I cannot rate my experience here highly enough! Everything was so efficient, from the table allocation system (more on that in a minute) to the speed of service at our table. The food was delicious and plentiful as always; I had the pulled pork meal and my OH had a burger. We shared sides of onion rings and burnt ends (highly recommended!) They forgot to sub my fries for sweet potato fries, but the waiter noticed and brought an extra portion for no extra charge before I'd even clocked it (was too busy taking a picture of the giant feast, obviously!) As for the table allocation, we knew we'd be in for a wait (as is the norm with restaurants where you can't book), but they take your phone number and text you when your table is ready. We popped next door to the Wetherspoons and watched the queue countdown on my phone, turning it into a drinking game! Despite being 12th in the queue, our table was ready in 30 minutes and we returned to be seated straight away. All the staff were lovely and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. I live in St. Louis Missouri which has pretty good BW so I was a bit skeptical trying Bodean's. I had the brisket sandwich and it was more tender than I've had in many BBQ places in the states. I'm not sure if it was actually smoked since I'm not sure where you would do that in downtown London. Even given that, I plan to go back the next time I'm in London. read more

I was drawn to this place based on a message board posting that said Bodean's shows good old fashioned American sporting events. My plan was, head there round 6:00pm, watch the end of a "football (soccer)" match, have a drink or two and watch some MLB around 9:00. This all sounded pretty good in my head. Showed up at 6:00, sat at the bar, and ordered, to my surprise, Eagle Rare Single Barrel Bourbon on the rocks (this is my go to back home). Ordered up some food, burnt ends with coleslaw and cornbread. The burnt ends were good, however a large part of my portion was actually just some chunks of brisket that didn't make the brisket plate. The bits that were actual burnt ends were spectacular and had a rich, smokey taste. Slathered in bbq sauce, the meat was decent. The slaw was mid range, tasted better with extra pepper and some Cholula. The cornbread was less than desireable, pretty hard and dry and lacked any real discernible corn flavor. Enjoyed the meal with a Brooklyn lager and polished off an anchor steam before I was through. All that being said, I finished eating and drinking around 7:30ish. I was sitting at the bar with one or two people that came and went. I figured I could sit around for another hour and a half and have some more 'Murica beers, but the place was kind of a downer. There were no loud mouth soccer hooligans during the arsenal game and the whole place seemed to be staffed by either French or Romanian women. I went expecting a bbq and sports bar and got bbq from a place that had sports sometimes. I hear the other locations are larger, probably make my way to one of them eventually. read more

One of my old reviews from March this year. Been waiting for awhile to sample the bbq food here and got the opportunity when a party of 12 went here for my 30th birthday, despite the big party the service was really friendly and very professional, although they hit us with a £40 service charge (which we asked to be halved), anyway before i get carried away with all that let's concentrate on the important bit, the food. For starters i had the half dozen chicken wings with a hot chipotle sauce which was finger lickin' good, wings were golden brown and sauce was smokey and tangy, in between courses i supped on there own brand of beer which was very good, and of course sampled a couple of bourbon's, so on to main course, i went for the burnt ends and fries with a side order of onion rings, the ends where magnificent, succulent, smokey and juicy just what burnt ends should taste like, fries where average, but tasty as were the onion rings, but the burnt ends was the main event, melt in mouth stuff, superb. The bill worked out about £35 a head, which isn't bad at all, but all i would say is the drinks is where it hits you in the pockey, especially if you like your cocktails and whiskey. so our overall experience was a good one, and will be going back to sample the rest of the menu real soon, if you have never been, put it on your to do list. read more

I live in Southern California and have many great BBQ places to go to. Was very surprised to find this place near my hotel in London that was as good as most in the USA. The platter of ribs, burnt ends, chicken and pulled pork was delicious and they also have a nice selection of beers, which is always important at a BBQ place. I went here for my brothers 21st birthday the other week and what a brilliant way to kick start the celebrations! The decoration made us feel like we were at an American steakhouse and the food was mouth-watering. The staff were very friendly and always delivered with a smile. My only fault would be that it was very hot and stuffy downstairs, and a bit unusual to use a mixed gender toilet, but would definitely recommend to a party looking for an easy night out for good value and great atmosphere! read more

