The food here is amazing, and almost every time my husband and I go the place is packed. While the food is delicious, my only complaint is that service seems to take a while. It might be because the servers are spread thin or the cooks may only be able to prepare so quickly, but don't let that dissuade you from eating here. The food is delicious. Bodega 1205 is a must stop if you are any where near Columbus, GA. I had the Bodega Sandwich, ham, bologna, capicola with tomato and Swiss cheese. My partner had the Maritsa Freitas, fried pork sautéed with white onions. We also took their special coffee beans and the Chicken Pio Pio soup to go. I loved this place. Like really loved. The atmosphere is so bright and relaxing. The whole place has real character. The wait staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. And the food. THE FOOD. Unbelievable. I got the ribs, my favorite food, and these were the best I've ever had. Every element of the dish was perfect. Even the white rice was somehow mouth-watering good. The layout and décor of the restaurant made it feel warm and inviting and the wait staff provided all the info needed for their specials and also their recommendations. Just came back from central Florida where I got to eat some delicious Latin American food. Was interested in trying this restaurant just to compare to what I had in Florida. I was sadly disappointed. The location is great and had great atmosphere. The server was friendly and the host was kind when we were seated. We tried the Yucca fries, beef empanada, ropa vieja, and criollo. The Yucca fries were fine, they lacked a crunch. Beef empanada was sadly unseasoned. It seemed like they just cooked ground beef with no flavor and put some in a pastry. Ropa vieja was tender but it was really sweet. I thought this was really strange. Black beans had no flavor whatsoever, rice was fine and the sweet plantains were good. The criollo sandwich wasn't really spectacular, just a lot of pastrami on toasted bread. Basically, if you've never tried authentic Latin American cuisine you'll probably like this but if you have family that makes this kind of food or you've been to places where this type of food is around every corner then you'll be left disappointed. read more

Came to the restaurant for late lunch 2/29/2020. The restaurant is nice and very clean. Chose one of my favorite items from the specials. Ropa Vieja, with black beans and rice. We are Cuban. I'm not exactly sure what type of restaurant La Bodega is. On the outside it says Spanish/American. The Ropa Vieja was not dry as I know the dish. It was literally swimming in a liquidy tomato sauce of whidh it had to be fished out of with a fork, also the rice was somewhat undercooked. The black beans were good and tasty but came with a very small portion. The salad was good. We also had flan for dessert. It was a type of flan I have never seen and I have seen many cultural variations of flan in Spain, San Juan, Mexico North and South, Cuba as well the United States. This Flan was unique, not bad, not great. While I was somewhat disappointed with the meal in general, I will give it another try when I am in the area again to be sure. read more
