On our Way back from our July 4 holiday in Lynchburg, required stop was here at Bodo's. First time for a lunch sandwich, as we have always enjoyed their breakfast bagels before. So many choices! Cheese & avocado smear and an everything bagel for me. Fiancé loves the Everything Bagel & ordered pastrami, Swiss & mustard. Their precision efficiency should be the gold standard at every retail establishment; they are incredible! So affordable and always leave with a full belly & a huge smile. How can you not LOVE Bodo's!! Lastly...whoever gave them 1 star because they couldn't sit down inside & required to wear a mask...some people should just stay home. Every time I go to Charlottesville, my boyfriend and I have to stop here. Great bagels, great prices. There may be long lines, but they go by fast and they are worth the wait. Good egg sandwiches (they call it egg bagel on their menu). Additional fixings aren't much extra, less than a dollar each, and there's also a couple of added condiments for free as well. Bodo's makes all the Charlottesville lists and wouldn't you know it, my hotel was steps away from one. The inside is closed a la Covid practices, but they set up an amazing drive through. Since we were in foot, we got to walk through a drive through but, before we even got there, a lovely lady took our order. It was ready ASAP and I loved the chewiness of my plain bagel with lox and cream cheese. I'd definitely come to this place more if I lived close. read more

Definitely did the job! Ordered 55 of these bagel sandwiches for the team I work for, who predominantly reside in the northeast, and they were stamped by their approval. Some even said it reminded them of home. I'll take that seeing it's Virginia. Bagel tasted freshly made and when I went to go pick them up, you could see the bagels being made in the oven towards the back, which was a nice touch/not always the case these days. Excellent in terms of meat and topping ratio, ingredients were fresh. Only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because it's not New York, something about a New York bagel in New York hits different, but this was pretty close! read more

I'm new to town and Bodo's was recommended as a Charlottesville staple. I went in early at 730 on a Monday and it was relatively quiet. I went with the everything bagel with egg and cheese to give the inaugural try. Solid. Tasty free bagel with great flavor, eggs were of the scrambled fresh but def prepped for the morning rush--ready in under a minute and not piping hot. Reg American cheese was used. Nothing wrong with some good ol processed slices. Bagel wasn't toasted but I didn't ask and it wasn't offered, maybe it is? Maybe there are more types of cheese too but I was sleepy and again didn't ask and wasn't asked. Fast service but dudes at the register seemed more interested in their conversation that engaging fully with me. I've worked retail food service and managed retail food service. Could do a little sprucing of those skills but this doesn't look like the Uber cater to the customer place and more like the busy, know what you want ahead of time, order and go place. Solid and recommend. Looking forward to trying more here soon. read more

We came to Bodo's to get some bagels for my parents. They love Bodo's! They had recently bought some bagels from a bakery and hated them. My sister made sure to come here and get them a dozen bagels to put in the freezer. Covid precautions: All orders are take out or drive thru. Actually, it may be only drive thru and I don't know if they use an app delivery like Ubereats or DoorDash. The patient and friendly staff wear masks and gloves. They do not touch anything from customers including payment. We wore our masks to place our order and so did the other customers I saw. My parents like plain and cinnamon raisin bagels so that's what we got. They had a good looking menu with a good variety of bagels and cream cheese. My older brother, who was following us, bought some bagels too. The bagels: So I tasted the plain and cinnamon raisin bagels and I was surprised. They were just okay. Mind you, the lines were all super long so maybe don't take my word for it but I was underwhelmed. My older brother thought they were just okay too. read more

Very consistent place to come to for breakfast. You really can't go wrong unless there's a line out the door and you don't have the time of day to wait because you're on the way to work, etc. Grabbed a deli-egg for the 6th time over the past year. There's a reason the line is always so long and everyone in Charlottesville swears by this place!! Truly a Cville staple. The bagels and the cream cheese are both fresh and so satisfying. I ordered a whole wheat bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese! Thoroughly enjoyed it! The cream cheese is definitely on the sweater side, but was still delicious. If you're not a big cream cheese fan, maybe ask for it on the side or be prepared to scrape off. They definitely don't skimp out on it!! read more

Bodo's Bagels is absolutely phenomenal. The bagels are quite good, and this is coming from a guy who lived 20+ years of his life on Long Island. The various sandwiches they have are tasty too - the bagel with lox and cream cheese as well as the bacon egg and cheese are both slam dunks. Interestingly enough, they have delicious soups as well, I had the seafood bisque and it was fire. One of the best parts about Bodo's is the price. It is so reasonable that I find myself buying way more food than I need. I'd definitely recommend going here for breakfast! read more

