I've always wanted to try a pilates reformer class and I'm glad I found this place on Classpass so I can try it for free as it was my very first time doing machine pilates and wasn't sure how I would like it. Right away, the studio was pretty nice and I was checked in easily. I was able to purchase grip socks there for around $12 which is required. I was pretty nervous for my first time but the teacher, Eric, showed me everything on the machine and I prepared myself for this high energy 45 min workout. Since I have done mat pilates before, a lot of the workouts I was familiar with but was still getting used to using the machine. Eric helped me all throughout the workout showing me how to do each workout correctly and what weight to use, how to have correct posture, etc. Yes this pilates class kicked my butt for my first time, but it was a great experience and great workout. I'm glad the instructor helped me and made me feel comfortable the whole time. I would definitely try this pilates class again and this is something that would be fun to do with your friends too. Thank you and it was a fun, high energy workout in a clean trendy studio on Haight Street.

I thought this was a rundown (maybe condemned?) building just turns out it's a trendy Pilates studio. Who knew?

I learned that The Center is a space where events and classes are often held, and that there's actually people who live here (presumably upstairs). When I went on a Sunday afternoon, there were quite a few people there to talk or work on their laptops. I admit this place is a bit too "woowoo" for me, but I'm sure for some other people this would be a good fit for their desired atmosphere.

This space feels super homey compared to other cafes as everyone mainly sits on the floor and you also take your shoes off inside. There's a huge selection of teas, and you can get free refills on the pots for as long as you want ($12)! I came on a Sunday afternoon and it got SUPER packed while I was there and pretty loud. I'd recommend coming earlier if you want to snag a table. I saw a lot of people catching up or doing work as well!

The entire time I was at the studio and after, I felt like the staff was hounding me to commit to a membership. While I get that it's normal for fitness studios to reach out for post-class feedback, Ritual Hot Yoga exhausted my patience with their incessant texts and emails. I was literally getting spammed with notifications. Apart from the incompetent administrative staff, the class was delivered at such a rapid pace using esoteric jargon rather than industry standard terminology that I could not keep up and transition quickly enough, and the instructor failed to check on me throughout class. Also, since the room was really dark, it was difficult to see and copy others' movements, and the instructor walked around and often stood at the back of the room instead of demonstrating the movements at the front of the class. Worst class ever. I left Ritual Hot Yoga feeling like I hadn't worked out at all despite it being a hot class, so I immediately went to the gym afterwords to get in an actual workout. Ritual Hot Yoga wasted both my time and money. I will never return and have de-influenced my friends from coming here.

Isabel checked me in at the front and lent me a yoga mat for rent. There were rooms on each floor, but the class I took was on the top floor which was a cozy space with natural lighting. I took Erica's hatha class and it was just what I needed. She was kind and encouraged students to listen to their bodies, not forcing themselves into positions and taking rest when needed/wanted, all the while offering challenging versions of various asanas. She walked the room and offered feedback and verbal adjustments. I've been feeling really out of touch with my practice on many levels, but there was a compliment she paid me that really gave me affirmation on my yoga journey (yes, we're supposed to detach from the ego, but sometimes we need to hear that we're doing okay).
