I mean I was in active labor for more than 24 hours. Wendy stayed with me and my husband the entire time with no sleep. She made me feel safe knowing that I can trust her being by my side to the get through the process. She offered many difference techniques to help nudge the baby to come. With meditation techniques, she helped me stayed calm, relaxed, and focused so I could achieve the natural child birth I always wanted. She came visit me many times after child birth. She is always supportive and calm. I cannot have imagined going through birth again without her. When I found out I was pregnant the second time, I thought of Wendy right away. There are no words to describe the joy and gratitude we felt for having Wendy at our side during the delivery. She came right away and changed the ambiance of the room by using an aromatherapy scents that helped soothe my nerves. We also started to walk and tried the different positions to help speed the labor process. She coached my husband and I all through-out the day. She took care of me and was focused on me the entire time. When it came time for the delivery, she reminded me on my breathing and helped me with the pain. Wendy was amazing! Now fast forward 2 1/2 years to our second child. My husband and my first thought was "we need Wendy and Kersti!!!" Although not that long after having our first we find ourselves trying to mentally and physically prepare for the birth of our second. We were instantly calmed when Kersti comes to our home and starts calmly walking us threw what to expect and how to prepare. Tips on how to manage our concerns and refreshers on birth we had tucked away! When the day finally came it started differently than before. We made the choice to naturally induce. I benefitted most from her complete assessment and personal protocol email from my prenatal session. The assessment was to address discomfort during pregnancy but also gave me resources for chronic issues, post partum & stretches. I broke my shoulder in Mid September. I knew healing gentle body work was what I needed. I had a fabulous chiropractor and acupuncturist but I needed touch, and I figured normal massage would be too much. Wendy is truly Amazing. She is one of my favorite healers, not to mention humans. She uses Myofascial Release to promote healing and wellness. I really didn't know what MFT was or what to expect during a session, but let me tell you it is absolute magic. You lie on Wendy's table in her, close your eyes and drift off. My first baby had come out face first, a rare and challenging presentation that made labor more difficult and scary. I saw Wendy for a body balancing session around 32 weeks and she alleviated my SI pain with myofascial release and gave me a few simple exercises to practice to support a good position for baby. I saw her one more time for hip pain shortly before delivery and did my exercises. I was very relieved and pleased when my daughter was born in an uncomplicated, straightforward labor. Words cannot describe my gratitude for having Wendy beside me during the delivery of my daughter. We hired Wendy a month prior to my delivery and instantly knew that she was a good fit for our family. She was very supportive, encouraging, thoughtful and comforting during our meetings. My baby came three weeks early which was before the contractual period during which Wendy would be available but she was there for us as soon as we let her know that I was having pre-eclampsia complications. She also came with me for a doctors appointment when I was diagnosed with preeclampsia. She was my advocate in the delivery room asking BAM if they would take me as a patient as my doctor was on sabbatical during this time. My husband and I felt like we found a gold mine in Wendy as our doula. She supported us through the last month of pregnancy and the successfully unmedicated delivery of our first son. During the two prenatal meetings, she came to our home, asked lots of questions, and was attentive and supportive.The best thing that came from this time was the relationship we built. Wendy made us feel completely at ease with her, and I knew I could trust and rely on her. She has an uplifting, cheerful, calming presence-- exactly what you want with you during the labor and delivery process! We chose Wendy even though she would be on vacation two weeks before my due date, because she fit both our personalities and budget. She was extremely professional and considerate in assuaging our concerns about having the higher probability of using a back-up doula. She found a backup that she felt would fit particularly well for us, and that doula came to one of the meetings so we could meet her as well. Wendy absolutely went the extra mile to make sure we felt cared for and confident. The day before my due date, I started having early labor contractions. I kept in touch with Wendy via text, and she kept tabs on how I was feeling both physically and emotionally. During the night, I started having more regular contractions, but we tried to rest, and used many of the coping mechanisms and breathing techniques we had learned in birthing class, so didn't feel the need to have Wendy come join us yet. At