We ordered two drinks , the Mojito and the French. They were absolutely terrible and we are not picky. I don't know what is going on, but it was crazy. The server was pretty short. The door was open to their patio and I walked out and he quickly said I'm actually not serving outside. It wasn't pleasant. I have your door open then. The sun was out. Came in on a Sunday evening and it's a small place that I wouldn't go out of my way for. They had these cards that you would swipe to fill your wine glasses, so you would walk around to find something you liked. There was a gentleman behind the bar, kind of. I needed a napkin and he was no where to be found, so walked behind the bar to grab a napkin and he came out of nowhere to scold me, "to not go behind the bar". So! Recently went to this place. All my years here, I've never gone in here. Of course I know and knew they had food, but the place is known for the wine. I don't drink. Like at all. I'm a rebel, I know. I'm on my latest...need to shed some of these pounds. Thankfully, it's working. That salad sent me! Kicked my weight loss journey into high gear!! Nah. Not really lol. The place is nice. Village location is small, but it's nice. The staff..I didn't get to interact with much. The guy at the bar who took my salad order was nice even though he was insanely busy. The entire staff seems too focused on being fast and they forget to chat it up with the customer. I get it, but it's ok to have a little chat with your customers. The guy who helped me was cool. I was watching other staff who literally said nothing to their customers. Dropped off stuff and bolted. It was weird. Yes, again, I know it gets busy, but paying customers are just that..paying customers. I still think this place deserves the 5 stars. The salad was one of the best I've had at a restaurant. Absolutely LOVED it! But oooooh, chyle! It was expensive! I think I paid like $18? And that was for the half salad. Full Caesar salad is like $24! For A. SALAD!!! Mind blown!!! Will I make this a place a regular stop? Nah, haha. I saw them dropping off Mac n cheese to a few people and holy sh^t! It looked SO GOOD! I was so tempted to "86 the salad" (golden girls reference..she. 86'd the watercress tho lol) and get that Mac n cheese. Then I remembered what I was trying to do and thought....fk that! But then remembered again and stuck with my basic salad made out of 24 karat gold. I get why this place is popular. The food is good even if I just had the expensive ass salad lol. I'll never know what the wine is like tho. I used to do winery tours back in the day. It's not that I don't like wine, I just hate drinking haha! Let me tell you, every bone in my body really wanted to like this place! I'd walked by it 100 times and always thought they only served wine (not a personal fan) so I never even made a second glance at it. I was sitting outside the village on 5/18 and walked over just to take a peak at the menu, only to find out at that moment that they have a full bar! Unfortunately everything kind of just kept going down hill from the moment we sat down. I'll start off by saying, the bartenders that were working there are nice people, don't get me wrong on that. However, playing your own personal 90s grunge music at a wine lounge was not meshing well with the overall vibe. The guy making our drinks had his shirt inside which I just find extremely unprofessional. Multiple times we'd ask for water or napkins and they'd forget until 10 minutes later. It wasn't busy... My espresso martini tasted old and was way too creamy, I don't think I even drank half of it. The only decent thing was the Salumi board (pictured). Bodovino at the village doesn't compare to the downtown one or anywhere else in the village but it never seems to be full so I want to share my experiences to help them out! It's in the heart of the village right in front of the park which is great in the summer because parents can sit by the open garage doors and watch their kids while enjoying wine and the best food in the village! I LOVE the indoor/outdoor feel! My girls and I went for Mother's Day and shared the mushroom poutine & classico flatbread! Both so delicious! This is not the first time I have had their flatbreads and I consider them one of the best! You can serve yourself by tasting the wines or they have an extensive cocktail list and even some beer. I have to mention that Bodovino is located in an outdoor mall near a beautiful fountain and stage area (in summer). My experience with restaurants in this type of setting is that the location is the feature, not the offerings, but it was gorgeous outside... That said, my experience began as I was walking toward the restaurant to meet my friend for a light lunch and a glass of rosé, when a smiling young woman complimented my style. I appreciated that - it made me feel good. It's not often at 63 that I receive notice. I also ran into some friends and stopped to chat, so it was a few minutes before I reached the restaurant and met up with my lunch mate, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the same smiling face behind the counter. I knew we'd have a good time, regardless. We chose to be seated outside. It was "quiet" in the