I recently had an intensive year of healing in the Bay Area which included working with a naturopath to remove heavy metals from my body with DMSA and naturopathic herbs. As part of the protocol, my naturopath had me get many colonics at Body Harmony. In fact, the colonics were once-per-week for my six-week DMSA protocol (DMSA is a pretty intense heavy metal removal medication). I later learned that the whole reason my naturopath wanted me to stay in the Bay Area for that year was so I could receive colonics from Anne, the owner of Body Harmony -- it was that important to the detox process. My experience with Anne was so incredibly beneficial, and I feel so fortunate to have been able to work with her on my heavy metal detox. She's such a seasoned, talented and intuitive colonic practitioner - it is truly her calling. I feel that the work we did together, as well as using Anne's infrared sauna, truly helped me to achieve the very best result from my detox. At the start of the DMSA detox, I had off-the-charts high levels of mercury in my system, and my lead levels were also extremely high. By the end, those levels were in the "normal" range, and other metals had also been significantly reduced. Hallelujah! I truly appreciate Anne's role in those spectacular results. In addition to her expertise and professionalism, Anne is personable and easy to talk to. She makes you feel comfortable doing something that would otherwise be fairly uncomfortable for most of us. And her space is clean, warm and friendly. Maple the friendly cavapoo who is sometimes in the office is the cherry on top! read more

This business owner chose to respond to a negative review I had posted about her business on another platform [Google]. I was going to let it slide because I felt her response was a testament to my review. Her response over 3 years later just rehashed my experience BUT [aside from one inaccuracy], she makes a few valid points. In recent times, we are facing suppression of free speech, domestic terrorism and just this "unkindness" toward each other. I am SO heartbroken. I have no idea what this world is coming to. We need to consider each other. And I am no different. I encourage any and everyone to think critically and arrive at your own conclusions about this small business and small business owner which is why I am rating her higher on Yelp! read more

Anne (the owner and primary practitioner) is awesome. Makes everything comfortable and runs a clean, discreet, patient-friendly operation. Highly recommend. read more

If you are not faint of heart and have been looking for a clean, relaxing colonic hydrotherapy clinic in SF, this is the place. It came highly recommended by yoga friends and I finally went a year later. I've only been once so far and I can't say the session was as fun as, say, NOT getting a colonic, but it is well worth how light you feel afterward. I am now signed up for their 5 series and will report back about the results. Ask for Jenny or Anne. They are I-ACT certified and use all sterile equipment. Ambiance is more like a massage clinic than a doctor's office. 4 stars vs. 5 because of location--it is not convenient to downtown or BART, so was a bit challenging to schedule convenient appointments. Additional information at: http://www.bodyharmony.com/ ________________________________________________ UPDATE: Finished the series and I feel awesome. Stomach is flat and I feel like I am a fuel-efficient machine! read more

Body Harmony - Day Spas Near Me - San Francisco, California

I had my first colonics here. Anne made me feel very comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. She was fantastic and the place was clean. I couldn't ask for more! Word of advice for those starting in colonics: if you have difficulties methylating or detoxifying, be careful. I got an immediate allergic reaction after the treatment. I thought I was being attacked by mosquitos! But Anne gave me some water with lemon oil and the reaction went away pretty quickly. I think that someone in worst shape than me physically might have more trouble... A lot of toxins get released at once, so be very careful. read more

Feelin mighty clean at the moment. In fact all "pooped" out. This place is very good at the internal cleanin. Did my first visit and it was not as bad as I thought. In fact, um, err, I liked it. I'm going back! Very pleasant experience! Jennifer was very very very comforting and made me feel relaxed. Rooms are very quiet and comfy. Since we all are full of it, this a great place to get rid of it!!!!! UPDATE UPDATE: Back for visit "number two" (LOL) This time Natasha was my administrator. After my first wonderful experience, I didn't think that it could get better. But it did, much better in fact. I was more relaxed, more comfortable and understood the process better. A few things to note. There are absolutely no smells. In fact the place is spotless. Everyone one smiles and makes you feel so comfortable and not embarrassed in anyway!! This too was a bootyful experience! read more

I wanted to go here for a colon Hydrotherapy session, but I have to admit that I was afraid. But after reading the recent reviews of this place. I decided to give it a try. It was a cold day and I was freezing when I arrived,. The receptionist was so nice and comforting and within minutes I met Natasha who guided me into a very comfortable room that had a very warm and calming mood. After being guided through the procedure and understanding just what to expect, I felt my fears were gone. The session was very relaxing and the conversation during it with Natasha helped me feel less embarrassed and comfortable with her professional abilities. This is a great place to add to a detox program and I really appreciate the relaxing atmosphere. I give this place all five yelp stars and Natasha I give 10 stars!!! read more

