I "booked" for deep tissue massage and the massage was obviously was not deep tissue. Or, rather, there were a few minutes out of an hour and the rest was some basic light massage. I know the owner mildy and I am on the email list. I wrote up a potential complaint and I emailed it to the owner. I know the owner mildly because of seeing a previous massage practitioner named Scott who previously worked here/there. (Scott no longer practices at this clinic/office/space.) She called me back, refused to refund any or all of the money I had paid. She said the problem lay with me for not insisting or asking the guy to do deep tissue; she offered to provided me with a discount on a subsequent massage. I declined the offer of another massage . . . Avoid unless you know the person providing the massage or the quality, if you are looking for deep tissue, healing from injury.

He will ask for feedback if there are other areas that he identifies during the session. Tyghe provides a deep to very deep massage which is sometimes difficult to find. He is respectful of personal boundaries and very professional in his care. I definitely appreciate having him as my LMT.

I love the fact that I have the option to be on a very comfortable floor heated massage mat, rather than a table. A bonus is that I am also able to keep my clothes on and achieve the same successful benefits of a quality massage , physically and mentally. She effectively communicates verbally and nonverbally during the session to check in to determine your comfort level and preferences. She even checks in on you days afterwards and welcomes your feedback. She makes one feel comfortable, respected and understood, not to mention providing relaxation, an increase of energy and positive wellbeing. Lisa

Visits with her are always extremely pleasant, there's no rushed sense of clock watching like I've gotten the few other times I've had massages. More than helping you relax she's interested in making you feel better and to take better care of yourself. In only a few visits she not only worked to reduce the pain in my knee but helped me work out the cause of my problem, my poor walking and posture. What used to limit my walking is only now a minor ache sometimes and I'm confident with better care and time can be eliminated all together. Do yourself a favor and get her introductory 3-massage package. You'll feel so much better and you'll have a great person looking out for you.

Courtnee, of Artful Touch, offers a great massage whether you are getting it casually or need focus for a particular problem or area. Her attitude is open and friendly and she really cares about her clients and their comfort. If, like me, you'd never had the experience of a massage purely for the sake of your own comfort and relaxation, then you should do so soon. And you should start with Courtnee. Her location is centrally located for anyone in the greater Seattle are and her evening hours are convenient for after a rough day at the office. Her massage suite is peacefully lit and tastefully decorated, and she plays soothing music during your appointment to contribute to your overall relaxation.

Community Acupuncture Clinic…read more Yes, when I turned 60 (a while ago) the dreaded aches and pains started showing up everywhere. Also, at that time I read the book, Younger Next Year which I haven't been able to get out of my head. Though I can't tell a lot about chapters mostly aging and staying motivated, I do know that the premise is keep moving! Three years ago some part of my nerve/tendon/muscle structure got pinched. I'm not sure of the origin of it but it was likely from trying to lift (and drop) heavy boxes headed for the attic. My job (Metro bus driver) provides me with good insurance, so I first went to Ballard Health Clinic for massage. Though I have an excellent opinion of BHC, the pain and range of motion issues were getting worse. Driving a bus for hours really pushed me into an overuse situation. While this was certainly a bother, my stiffness was tolerable. The things changed as I would wake up with pain and tingling down my right arm and hand. Painful to the point of keeping me up for hours. Continuing to bus drive, do yard work, and play toss was putting me into a spiral I didn't understand. With Sonja's help, and support from my primary and BHC I learned my pain and problem was Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), which involves compression of the nerves and arteries in the lower neck and upper chest area. I've known Sonja a very long time, and we've talked about her practice at the clinic, but I didn't understand acupuncture. I would come to the clinic, find my favorite chair and needles were getting place everywhere. With TOS and overuse, it took several visits to reverse this spiral. Stretching and icing also helps and now I can get into a preventative routine and use CAP/Burien to keep the chi moving. One more thing... about my insurance. Even I figured out how to self-submit to Regence and access my benefit. Part of keep moving is to not allow things like a little paperwork to become roadblocks. I value a lot the positive support and encourage of CAP/Burien to stay active. 70 is just around the corner. Patrick

I wasn't a skeptic by any means, but I do sometimes suffer from "if it doesn't work immediately, it won't work at all" syndrome. So I remember telling myself to treat it like physical therapy. Commit to going in regular intervals for a reasonable period of time, and expect improvement to be slow and steady. I suffer from an autoimmune disorder and am already showing signs of a secondary one (which according to my doctors; it's common for autoimmune disease sufferers to eventually start collecting bonus diseases). Working at a bakery at the time of my first sessions, it was difficult for me to spend long shifts lifting heavy bags of baking ingredients and getting up and down on my knees to clean the bakery machinery. One day, only a few weeks into regular treatments (twice a week), a coworker commented on how I wasn't using my mobility aids to get up and down and wanted to know how I was doing it! I couldn't believe I hadn't even realized! But after that comment, I absolutely started realizing ALL the little things that I was suddenly doing that I hadn't been able to without pain or help for nearly a decade. I felt like I had gone through a factory reset! My joints, my menstrual cycle, and even my mental health improved so much in such a short time. I will never be able to thank the practitioners at CAP enough for everything they do for me to keep my body and mind strong and mobile! If you are hesitant due to a fear of needles, or are confused about the community room setting, please do yourself a favor and at least give it a try! It could change your life.
