here from the D for the Afghan Whigs hometown reunion show on NYE. I had low hopes because of poor reviews I saw on here...but in my experience, it was a totally solid venue. Gritty? Yes. But I wouldn't say dirty, gross, or a bad place. I love when rock venues have some grit to them - graffiti on the walls, dim, a little rough around the edges. Getting people in, IDs checked, tickets taken, and coats checked (optional $3) was a streamlined process that assured none of us were left waiting outside in the cold in line for long. Every staff member I encountered (I'm a social gal - through the night I chatted with 2 bartenders, a security guard, and the coat check girl) were super cool and friendly. The place is standing room only except for a few tables in a "VIP" section. There is a bar for each level and I never had to wait in line long for a drink. Domestic beers were $6 for a large draft cup, and that included not only your standard Budweiser but I actually got a nice big pour of Magic Hat for that price too. Pretty good, for a concert venue! The place isn't huge so there's not a bad spot in the house. Right across the street from a number of small bars that are perfect to hit up after the show. Parking isn't plentiful, but I found a spot after only one or two circles around the block. I had a fantastic NYE here - thank you, Bogarts! read more

When here this past Sunday to see Hobo Johnson, the facility itself is kind of small. However with that being said the staff were very professional, the restrooms were very clean, the drink prices were accommodating, I wouldn't say they were cheap but they were slightly affordable for the venue. The one sour note to the entire evening was how ungodly sticky the floors were. I understand it being a small venue and you have people spilling drinks all over the place however with that being said the floors were so sticky that your shoes would get stuck to the floor, and you would literally have to peel your foot from the floor. Although with that being said it was a really awesome time I wouldn't say it was worth $65 a ticket, but seeing the bands that performed I really hope that they made a little bit of Grada from the amount of ticket sales that were sold. Overall it was a solid night the sound was pretty decent, and the space was accommodating for the amount of people that came however in the future maybe Bogart's would want to consider getting a more spacious standing room to accommodate more guests. read more

Many professional and independent bands play concerts at Bogarts. I've seen some amazing shows at this venue in my years in Cincinnati. My mother often recalls when she saw James Brown perform there as well. When I was younger, it seemed that every other weekend there was someone I wanted to see. I feel as though I may be getting older as I know less and less about the upcoming artists. Also they are starting to all look the same in their posters when I walk by! OH youth these days! It's a decent sized venue that can really pack in the people. There is a main floor that leads up to the stage. Behind that is the bar area that has snacks, drinks, and some seating in front of that. Then above there is a second floor balcony that looks over the main floor. There is another bar up here as well and more seating to watch the show from. Sometimes when parents come to shows with their kids, they like to hide out above the mess. I have some issues with Bogart's. Aside from the sticky dirty floor and the rude and inconsiderate public that you can find there, the staff have pushed my buttons too many times. Back when smoking was legal inside, going to Bogart's was insufferable. I'm sure it's much better now, but I will never forget how I was treated as a non-smoker who wanted some air. The entire room fills with thick smoke, I probably smoked a pack just standing there in a single evening. It often made me sick and on a few occasions made me almost pass out. On one occasion I asked a staff person to please turn on the fans they have in the ceiling. It took me about 5 complaints to get them to turn on the fans. It was ridiculous. Another thing I don't like is that they constantly over sell the venue. It can be scary thinking about the possibility of an emergency or fire when you can't even make your way to the bathroom there are so many people. I honestly think they break the fire code very often with the amount of people they let into the venue. Please keep this in mind! read more

Bogarts has drawn some of the most famous bands in the world over the years, but I think if those bands had better options within the city to go to they would never have picked Bogarts. It's quite simply the worst place to see a band. The acoustics in the place is wretched. The seedy area has steadily gone down hill over the past decade, and it's not the place to be any longer. Went to Bogarts for the first time ever to see The Afghan Whigs reunion. We drove from Pittsburgh and stayed at the Travelodge in Newport KY and took a cab to Bogarts. I was quit nervous after reading several bad reviews about Bogarts. Several reviews talked about the place being dirty, gross, and just not a nice place to see a show. I also read reviews about bags being search heavily and security just being a pain. It was stated that cigarettes and lighters are not permitted inside. When we arrived at Bogarts I was very happy to see a nice, clean , and modern place. It was big and open. It was easy to get to the bathrooms. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. Also there was a smoking outside area by the bathrooms so cigarettes and lighters are allowed and there is even an area where smoking is permitted. I enjoyed my concert experience at Bogart's. It was easy to get to the bar and bathrooms at all times. There was plenty of space to move around during the show. I am looking forward to attending another show at Bogarts on New Years Eve. Im very happy that all of the negative reviews I read were not true and that the newly updated Bogart's was a great place to see a show. read more