restaurant and we had the attention of both servers. They didn't hover, just paid attention to our needs and answered our questions about their wine, (1/2 price bottles!!), and food. We ordered a bottle of sparkling rose and a Bodo Board to share. The wine arrived, was expertly opened, poured, and settled on ice. We enjoyed a couple of sips before our beautiful and generous board arrived - it had several samplings of meats and cheeses, fruit, and perfectly cooked French Fries!!! My favorite snack with champagne. I was so happy . We sat and visited and nibbled for almost 2 hours. Our glasses were refreshed as needed and that sweet girl, Jordan checked on us often enough that I knew she was paying attention. When it was time to go, there was still quite a bit of food left, and Jordan offered us boxes to tote it home, (which we did). I came here with my boyfriend on Monday Aug 12th, 2024 around 12:30pm and it was really good! We were greeted when we walked in and told that we could sit anywhere we liked. After we sat down waters were brought over and we were left to chat for a bit. Our waiter took our drink order first and came back to get what we wanted for food. The Sauv Blanc is amazing, and for food we ordered the burrata, vodka penne, and the spinach and artichoke dip... they were really good minus it could use a tad more salt. I have been coming to Bodovino since they opened. We used to be greeted and handed a glass unfortunately we feel like this place has extremely gone downhill. The service completely reflects such. We just stopped in to have a quick glass of wine prior to our movie. The bar tender looked up my card balance handed it back to me but never offered us a glass just said sit anywhere it's open seating. Every table filled with dishes. We found a set of seats in front of another bar tender. Not a word no acknowledgement. Went to 5 other tables. We decided to just walk out. I will eat the remaining 17 dollar balance on my card rather than waisting hundreds of brunch and wine dollars I used to spend here and give my money to some other business. After having a disappointing meal at Kona, we came to Bodovino to get some more food. I love this place - our daughter was able to play in the playground as we sat outside and drank a beer. Also, with Christmas around the corner, we were able to see some epic wipeouts on the ice skating rink. While Bodovino is known for wine, I'm not a wine drinker. I had a local double IPA and my wife had the mulled wine drink - both were awesome. The food menu was great. My daughter loved her butter noodles and the pasta we split was good as well. Brought a friend from out of town and have now been sitting here for over an hour, in an empty restaurant, and still haven't gotten the simple apps that we ordered! Came here to kill some time. Did the bottle of champagne and clams. I was so excited to try this place out since I love the one downtown but it was underwhelming. The waiter/bartender brought our champagne and juices walked away and we had no glasses. It was busy and he was running around so had to wait a bit to get the glasses. What a fun place to drink wine! I was in Boise visiting my BFF who moved hear recently and we LOVE our wine, its kind of our thing haha. So of course one of the first places she had to introduce me to was this wine heave. I love that you have the autonomy to pick from so many different wines. I also really appreciated that you can choose to get 3oz poor, it makes tasting new wines great! I loved that I could try something and not commit to a full glass unless I really liked it. This is one of the things I absolutely hate when going out, taking chances on wines I have never had before and often at a 200-300% markup. It was a bit busy and seating was very scarce but we managed to find a place after a bit of a wait. We didn't get much service as we weren't eating but they could have checked on us at least once or twice after the initial "how many glasses" encounter, my only complaint. Yeah, cool concept and lovely location in the Village overlooking the fountain, but the food's not great. Wandered in because I was starving and was immediately greeted by a friendly and eager server who sat me right away. He asked if I had been there before, and when I said I hadn't he proudly explained the concept of the restaurant: 56 wines on the wall ("56 bottles of wine, take one down, pass it around..."). He told me I could purchase a wine card and then serve myself, choosing wines based off of information cards located in front of each selection. He also offered to suggest a wine and pour it for me. I was on a business trip and pretty exhausted from the day, so I opted to just have him select for me. He asked if I liked red or white. When I replied, "white", he let me know he didn't know much about their whites. Awkward. He offered to find out more about their white wines, which he did, and suggested a Moscato and a Riesling--both of which aren't really my thing. To make things easier I picked red instead, and asked for something local to try. He recommended a Tempranillo, which was actually really delicious. He didn't offer to have me try it first however, but instead just brought me a big glass. Next