Uptown Social is only two blocks from our house; it's become a magnet for college singles. If you're over 30, go early and leave early. If you go after midnight, yes, it'll be a little over the top! US's perks include: Karaoke where you can actually DANCE and interact. The karaoke setup is unique and fun. Specials! (drinks? Yes, please!) So many rooms (upstairs has the best sound) So many bars (you can always get a drink fast) We've been to US for dinner, drinks, Bridge Run, two special events, and just out dancing with the gals on a weekend. You know EXACTLY what you're walking into depending on the day/time. Specifically, we'd like to compliment US on being so organized; the bouncers are dependable and maintain order. The MIDDLE upstairs dance floor sounds great and feels like a cool house party. Where is the music coming from? Who the hell cares? Not a bad spot for some American grub and refreshing drinks. We stumbled upon this place in search of lunch and ac, and they were luckily able to seat our big group. Four of us came in for Thanksgiving special and the experience was very disappointing to say the least. The restaurant wasn't busy but the service (Olivia) was abysmal. She brought two of four of our meals out (chicken parm was burnt) and never came back to check on us again. After we flagged her down and told her about the missing food we then waited another 40 minutes to get our "Thanksgiving special". When it finally came it was ice cold. The server was incredibly rude and dismissive after that and it took her another 30 min just to get our check so we could leave. There are many other great places in Charleston to spend your money I would definitely pass on this one. read more

The restaurant was 3/4 full when we arrived. Server Timothy ignored us the entire time. Manager Kyle was a complete jerk. We waited 2.5 hours and one of our pizzas never came. I've been coming here for almost a year now... never my first choice on a night out but sometimes even I succumb to peer pressure. The drinks are grossly overpriced and small. They pack the place to the brim to the point where you are just shoulder to shoulder with people all night long. The volume of music even for a club/bar is insanely high so be ready to shout to the members of your party even if they are only 2ft away. Next topic the music is AWFULLLLL! If you're a big EDM fan by all means this is your place but if you're not steer clear. I'm not anti EDM either I just don't believe EVERY song has to be remixed. The only upside to Uptown is that they are one of the larger bars/clubs in the area but still with the extra space you're too cramped to enjoy it. A night at uptown to me just means a hefty tab for mediocre drinks and a huge migraine. read more

My husband and I decided to give them a try since we didn't want to drive, and was convenient to our hotel. The service was great! We really like the atmosphere. It is a sports bar with plenty of tv's. Our food was good. The burger and fries were filling. The only negatives would be the wings we ordered were a bit dry like they had been sitting under a heating light and the lemonade and tea was awful! The tea tasted like it was made from a can, and the lemonade was sour and not sweet. Our server was great with switching it for something else. Overall we enjoyed our meal. read more

It's rare I leave a review. I walk up to a long line and they told me $50 per head to skip the line. I pay the $300 plus a $50 tip to do so and within 5 minutes of being inside, the owner son walks up and says " thank you for paying, now leave and proceeded to have security remove us." I have never been to a bar that does a cash grab then removes the guest before they even get to the bar. read more

First night out in Charleston my husband and I came into Uptown Social for some food and beers. We had a great time watching the football games and listening to Midnight City Band. We ordered the General Tso's and Sweet Buffalo Truffle wings and the Baked Chicken Parm Sandwich. The Chicken Parm sandwich was one of the best we have ever had on this awesome fresh bread, the wing sauces were very tasty as well. Following YelpCon headed across the street to "Uptown Social" Because my feet hurt and I wanted someplace to sit down (partially joking) ok this spot was conveniently located on King street and our server was outstanding! He made great recommendations on their pizzas and other menu favorites. The music was nice but not too loud. I enjoyed my appetizer and the laid back atmosphere. No cover charge, and they have a roof top bar area! Average pizza price was between $13.00 and & 16.00 and they are about 12 inches with a thin style crust. read more