Bogarts is a great venue, first and foremost. But this venue falls shorts because it's a victim of circumstance. Their catering to Ticketmaster means any show you see there will cost at least ten dollars more than it should. This also tends to determine what kind of artists you're going to see. What loses Bogarts some points on its own is the staff. I've seen a few shows their now, ranging in genre and average age group, but the staff continue to be horrendous. As a blanket statement -without attacking anyone personally- I can say their pretty much all a huge set of dicks. But as far as the basics go, it's a pretty simple setup. A big wooden floor, and a huge stage. No stairs or multiple levels means that nothing can get in the way for a nice big mosh, but that also means no sitting room if you're on your feet for a long show. On top of that, the surrounding area doesn't provide much in the way of local flavor. You'll get the feeling you're in a pretty seedy place, though it's not that bad. Let's just say I don't travel much alone in those parts. Catch a bite to eat before heading over, as you won't find much else than a Kroger. I used to love this place, before experiencing some other venues around Cincinnati. It certainly isn't as bad as I've made it out to be, as the shows you see can greatly influence your opinion of where you saw them. But I can say Bogars is low on the list of preferred venues to see bands live. read more

I had a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 stars. I have to like Bogarts because out of all of the concerts to come to the Cincinnati area, most of the bands I like play there, so without Bogarts I would have missed out on a lot of wonderful concerts. Every other concert venue I've been to has either been outdoors, or indoors but way smaller and not much room to move around. What with having no seats on the main floor there's plenty of room to move around, though if you make it to the front you're sure to be smashed like sardines. On the negative side there's no parking, and there's always huge lines to get in. The real downfall however, are their bathrooms! They are the worst bathrooms you could ever imagine. They're more disgusting than a gas station's bathrooms, and they're just as scary as something you'd see in a horror movie. I made the mistake of going alone last night, and I can honestly say I was a little creeped out. Make that a lot creeped out. My mind ran wild with what could possibly happen to me down there and I washed my hand quickly, then hurried back upstairs lol. Oh and that's another thing, the soap is so cheap it didn't even make my hands smell clean. It doesn't smell like anything. Oh and something that's kind of funny/sad/disturbing. There's always some homeless man in a wheelchair outside the doors begging for a money. I'm pretty sure he gooes to every show and sits out front both before and after the show starts. No, I'm not mean. The funny part is his signs. He holds up things like, "Give me money or I'll kick you in the face." I'm also pretty sure he doesn't have feet... Overall I'm going with a three, because even though Bogarts isn't that great, there's still nothing better around here. If you're going to go, just make sure to take someone with you to the bathroom lol. read more

Bogart's is a rock band lover's dream--unpretentious, divey, and intimate. It's all General Admission which is superior to all other forms of seating since you can dance freely! The shows are usually a very reasonable $25. You can show up right at the scheduled start time and still get close to the stage! I love it. The sound is generally decent quality as is the lighting. There are upstairs bathrooms as well as downstairs bathrooms, so it's a simple task to get to one and back. There are upstairs and downstairs bars serving various adult beverages averaging $9. If I had to choose one venue in the city for seeing rock shows, this is the one simply because the value is amazing for the price. I recommend street parking down on Jefferson Ave or thereabouts a couple blocks away so you don't pay for parking. After the show there are restaurants and bars next door within walking distance...or a tattoo parlor if you're really drunk ;) read more