5 stars for having someone stick a tube in a place where no tube should be stuck and pumping you full of water and then sucking it back out, you ask? Before I tried it for myself, I also thought it was insane to go through such an awful sounding procedure. But you know what, it is NOT that bad. Anne is so disarming, you never feel weird, she is funny, easy going, sweet. And the procedure will make you feel lighter and cleaner than the day you were born and since I dont remember that day, I go to Body Harmony to clean out the pipes. I suffer from food allergies, and intolerances...sometimes things dont move as well as they should...this place makes me feel so good and the affects last for a few weeks. I have gone twice and will be going about once a month from now on. read more

Seeing as there are a bunch of yelpers suffering from an overindulgence of Brazilian meat. . .I thought it might be a good idea to highlight this form of health maintenance. Colon health is important. Body Harmony does a great job of helping you achieve that health. Body Harmony therapists are wonderful and nurturing, allowing you to feel a little less weirded out that someone is sticking a plastic tube up your bum in order to get the poo (some of it being very old too, you don't want that in there!) out. Yes of course it's awkward but, after a couple visits, you get over the initial shock of a complete stranger looking at your um, ahem you know what (two words, starts with a "B" and rhymes with roll). Besides, the light, clear, and totally amazing way you feel afterwards will give you a buzz that will let you forget about the rest. . . until of course, the next visit! I can't believe I'm actually writing a review of this (and Miri D. is probably feeling faint if she's even gotten this far, sorry Miri!). What you should take from this review is that I take complete and holistic care of my health, and you should too! Yeah Body Harmony! read more

Ok, it's taken me some time to do this. I think it was actually last April when I went and my experience was somewhat horrifying. But writing about it on here? A bit embarrassing. After reading all of the glowing recommendations, I was confident in the services of Body Harmony. It didn't seem like anyone had anything bad to say. Then I realized that a bad colonic experience is so uncomfortable and awkward that it was no surprise more people hadn't written about them. A few bones I have to pick with them: 1) they do not explain what can go wrong with the colonic 2) it can be...for lack of a better word...messy. 3) carpeted floor. 4) no shower 5) no wet naps/wipes/towels/anything. To clean off, you get to bird-bath in the sink. not awesome. 6) the recommendations, when I actually thought about them later, were not helpful. example- "we're not seeing any undigested food" and then "you need to buy digestive enzymes". really? I will spare you the details. I spoke to another friend who had a similar experience to mine. Despite their many reassurances that this is "normal", the place is in no way set up to deal with anything going wrong, nor do they mention it ahead of time. A bunch of money down the tubes (no pun intended). read more

So after years of curiosity, I finally decided to do a cleanse this week. What I didn't realize I was getting into was the colonic / enema side of cleansing. But if I'm going to forgo my favorite activity of eating out for five days in pursuit of some sort of enlightenment about my body, I may as well embrace this cleanse thing fully. And so... off I went. I have to say it was pretty uncomfortable - but not uncomfortable in an "ok some stranger is here cleaning out my large intestine" but rather in an "ok that doesn't feel like it's supposed to be there" feeling. I mean come on, it's odd to have a tube stuck into your arse and your intestine's filled with water then drained. That said, Jenny was great, and she definitely made it as easy as it could possibly be. Four stars because I'm not sure I'm going to be going raving about colon hydrotherapy any time soon, but I can't imagine a better environment. I'm heading back on Friday for round two to end the cleanse, we'll see if the earth moves this time around. ________ Update: now that my 5 day cleanse has come to a close, I've got news for you all - guess which days I felt the best? Tuesday and Friday. Guess which days I went to Body Harmony? Coincidence? I think not... For the record, it was much easier the second time around. read more

This was my first colonic and it was a great experience! Mr. Hanky (and his friends) came out to say "howdy ho!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUeCG4powX8&feature=related I was a little nervous, sure. But the folks at Body Harmony made me as comfortable as a first timer could be. Jennifer gave me some tips based on the results of the initial session (basically, what came out of me....ew!) and information I provided about my current health and diet. I thought that they would try to sell me a bunch of stuff, but they didn't. She gave me information on services and products that they provide, but it wasn't a hard sell. Most people say that they have a sense of renewed energy after a colonic. I have to say that I was pooped! But seriously, folks, I did feel a little tired after the procedure and took it easy for the rest of the day. Maybe because it was my first visit. I will return for the 3 or 5 series. read more

I'm totally into the cleansing thing, and even though it is challenging to do a 10 day master cleanse fast + colon hydrotherapy, I do feel pretty awesome afterward. All my friends think my dietary and health proclivities are rather crazy so it's nice to know that I felt completely accepted and comfortable here at Body Harmony. Rather than give you all the step by step details about my experience with my poo getting cleaned outta me - let me just say that if you are ever considering colon hydrotheraphy, Body Harmony is a great place to go. Be sure you ask for Jenny - she makes the whole experience better by massaging you during the treatment - a very nice touch!! read more