came the food order: It's a pasta restaurant but they have a few other things too. I ordered a caesar salad and the Vodka Penne (I think it was Arrabia-something) with alleged "house-made vodka sauce". For $28, I got a bowl of standard penne pasta with a small amount of oily, salty, canned tomato sauce. Nothing about this was a vodka sauce at all, which is supposed to be creamy. It was SO salty. I paid extra to add grilled chicken, which was also extremely salty and the two combined was nearly impossible to eat. The chicken was also really fatty. I ate around it, mostly pasta that didn't have much sauce on it. Let me be real--I'm usually the type of guy to clear my whole plate, even if it's not the best, so it's pretty unusual for me to not finish something. Server, as I said, was very nice but could have used some more training. Food was extremely overpriced for Idaho and the fact that it was prepared so poorly made me feel wronged, even though it was on my corporate card. Wine was great, and I think that is clearly what they know and are good at. Plenty of people recommended other restaurants at the Village to me--just not this one. I saw in some of the responses on here that you passed the comments on to your "executive chef". He ain't no executive, let me tell you. Great service! I emailed to host a large party on a Saturday night and the GM called me personally to set up a table. I explained my 2 kiddos were coming and he placed us at a table right of front of the playground. Amazing! A meal during dinner was forgotten and they comped it and brought it out asap. So nice! Food was great. Service was not! Came here on Wednesday and was very disappointed. Servers were not very attentive. I ordered a flatbread which was delicious and my group ordered other things that were awesome! My water was never refilled from the moment I got there and it was a hot day. My check was $14 as I just got the flat bread, I tipped $10 in cash. When I got home that night I got a notification that my card was charged again for $3- not a big deal it's only $3 but I tipped 80% on a server who wasn't very attentive to our table. So they tipped themselves on my card? Just weird. I mentioned this to my group the next day and everyone looked at their bank accounts and realized they had also been charged extra. Much more my husband's and my lane for ambiance and format than the Bodo-downtown location of mothership Bodovino, the primary drawback for us for this satellite is its' location in The Village. (Yes. I am one of 16 people in the Treasure Valley who don't 'get' this Meridian mall.) There is also wood to chop for food quality and correct wine service here. Yet, were this in our neighborhood with it's casually upscale and unpretentious vibe, it could be a regular stop for a glass of vino if not food. There is potential. FEWER VINO MACHINES: A concept I've never embraced, auto-wine-dispenser machines are here in about half the numbers as the Bodo mothership. (I am not alone in skepticism about Enomatic machines: here is a good article. http://www.eater.com/2012/11/15/6521867/rage-against-the-enomatic-wine-dispensing-machine ) As example, there was a problem one bank of machines when we were in and a Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir and Coppola Patagora, glasses from bottles held in the same machine bank, were far too warm and ruined. Nebbiolo from another bank was the right temp. (See Friendly Staff for outcome.) OPTION TO ORDER OFF A WINE LIST: One can also order off a well structured wine list, (Reds offered old world and new world, Whites offered foreign or domestic), if one prefers this over the machines. (We do.) List has options by bottle or glass. Good news for sparkling wine lovers, there are several choices by the glass. Prosecco pours were ample sized and perfectly chilled. FULL BAR: Cocktail options at full service bar. Coffee service is offered on menu but was unavailable when we ordered it at dessert. TABLE SERVICE: Unlike the "musical chairs" arrangement of downtown Bodovino (you get up to get another sample from the machines and your seat is snagged by another wino, umm...customer while you're away), this location has table service for libations and food. Sign at entry says "please wait to be seated". I like it. FOOD: Creative menu from a kitchen headed up by former staff from Brick 29 but execution is very poor. Menu includes several starters and contorni that can be put together to graze through a meal. Entree service is a la cart. Some entree pastas can be ordered in "side portions". Good concepts BUT fine tuning is needed for quality and many of our choices were a salt lick. Examples... ...goat cheese gnocchi was doughy with only a hint of goat cheese and SO over salted that we could not finish the very small portion. ...pork braciole was served uncut so resembled a turd on the plate; it should be sliced and fanned out for service. ...artichoke risotto was creamy and toothsome but far too salty to finish. ...wild mushroom saute was good but had clearly sat and cooled in kitchen waiting on risotto. ...cacio e pepe completely inedible due to salt was returned to kitchen, chef agreed and made again with better outcome. ...eggplant in the