My friends and I went here for brunch for her birthday. They were very accommodating for our large party! They weren't able to split the check item by item, so we had to pay with one card, which can definitely be expected when you have a larger party. The food came out at a reasonable speed, although one of my friends didn't get her food until about 10 minutes after everyone else got their food. My salmon toast was very good, although the serving size was a little small given the price. I definitely could have eaten more, and had to have some of my boyfriend's Cali Bowl (which was awesome). The Cali bowl had a very generous portion of avocado--my boyfriend said it was the most he has ever gotten in a dish, and it was really flavorful and fresh. The chorizo was a little salty. I enjoyed the potatoes in his dish too. The birthday girl got the very notable French Toast Martini, as pictured... the French toast was a good sized piece... Stopped here as part of a food tour and there were some locals on the tour with me. They said this is a happening spot for night life with great bands and DJs so if you're looking for nightlife, apparently this place is good. I was just looking for food and what I ate and drank was terrific. They gave us some terrific crispy brussels sprouts with maybe some type of Thai sauce on them. It was really light, whatever the sauce was, but they were in the top three brussels sprouts I've ever eaten. Then they served us a breakfast pizza, that had eggs and sausage on it. We had a few pizzas to share but I ate half of one by myself it was so good. If you're hungover, this would be an amazing thing to eat and I was stone cold sober and I still loved it. I loveeee that they have 2 frozen drinks and different drink specials each day. They had tons of drinks and a food menu too! The truffle fries snack is so ridiculously large it came out as a giant mound of fries on an entire baking sheet - not what we were expecting, or prepared to eat that much, but they were so tasty! I loved how chill Uptown Social was during the day -- and then also loved how wild it was at night. I am NOT one to pay a cover.. but this spot was well worth the $10-20 cover they were charging. Uptown Social is a great spot for watching sports, I typically go at least a few times during the NFL season and it's also a really good for March Madness. Along with the super large main floor, they also have an upstairs rooftop bar with a few TVs as well. The food is pretty standard bar food along with some pizzas and other options. One perk is that they have gluten free bread available to sub out for the sandwiches. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries on the gluten free bread. Stopped in for a quick dinner on our first night in town. We were staying at a hotel nearby and this spot was convenient and the kitchen was open late (til 10pm on Thursday). Came in for quick last night dinner to wrap up our trip in Charleston. It was close to our Airbnb so nice that it was walking distance. This was around 6:30 on a Monday night. We had reservations here for dinner on a Saturday evening. ID'd at the door by security at 7pm. Our table had a cute reservation card addressed to our party name. There were many food and drink options as well as some frozen drinks as well. I ordered a wrap but the server must have misheard me, the sandwich version was good but not what I was hoping for. Fries were good. We also had pretzel bites for the table, they were pretty dark and burnt. Others had a wrap and a chicken parm sandwich which they seemed to enjoy. Even with the food hiccup, our server was great, I think his name was Tim, he made our time enjoyable and he was attentive. Once the band showed up, they start clearing out the tables and chairs to make it standing room only. I can't remember the band name but they were not good and out of tune (in my opinion) and volume was set WAY too high, painfully loud at over 110 decibels at times. My friends went up towards the stage but I hung back, unable to stand being too close. They also had a DJ playing upstairs on the rooftop but the area was packed tight, hot and humid. Overall, I think this is a fun place to hang out, eat, drink, and maybe with some modifications, a good place to dance and listen to music. It is definitely geared to a younger crowd and as I find myself getting older, I'd rather find a place a little more laid back where I can at least hear my friends talk. read more

We stumbled on Uptown Social walking from our airbnb, heading down King Street. We had just arrived in Charleston and wanted something low key and close to where we were staying. We're so glad we stopped. The place was fairly quiet but looked like folks were heading to the rooftop deck. We sat at a hight-top table on the main level which was a mix of vintage bar and sports bar with funky artwork and lots of TV screens. We grabbed some drinks, my husband had a Shocktop and I tried one of their Marg Meets Mojitos, a combination of Don Julio Silver, Simple Syrup, Mint, Soda and Lime. It was plenty strong and packed with flavor. I'm a bit of a pizza junky so we were both really excited to see Bar Pies crafted by pizza legend Anthony Falco! My husband went for the Buffalo Chix ($17.00) This twist on a Buffalo Chicken Pizza had a Calabrian Chili Tomato Sauce, Aged Mozzarella Cheese, Fresh Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded Chicken, Red Onion, Buffalo Aioli, Parsley and Chives. It was easily as good as the best Buffalo Pizza he had ever had. I'm usually a pizza purist but went way out on a limb and had the Wake N Bacon ($15) a Pizza featured on Food Paradise! It was a creation mixing Sausage Gravy, Aged Mozzarella, Egg, Breakfast Sausage, Twice Smoked Bacon, Herbs, and Grana Padano. And, it was RIDICULOUSLY GOOD! Uptown Social is such a fantastic spot - huge, with an equally enormous bar space, tons of TVs, and space for dancing and music. My husband and I came here during a trip to Charleston for happy hour, which is one of the best happy hours I've ever encountered (half off all drink orders from 4-8 pm) - we ended up staying for almost the entire duration of happy hour because the vibe truly is a social one. All the bartenders are fantastic, drinks are well made and poured quickly and there a ton of taps/bottles available. The food is equally delicious with a varied menu that offers something for everyone. We started with the nachos ($11), which are loaded with jalapenos, cheese, pico de gallo, and such a delicious crema on top - you can add meat, but we kept it vegetarian. Next up (and after a few drinks), we got the Stanton pizza, a white pizza that came out hot and crispy, as well as the truffle fries, which were well portioned and a great order for two to share (any smaller and they would have required two orders, because I am a hoe for truffle fries). My husband also ordered the chicken fingers because he's a child at heart, and was thrilled with everything. The portions are perfect for sharing, and again, the food arrives hot and delicious. It's easy to throw iced coffee in with vodka and add a bit of cream or chocolate drizzle. Yawn. Uptown Social used a coffee-infused liquor, actual iced coffee, then coffee flavored Irish cream to add the perfect amount of creaminess.