A few months ago I did a colon cleanse which consisted of taking Dr. Schulze's herbs, restricting my diet and for the final touch a couple of colonics. After the first colonic I felt more energetic than I had in YEARS! Anne creates a safe, clean and comfortable environment. Her professional and nurturing nature put me at ease immediately, and her guidance continues to support me on my mission to attain optimal health. read more

I'm a huge fan of Body Harmony. They have a clean private atmosphere and do their best to make the experience as *normal* as possible. After my first session I felt much lighter with more energy. Highly recommended especially if you're going for a whole body detox, this place is awesome. read more

After having my fiance' rave for nearly 2 years about the power of colonic's I finally got up the courage to try one. Naturaly, I went to where my beloved goes! The process honestly isn't that fun. It is the first 30 seconds that are the worst! Afterwards however, WOW. I have never felt so great! I have been back once since my first and I am planning my 5 series within a month or so of this post. Highly recommend. The female therapists are really nice and not weird about me being a guy. read more

Body Harmony is the place to get a happy colon! Anne is amazing. Yes, it's an akward experience and I think of how laying on the table, having a bowel movement with someone else in the room is just wrong. But Anne always finds a way to make you relax and feel comfortable. When I decided to do the Master Cleanse again, I mentioned it to Anne and she recommended a book which was very helpful - I avoided common mistakes this time. Anne gave me encouragement along the way and pairing the Master Cleanse with a couple of colonics was beneficial. I have to admit, that my first few colonics weren't all that pleasant, but I have my dietary habits and lazy/disfunctional digestive system to blame for that. They get easier and I feel energized after receiving them. Colonics addicting? Body Harmony is a place with great people and highly recommended for first timers. When you're laying on that table getting your colonic remember... Breath and relax, you won't shoot the tube out. read more

Let me begin by saying that you need to feel pretty damn comfortable w/ a person b/4 you let her see you naked and shit massively in front of her. To that end (no pun intended), the therapists at Body Harmony, especially Natasha, do everything they can to make you feel as though getting naked and shitting in front of a stranger is no big deal. Natasha is one fantastic therapist! Not only does she make you feel very comfortable, she is also very knowledgeable in all sorts of holistic treatments. She's also super down to earth and easy to talk to. As for the actual process of colonics, for me, it's not always easy and painless, but I guess it depends on who you are and what kind of crap you've been putting in your body. If you've never done it before and you're on the fence, just do it! There's no reason to feel embarrassed about it--the only person who's gonna make you feel embarrassed is yourself! In addition to cleaning out my insides, colonics have really cleared up my skin. I've always had bad skin with really bad cystic acne that nothing helped--no face wash, creams, topical meds, oral antibiotics, or expensive facials --until I had colonics. Yeah, that's right, all that shit sitting in your colon rotting and dehydrating is manifesting itself on your face!!! GROSS! Think about it! It's much more disgusting to NOT do a colonic than to do one. People who poo poo colonics are full of crap--literally. read more

After being dragged in a bit squeamish of the whole idea of this, Body Harmony put me at total ease. Completely professional with state-of-the-art facilities, the place has a knack for not only cleansing my body...but perhaps a bit of my soul too. To add a bit to your treatment, try their new infrared sauna. It heats your body without feeling like you're sitting in an oppressive oven. I walked out last time feeling completely detoxed and pure. The skin on my face has never looked better. You have to try it! read more

I want to add my voice to the chorus of praise for Anne and her team. The folks at Body Harmony create a very relaxing environment. I felt completely comfortable during my initial visit, able to answer all my questions with patience and without judgment. Subsequent visits have all been very positive and re-affirming. The treatment itself is amazing and highly recommended. Regardless of your motivation and any hesitation, Body Harmony is the perfect place for your first colonic. Staff will also help to devise a program for whatever you goals are (I was working on a detoxing fast). Recommended without reservation. read more

The colonic was amazing, comfortable and well administered. I really enjoyed Anne's presence and conversation and this is my go to choice for colonics in the San Francisco area. read more