My husband and I saw Trombone Shorty at this venue and were excited to try it out since we've never been here. We didn't find any parking nearby, but found a garage owned by UC that was within a short walking distance. This venue is standing room only, but we thought there may be a couple of chairs somewhere in case someone needed to sit down for just a minute. The only tables and chairs are in a VIP section, which you have to pay for. I got lightheaded at one point and ended up sitting on a wall divider in the balcony since there was no where else to sit. Our biggest issue with this venue was the sound. The volume was turned up so high that the sound was completely distorted to the point where you couldn't understand any words that were being said. We wore earplugs and our ears still were ringing the next day. I understand having the music louder can make the experience better for some concerts, but this was not the case for this one. We ended up leaving early because we couldn't handle the volume for the entire concert. The only reason I'm giving this venue two stars is they do have nice, clean, large bathrooms, which can be very hard to come by at concert venues. The tickets weren't that cheap compared to other venues either so I'd much rather see a concert somewhere else. read more

I finally saw the Silversun Pickups play. I had tickets but missed them years ago when they played the empty bottle in Chicago. Still upset. This time I had to get through a really bad flu bug, a start time one hour earlier on the tickets compared to online, driving down a one way street the wrong way, a sun roof that didnt want to close, people taking my parking spot, an iphone with a map/gps/compass that didnt really help, and feeling like I was going to be shot as I was walking to the venue. Still I made it just in time to hear the SSP play and they were worth the wait. So the Venue. Unfortunately, I have many good ones to compare Bogarts too. Tried the floor first. Wow was it hot. I think maybe 100+ degrees. felt faint (could of been because I was recovering from a bug). however my friend went blind for a while and had to get some air so maybe it wasnt me. The sound was good, but hitting the floor was not an option. So we went upstairs, ah cool A/C fans. Ah really crappy sound. At least both of us could see the band now. You had to be at least 6 ft to see anything on the floor. I'd go again if a band I want to see is playing there, but mostly because where I live there is likely no other option. read more

I've been here a couple of times to see bands. If you like seeing alternative bands and don't mind the divey bar feel then it's good. I love that kind of thing so I don't mind the environment. The sound is rough though. You can hardly hear what people are saying or singing. Your experience REALLY depends on the night and the crowd. The first time we were here the concert was awesome. That was a Saturday night. We came back on a Wednesday night and the crowd was ridiculous. Just a bunch of rude, drunk college kids who didn't even know the band or any of the songs. It was hard to enjoy the band when you kept getting drinks spilled on you or shoved into other people. There was a mosh pit for about half the show, until they figured out they figured out what type of band it was. Once the crowed settled down the show wasn't too awful. Other than that, I have never ordered a drink so I can't comment on pricing. I've never had a problem with parking but I always get there early. There are a lot of places to pick to eat from too. Overall not a horrible place to see your favorite alternative band play. Just pick a Friday or Saturday night to go, when all of the college kids are partying somewhere else. Unless you like mosh pits and sweaty drunk college kids. read more

In Cincinnati, you're not a true music lover unless you've had someone throw up on you, (or your unlucky friend), during a concert at Bogart's. Having your car towed for illegally parking at the Kroger's across the street earns bonus points. Of course, Bogart's is an old, dirty shack that should probably be shut down by a building inspector, but it's also one of Cincinnati's most entertaining venues. The smaller setting gives concert-goers the chance to see some of their favorite bands up close. And, as any Bogart regular knows, waiting at the back door after a show almost guarantees an autograph or two. At the very least, you can watch Pete Steele, (or the like), huddle himself drunkenly into his tour bus before passing out - a rare joy that shall never be found in a stadium. Tips for newbies: Always arrive early and park behind Bogart's, rather than search for the perfect, (and unattainable), spot on the street. During the show, don't hang out near the stage unless you want to become part of the mosh pit. Yes, they still have those. And yes, there would be a mosh pit at Bogart's even if Tori Amos was on stage. It would just move slower. read more