Deli egg, avocado, tomato on everything bagel, sliced in half. Mhmm Freshly made bagels that are chewy, warm, moist.... just really good stuff. Been stopping by this location of Bodo's ever since I had my first one on campus. Recently I came here during the covid-19 pandemic and they did a wonderful job keeping the lines of cars to go through their drive-thru. There were two employees with earpieces and a payment device that was designed so we minimize contact. Although the line of cars stretched out to the road, the line quickly moved through this efficient method of ordering. This place is more than just bagels, their customer service is really good. I feel as though we all have our "go-to" order when we go to bodos-my personal is corned beef on plain with butter, lettuce, and onion. Have to recognize this location for the efficient operation-never a terribly long wait even during busy hours. And my bagels have always come out warm and fresh. Based on my last visit they seem to have relaxed on the mask policy (previously they wouldn't allow entry without one). I can respect the dedication to health/sanitation but I'd like to see this applied in house as well. Many times in the dining area people are wiping crumbs off the tables with their hands or getting employees to, wrappers/other trash is on the floor, etc. Would highly recommend this Charlottesville staple! Earlier today, I ordered a plain bagel with CREAMY peanut butter and that is what I believe is showing on my receipt. When I arrived home, I was informed that it had CRUNCHY peanut butter on it. The bagel was thrown out even before someone could have taken it. Later on I call to confirm the type of peanut butter you use and I was told only CRUNCHY. This information has to be updated on the register and all staff MUST KNOW THIS INFORMATION to explain to customers what you ACTUALLY have. read more

When we first walked in, we were shocked by the length of the line. But the service was fast and efficient so we didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. I ordered an onion beagle with egg, sausage, tomato, cheddar cheese, and jalapeño cream cheese. It was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth!! Everything was so fresh and homemade. The flavors melded perfectly. Now I'm sad because I'm from the west coast just visiting Virginia. We don't have anything like this at home. The line on a Sunday was very long but we got our food quickly. Staff was great and quick to take our order and get our food ready! What could go wrong with a bagel sandwich from a place that seems to be successful and popular with the locals, right? Well, apparently a few things. We came here on a Monday morning, and the sizeable parking lot was packed around 11. We walked in the shop was buzzing, but I didn't see one staff member smile during the entire visit, and it kind of set the tone for the experience. ++ Their sesame bagel had this chewiness and had more flavour than many others we've had. The line moved relatively fast and service was quick, if not particularly friendly. - - The lox and cream cheese we ordered certainly wasn't the most well built, as I struggled to keep the whole thing together until I finished. I found chucks of red onions - it doesn't make for the best eating experience for the customer, and it's easily preventable. Tomato and onions came with extra charge, and the cashier staff doesn't mention it and we weren't aware. All in all, the town has so many other options for a quick bite, and we'd be in no rush to go back here. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED! My family and i have been long time customers but this place has just been going down hill. It started with the occasional hard bagel, them forgetting something on a bagel but today was just ridiculous. Luckily i gave birth to my baby last week or this could have been a devastating! My husband went to this location this morning and got me a BLT onion bagel and him turkey DELI meat on an everything bagel. When checking the bag, he noticed they mixed our bagels up and out his order on an onion bagel and mine on an everything bagel. He went back inside to have them remake the bagels. No big deal. He comes home with our food and we start to eat. I got halfway through my bagel when i realized there were bits on turkey all over my sub.... I'm guessing instead of remaking the sandwiches, they scraped off the insides onto the others bagel. PREGNANT WOMEN CANNOT EAT DELI MEAT!!! It puts them at risk at catching listeria which can cause miscarriage, still birth, preterm labor, etc. Luckily i had my baby last week or else my baby could've been put at risk. All the other mistakes they have been making recently can easily been forgiven but this was too much. The laziness here could harm an unborn baby. read more

Ahh where to begin with Bodo's, other than it's the only place I will willingly wait in a 100+ person line for at any time of the day! The bagels are hands down the best in the state of Virginia, and they offer an incredible amount of different sandwich, topping and cream cheese varieties to spice things up every time. My favorite so far is an avocado, egg, and cheese on everything, and my boyfriend's go-to is the pastrami, egg, and cheese on everything. Bodo's is vegetarian and vegan friendly, which is always an added plus. My only gripe to pick is that I have to bring my own hot sauce because there is never any out and available when we drop in. read more

We really wanted to try Bodo's Bagels while in Charlottesville after reading such good things and went for breakfast. This is a local owned bagelry with 3 locations. I was surprised how much like a fast food restaurant the line and interior design were. Reminded me of the Bojangles in NC. This is a NY boiled style bagel shop. I had the sausage & egg then added cheddar. The cheese did not even begin to melt with the way they are quick served. I also had a plain bagel which was only so-so. I should have tried wheat or everything but the plain was lackluster and flat. Service was fast and coffee was hot. Oh and the bagel door handles were adorable!!! read more

Charlottesville staple since the late 80s... on the list for University of Virginia graduates to be ticket number one at the corner location...fresh fast and friendly... Ok the bagels are delicious & delicious enough for me to bake outside & wait about 30 mins from line to exit. The cashier Merry was super sweet. The disappointment came when my lox, cream cheese, sprout, & tomato toasted bagel was over toasted & un cut. It was a disaster to try to eat & there was basically one small piece of salmon with 2 tons of oozing cream cheese. They were super busy, but I took 30 minutes out of my day to choose their store to purchase my food. I hope next time I drive over an hour to purchase food there that it is better. read more

Five Stars just for the speed and efficiency at which they move along. When I arrived at Bodo's there was a line out the door and that's usually a sign of a good restaurant but a bad experience (especially during covid) as you'll have to wait a long time to get something as 'basic' as a bagel, yeah not here. They have their system down to a 'T' and it seems rare, legit rare that you'd spend more than 10min at this establishment from arrival to paying for and picking up your order. The bagels themselves and how good they are have already been covered in other reviews, so I won't even bother with that. I just want to highlight how dedicated and smooth this team is here and how much I appreciate that. read more