caponata was spongy-underdone and too sharp with vinegar to pair with wine. All portions were quite small. A blessing given how over-salted all was. VALUE: Prices reflect The Village's high rent. With wine (two full pours, three half pours) and food, small plates for two without dessert clocked in at $85 after tax. SEATING: High perch seating at counter and some communal design tables (seating 10ish) in and out. (At least the high stools have backs.) Also some standard height tables in and out. On both visits, those were well used and almost no one using the high seating. Makes one wonder why so many places use so much of it. FRIENDLY STAFF: A warm welcome for guests. And when we reported to our server the too warm wine pours from one bank of wine machines, the manager appeared at our table to say sure enough, she found the machine in question out of order and "bottles are warm to the touch". She offered us additional glasses on the house. Nice of her, but we declined the free extras as we had enough to drink at that point and simply wanted her to be aware so she could have fixed what was broken. ACCESSIBILITY: More accessible than Bodo location for path of travel. Level in the door. Standard height seating options. Didn't check the loo. For winos on wheels, increasingly me these days as I've had MS for decades, heads up. PARKING: ARRRGGGHHH...The Village parking is always a challenge. Although less a challenge than downtown Boise, I guess. TIMING IS EVERYTHING: HH starts at 3:00. Some machine wines are 50% off and they have a HH plate or two. You need to time a visit carefully to avoid crowds even now and once folks figure out this is here, it should be even more bustling. No reservations taken. read more

First we tried to eat at Kona but the wait was too long. Walked by Bodovino and found seat yourself tables and found one on the patio. Service was slow, but I understood it was a Friday night. I accepted that fact and was still willing to give the place a try. Waiter finally came over and asked what we wanted to start off with for a drink. Let him know we were not knowledgeable of wines and were looking at the wine by the glass list. Asked him about recommendation, and he gave a few. He understood our actual wine likes and dislikes, and believe he took advantage of us. He brought out a bottle, and me being trusting I passed the fact of asking the price. So as far as that goes, totally my fault for not asking. But by the way the conversation was when we were asking about wines, not sure why he would bring out a 120.00 bottle of wine. Now after drinking the wine, I couldn't tell the difference between that wine and the normal 15-20 dollar wine that we usually drink. Not to mention I ordered a double old fashioned, and tasted super sweet that I couldn't even taste the Woodford. The food portions are terribly small and way overpriced. Waiter was more focused on his friends at another table, that after we got our food he was nonexistent. Overall, horrible experience. Food and drinks were disappointing. I hope the waiter was happy of his service, because making that sell versus building a repeat customer is a bad way to do business IMO. Definitely will not return and would not recommend this place. Also service has always been good (although I admit it can be a bit hot or miss... First off, I love this spot! So cute and so fun. Being able to pour your own wine or taste anything with a little prepaid card is amazing! Siona lynn helped me by immediately filling the Dao wine and answering all my questions was awesome! She was kind, attentive, and made me feel so welcomed!! I am giving two stars because the servers are good, but the food tonight was, omg, sub par and like my 10 year old made it ....the Aglio Olio was just so amateur and zero flavor....I had the "Bolognese" pasta , but was nothing "Bolognese" about it. It was suspossed to be on linguine but is was spaghetti noodles with pasta sauce with some ground beef and zero spices ..Apparantly they have zero clue what Bolognese is.....lol. NO KIDDING.....the pizza was very little pepperoni and too much cheese....and my friend had a salad and had most left so she wanted to take home but they were out of to go boxes at 7:30... Nice wine selection, but small pours....would not go back for the food ever unless you have no taste buds of think bolognese is bland pasta sauce with no spices ground beef. read more

My wife and I dropped into Bodovino last night to get a bit to eat before our movie. We had been in before to sample some wine, but this time we thought we would sample the food. I'm so glad we did. I ordered the fried calamari, seared sea scallops, and a bowl of soup. Of course, we could not avoid sipping on a couple of light pours from the wine machines with our meal. As far as the food goes, it all exceeded my expectations. The scallops were amazing. Crunchy seared on the top and bottom, but perfectly cooked in the middle. Delicious. The Calamari was delicious as well, and my wife stated that soup was very good. The place was busy and pretty full, but we found a place to sit at the bar. The service was great, and we were able to make it to our movie with plenty of time. Very enjoyable place! read more