I got my first look at the "new" Bogart's last night for the Gaelic Storm concert. According to news reports, Bogart's had recently finished the first phase of a much-needed renovation. Bogart's was in much need of renovation the last time I was there which was probably over 15 years ago. The space is much the same as I remember it. It has been cleaned up and the walls have been painted and fixtures have been somewhat updated. The first stop is the bar at the back of the venue. Drinks were a bit expensive. Although Gaelic Storm is a really fun band, the hall was only about half full. It was nice to not be crowded in with a sweaty mass of people. I'm too old for that kind of thing now. There is now a huge video screen in the middle of the left wall about half-way back from the stage. I assume this is part of the upgrades, but, I haven't been there in a long time so I don't know for sure. At first I questioned the need for a video screen in such a small venue but, turns out, for short people stuck standing behind tall people, it can come in handy. When the lead singer of Gaelic Storm suddenly starts channeling Riverdance, you do want to get a good look at it. On my last, long-ago visit to Bogart's I would have only gone to the bathroom if really, really, really necessary. I did have to go last night, but I wasn't so scared. All the stalls and toilets are new, the walls are clean and painted, the sinks are high-tech. You don't have to be afraid of touching anything! Let's just hope management stays on top of maintenance and upkeep and the cleanliness lasts. Never fear, some things never change. Just like in the old days, the floor was sticky. read more

You can always catch a good show at Bogarts. However, like anyone we have all had our shortcomings. I... after long years of frustration... complained of poor bathroom quality and high beer prices. (In hindsight my complaint about high beer prices might be unwarranted.) Either way, I'd had enough! So I broke down I complained in a public forum. To my surprise I was not met with silence! I was met with reason and explanation! I was met with the desire to go above and beyond, I was met with a real human being. And for that I give Bogarts 5 stars. read more

Absoloutly love this venue! I've been attending since I was 16 (now 28). When I heard they got a makeover I was a little worried the ambience of this little hole in the wall would be lost. However, the changes are all for the best, still the same great rock venue, just cleaner and more professional. Years ago, tickets were checked by shadey dudes in hoodies, now there is staff with shirts and smiles that are much more appealing and legit when walking into the venue. The restrooms are as good as a concert venue can get: new paint, clean, and a nice chalk board with future shows. I believe they also added a few new signs locating restrooms and smoking, good call. Even as my huband and I walked into the venue for the Alkaline Trio/New Found Glory show (great as always by the way), I noticed the General Manager with a broom and dust pan. Gotta love a place that has a commitment to their work starting from the top. Fantastic place and highly recommend for rock/punk shows! read more

I attended a johnnyswim concert at Bogart's and it was AMAZING! The venue is spacious! It's is easy to hear and see from anywhere! The bathrooms are clean. Everything about the venue and the concert was perfect! I will be going back to another concert at Bogart's just for the atmosphere. Check it out! read more

Oh, Bogart's- how I miss you! I had so much fun with you, seeing some great concerts and meeting crazy people! One night I was chatting with a girl at the bar, and it ended up not being a girl, but the lead singer of Placebo... then I met Greg Dulli from the Afghan Whigs out front and he gave me tickets to his show, and then I got backstage to Ash, so you, Bogart's, have only brought me luck. This venue, from what I remember, was the best place to see a good indie show and from what I hear from my people in Cincy, it still has that same vibe. read more

This is the first time I'd been in Bogart's since 1989. But I had to travel to see Paul Weller and I was not disappointed. They have done some fantastic renovations to the bathrooms and added an outdoor space and all that is grand. However, the sound in this place is dreadful, a cacophony. Really the worst sounding hall I've ever been in of this size (similar to The Fillmore or Louisville's Headliners in size...both those halls have a much better sound). I'm no expert but there shouldn't be echoing. The opener's mix was awful while Mr. Weller's was considerably better and, of course, he and his band were phenomenal. The sound is a little better if you stick to the back area (actually nearer the front entrance) where the ceiling is way lower and I imagine fends off several waves of echoing. Hope they find a way to make this better, as many of the detractions to the sound could be ameliorated to some extent. read more

Bogart's is a venue that has a love-hate relationship with Cincinnati, or maybe I have a love-hate relationship with it. While it is true that Bogart's is able to bring in some incredible bands that are "near famous," it unfortunately means that those bands are playing at Bogart's. A cesspool of annoying teenagers, drunken college students, angry adults and tough-guy bouncers, Bogart's is probably my least favorite place to watch live music. Don't get me wrong, the sound is okay and good music is good music regardless of where you hear it, but if it wasn't my favorite band in the world, I wouldn't go back to Bogart's ever again. read more