around 6am, I was beginning to feel unable to cope as well on my own, so we called Wendy and discussed the next step. Though we had planned on having her come join us at our house for more labor, after hearing about my mood and contractions, she advised that it might be better to head to the hospital. Wendy met us at the hospital with some breakfast she had picked up. When they checked me, I was 6-7 cm dilated already! My husband is a very active partner, and while at the hospital, Wendy found the perfect balance in encouraging him in how to help me, and spotting the holes in where I needed a different support than what he was offering. She was constantly giving me verbal encouragement, helping me visualize the progress my body was making, telling me how well I was doing and how strong I was. Since my husband wanted to be present the whole time, she would run little errands like getting ice chips, wash clothes, the nurse, turn on music, etc. so he could stay with me. She was very in tune with me and my needs the whole time, and would keep steadily doing one coping aid as long as it was being effective, but had a new thing to suggest as soon as she saw I was struggling again. I labored at the hospital for about 6 hours, and the had an hour of pushing before our son was born weighing 8 lbs 15 oz. Wendy's support and encouragement was absolutely key in my having a satisfying birth experience. Throughout the entire thing (with the exception of about 20 minutes of pushing, if I'm going to be honest!), I felt in control, confident in my ability and strength, and honestly excited. Afterwards I felt like a superhero, which is a great way to start out motherhood. :) Wendy fostered many of these feelings and her support, both physical and emotional, was unparalled. Awesome experience with Wendy! Wendy was the first doula we met, and we knew we didn't need to meet anyone else. My husband and I are first-time parents and I insisted on hiring a doula. Wendy played a very important part in the birth of our daughter. My husband and I had an amazing experience with her. Our plan was to have a natural childbirth. Natural meaning, a vaginal, intervention-less and drug free childbirth but after 31+ hours i did take epidural. Out of my 36 ours of labor Wendy was with us for more than 12+ hours and stayed with us until we moved out of the labor room. She was supportive and gave me the space i needed while making sure i was feeling comfortable all through the labor. She encouraged me the whole way through some very intense moments. She helped with counter pressure and techniques while I was laboring when my husband got tired or needed a break. My husband was so relieved to have support as well. Wendy was a true God-send for the birth of our son. As a first-time mother, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Nor did I know where to turn for evidence-based answers. Thankfully, Wendy knew. She gave non-biased answers to our questions, and for those that she couldn't answer, provided many reliable resources. She helped my husband and I prepare for our birth by helping us create our "birth preferences," as she called them. And when I broke ALL my birth preferences during labor, she politely reminded me of them as I had asked her too. And when I told her I didn't care and please God give me the epidural, she was non-judgmental and helpful. Of course, this now meant I was bed-bound during labor. No matter, she was flexible and adapted quickly to our new situation. She was able to help me labor even while I was stuck in bed, thanks to my meaty, lifeless legs. I am very appreciative on all the support Wendy has given me during my second child birth. I had to be induced with Cervidil at the hospital. Wendy gave me induction massage which was very relaxing as well as effective. I was in labor in 3-4 hours after that. Having Wendy in that crazy and intense time was such a blessing. She was calm and composed. She was around for quite some time even after the birth of our baby and also helped me breastfeed for the 1st time. I've seen Wendy a few times before, during, and after pregnancy and each time my body (and spirit) was able to mend and find balance. I'm not going to lie, during the first session I felt like the MFR adjustments were so small (and peaceful) that as I was lying there I thought perhaps I needed something more aggressive (like chiropractic or deep tissue massage). Give it a day, just one day, and you will be amazed at the restorative ability MFR has on your system. My partner and I felt much more prepared for the birth after our meetings with her, and she was responsive and helpful in the lead up to labor. One we got to the hospital, I can't imagine what we would have done without her - Wendy was a never failing source of encouragement, ideas, and positive energy. Her coaching through labor and her support of my choices even when they deviated from the natural birth plan we discussed prior to the day were indispensable. And though it wasn't the birth I expected, the support, information on alternative options, and space to make informed decisions that Wendy provided helped me be completely comfortable with the birth we had.