We had my 30th birthday at Uptown Social in the Copper room for a roaring 20's themed party! I can't say enough about the staff and how awesome the overall ambiance is. Incredible rooftop, great event rooms for yoir birthday party or any event . HUGE shoutout to Mirelle for her decorating services and helping me plan the bash! Giving 5 stars based on local sports bar... not in a class of capital grille or other high end restaurant. Great independent sports bar across from the Hyatt House. Had such a great experience the first night I ended up going back the second. Is it fancy...nope. Does it have great tvs for hockey and other sports yup! Cold good beer selection....yup and really good pub food and house made pizza ...yes! The bar staff was awesome to top it off. We've always enjoyed Uptown Social as a fun bar with a younger crowd and great deals. We haven't been since Covid but visited today for Bodega breakfast sandwiches and they were so good! Very disappointing experience. Came in a big group. The server recommended the pizza so I ordered a veggie pizza with vegan mozz. Everyone's order came out, which is when I was told my pizza was messed up because the cheese made the pizza too soggy. By the time everyone was about finished they came out to tell me that they AGAIN messed up the pizza. I was offered fries and when I declined they pretty much gave up. I ended up snacking on everyone else's sides. Not sure why there is something on the menu that they cannot make. More like a cheesy garlic dough pan. Oven baked chick parm - with fries. Y'all, these curly fries (kind of reminds me of Arby's fries) are one of the best restaurants fries I've had. Perfect crispiness, seasoning, and pretty addicting. I was gushing over these fries. Okay, enough; the chicken parm bread was in pizza bread (me thinks). Crispy, cheesy, covered in marinara sauce that is not overwhelming. The sauce really compliments the overall sammie without trying to over shine anyone else. The portions on these entrees, man. It could feed families! Love restaurants that are not stingy! And service was great. We had 3 different people check in on us :) They asked for our IDs to get in so make sure you have that with you. I love that they have roof top dining upstairs with live music (downstairs and upstairs). They even have some room for a little dancing too! Also I love the decor, it has an industrial, historical and modern vibe to it, with low lighting. Very cool and keeps with the Charleston charm. The food menu has several options, with something for everyone. I love the variety of pizza flavors and my favorite is the truffle parm fries!! AMAZINGGGGGG! The portions are perfect for sharing too! Fun atmosphere but drinks are watery and customer service is horrible. My drink was made wrong and I approached the bar to ask for a new drink as they made mine wrong. The girl bartender asked what I wanted and I told her. She continued to say that that was the drink that I had and what they made. This is one of the best day drinking bars I have ever been to. Their roof top is so much fun, great live music and friendly bartenders. Prior to coming upstairs we sat in the main area for food and drinks. The service was good, cheap drink prices and decent food. I got the US smash burger which was nothing spectacular but was decent. We also came back here in the evening time on a Saturday night. They played mainly country music live and then rap songs over the speakers as the night continued on. Overall, I would come back to have some bar food and go to the rooftop in the summer for live music and drinks. read more

This is a great place to dance on a Saturday night. It was $10 cover to get in. When we first arrived they had a live performer and then switched over to a DJ later in the night. There was a different DJ on the upper level and they played some great music to dance to. It was pretty packed, so it was hard to get drinks, but the bartenders were quick in getting everyone taken care of. Overall not too expensive, unless you order crazy mixed drinks. So obviously to a Bravo fan it's a tourist type place. I know of Uptown Social from the references on Southern Charm. I didn't suggest it but we were near it when we wanted to grab a quick bite for lunch. It's a bar. We didn't expect much, just typical service and food. I want to say it was "Social" but it was a pretty empty downstairs of only 4 tables of people and my husband and I at the bar. It took the ONE bartender/hostess/server 10 minutes to talk to us. We realized right away the situation and it wasn't an issue. What became an issue was the "No CHEESE, No anything hamburger" and "chicken fried to a piece of leather" was brought to us at lest 30 minutes later with sauce and cheese dripping from that plain ordered burger. When someone says "no cheese" why is that incredibly hard for the kitchen to get right? First time here, I get it, it's a bar at night but if you open to serve food, get it together! You are a photo op that most don't care about during the day. I didn't grab any pics because... like why. I will say: the ONE female bartender was friendly to us, was trying hard, running around doing it all which makes me wonder if she was completely on her own until another female came before we left. read more

There was a dj playing late 90s/early 2000s hits--loved it. The bartender was friendly. My boyfriend had a personal pitcher of the Uptown Social beers. He wasn't a fan at all. I had a grapefruit frozè. We peaked upstairs--it was a little too hot for me to enjoy being up there. But there was a dj and some people dancing on the makeshift dance floor. read more