After my first colonic I told myself "I am never doing that again!..."--but wait! keep reading! I had gotten a first timer deal at a place called Bio Therapy in Redwood city (they also have a San Francisco office) and it was one of the most abrasive experiences I've ever had. The best word to describe it, is just all around,"abrasive." The procedure wasn't explained, the woman that did the procedure barely spoke english, and it was incredibly painful. I decided afterwards that colonics just weren't my cup of tea.... But then, I got so sick and was so uncomfortable I decided to look to yelp for a better experience. When I read the Body Harmony reviews I decided to give colonics another try. I needed to get in somewhere quick and even though they were all booked the owner Anne squeezed me in because she could tell I really needed it. She talked to me about my symptoms and about what was going on on the phone and I immediately felt comfortable talking to her. The experience at Body Harmony was the exact opposite of my first experience. I felt extremely welcome, comfortable, and informed. The experience was very rejuvenating and I felt so much better afterwards. I will definitely be returning. If you've ever had a bad experience like the one I described above, don't give up--they aren't all bad, you just have to find the right people who really care about your wellbeing and comfort. read more

Wonderful place, exceptional hydrotherapists. You will be made to feel comfortable. Let's ignore Michael T's factually-incorrect review below because there are no showers here, there's a cozy quiet waiting area with a wonderfully attentive sweet office manager. This place is very clean and quiet. Yelp, please delete that clown's review. I just had 10 sessions with 2 different hydrotherapists. They know about diet and digestive health and how to properly navigate yourself through the cleansing process. They have a (one-person) infra-red sauna which beats the usual gym saunas any day. Through their non-judgement and kindness I've been inspired to be aware of what I eat and drink. It took my body a few sessions to turn around but now I feel much clearer and lighter. I love Body Harmony and will go back again. read more

I was very nervous to have my first colonic, but Anne was incredibly comforting and helpful at making this an easy and stress-free experience. She is very patient in answering all your questions and makes you feel at ease during what would normally be a very awkward and uncomfortable experience! She's really amazing, I highly recommend requesting her! The only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because of some after effects I experienced that I feel I should have been warned about. I had written on my sign-in form that I get migraines and was not warned that colonics can trigger headaches/migraines due to the stirring up of toxins in your colon. It was the worst migraine I've ever experienced. It went away after about 24 hours though and now I definitely am starting to feel that post-colonic clean feeling and energy you hear about. I would go back again because I do feel this is a really healthy thing to do for your body but just knowing next time that I may feel pretty bad for the 24 hours after. read more

I have to say...this review is LONG overdue! If you've gotten to the point where you're yelping colonic, colon cleanse, colon hydrotherapy then it's time for you to call Body Harmony! The owner was the one who did my session, and she was absolutely top notch. She made me feel comfortable (even as difficult as that is during a colonic!) and relaxed the entire time. She has a massager that she puts on your stomach to help break things down and takes your mind off of the process. She did a great job of explaining what she was doing, and why it was important. You may worry that it's painful or awkward, but I can assure you that if you try to relax and remember that you're taking care of your health, it is painless! If you can remember the last time you had a rough visit to the toilet (don't be shy...we've all been there), just know that that's MUCH worse than a colon cleanse! I always recommend to my friends to do a juice cleanse prior to a colon cleanse so that you can fight the toxins from both ends (pun intended...couldn't help it!)...if you don't want to commit to a juice cleanse, at least follow the nutritional guidelines on the BH website. It makes a difference! Long story short: I have had cleanses at 3 other day spas in the city, but BH is by far the best experience I've had. I'll definitely return! read more

I discovered Body Harmony the same year I moved to SF and have never gone to another colonic hydrotherapist since. Annie, the owner is spiritually grounded as are the other therapists. They are gentle, caring, and completely focused on helping you feel good about your cleansing. I have been getting colonics since the mid-1990's from the same therapist when I lived back East. I was nervous about being in a new city with a new therapist, but Body Harmony dispelled those fears in 2003 and I've never looked back. The office is a wonderful oasis and respite from busy Van Ness Ave. I only wish I could afford to go more often! read more

Having been the office manager at Body Harmony for 3 years (2003-2006), I can tell you from experience and client feedback that Body Harmony is the best colon hydrotherapy spa in the bay area. I-Act certified therapists make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible, despite what could potentially be an embarassing situation. They incorporate massage and aromatherapy into the session as well. The office is calming (great lighting, music and aromatherapy) and they also serve yummy tea after your session. For the best results, don't eat for 2 hours before your appointment and eat lightly the day before. Good health to you! read more

This was my very first colonic, and I could not have been more comfortable throughout the process thanks to Satori. Everyone who I interacted with from my phone booking to the actual colonic to checkout was so helpful. I feel like a newly recharged woman, and Satori was so helpful and genuine with all of her wisdom. The team at Body Harmony truly cares about helping people feel better and informing them. I was not pushed a bunch of expensive products- in fact Satori's biggest concern was that I was not drinking enough water. Her follow up prescription cost me absolutely nothing- "Drink more water!" read more

My experience at Body Harmony was nothing short of awesome. Teresa helped me during my first ever session and I couldn't have asked for a kinder, more genuine person to assist me in an activity that could have so easily been uncomfortable and weird for a first-timer.