Great Barbecue in LONDON! This place was a short stroll from our hotel and we were drawn in by the smell which doesn't happen too often for me in London. My husband really wanted to try this place at the suggestion of his colleagues so in we went. I ordered a half slab of the baby back ribs which came with fries and coleslaw and my husband ordered the pulled pork which was also accompanied by coleslaw and fries. I also ordered a Stella Artois, and too late discovered that they had Dogfish on the menu - an American beer dubbed "The New World IPA". That cracked me up! read more

I've eaten at a lot of BBQ places and this is as good as any. Service was excellent, food was quick to the table. Only thing keeping this being 5 stars is portion size. It wasn't small, but it wasn't the usual amount that I'd expect in a place that styles itself as an American BBQ place. Coming from barbecue country in the United States I was surprised to find a place like this right in the City of London. A group of friends and I came here for lunch one day and the food was excellent. They do all the regular barbecue styles and treats that would be expected, and it looks like they had NFL games on during the weekend maybe. They also have a good selection of beers. The only downside was that the server was terrible at his job, and it took us 30-45 minutes to get our tickets, and then another 20 to get them fixed. I would definitely eat here again if I'm in London and craving American barbecue. read more

Some of the best barbecue I've had outside of the States. The ribs were great, the chicken respectable. Beer selection is good and focuses (exclusively?) on American breweries, especially Sierra Nevada and some of the macros (Coors in particular). Pleasant ambiance, decent prices. They show lots of sporting events so it would be fun to come here for that. Worth a visit more for the barbecue than the beer, but the beer is a nice plus. read more

Visited here for the first time for a birthday gathering in May. Welcoming atmosphere and decor was unique and fitting to this cuisine, we were sat downstairs on a large long table to the right. Service was slow and a little disjointed, with drinks being forgotten and waiting staff having a hard time understanding and communicating with us due to English not being their first language. Our food orders were eventually taken after several prompts but on arrival some had mistakes, but despite the poor service the food was very good. Tasty fresh fries, the burnt ends could do with a bit more burning but would definitely recommend anyway. The famous dry thunder chicken thighs were very nice but the diablo sauce although nice was not as spicy as I was led to believe or hoped although there was chilli sauce available on each table, although most bottles were empty when we hunted for more! The side salad I ordered with my chicken was basic salad leaves and two cherry tomatoes, this is very poor and disappointing and should be looked at. The portions were a good size so you definitely won't leave hungry! I will return to try some more dishes but perhaps another branch. read more

The main dining area for this Bodeans is downstairs (as is the kitchen) and the minute you start down the stairs that BBQ aroma floats up to meet you. No aperitif can work better than that. The decor is very typical of the other Bodeans and the big screens, which I find a little distracting, are on either side of the restaurant. Still a nice cosy warm atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. Chatting about rib combo experiences along Blouberg Beach restaurants, it was decided we will make up our own combo. The first thing our waiter did when he heard our order was to move us from a table for 2 to a table for 4 :-) The lamb ribs were superb, tender and tasty as were the Baby Back pork ribs, smoky and juicy. I was very disappointed with the beef ribs that were dry and so tough I had to slice the meat off the bone. That is a sacrilege for any rib eater as fingers are the order of the day. The extra BBQ sauces on the table, in different flavours, were good. I do recall some chips and coleslaw as well but did not try any, although it looked fresh. I would certainly go again as there are a few others bit on the menu that caught my eye and the ribs were ever so moreish. read more

Mixed bag here. There were some things i really liked, but some i didn't: To preface I'm an american who definitely has enthusiasm for bbq but was pretty much just here to watch nfl football. The good: - they broke their "schedule" to put on the game i wanted to see. - They had one of the better tap lists I've seen so far in my short stay in england. The bad: - the fact that all the tvs in the two story restaurant/bar have to play the same channel, which made them extremely reluctant to change it for probably the only people in the bar who were invested in an nfl team. When they did the game was in like 360p resolution which made it hard to follow. - they dont have bbq at all. I had ribs at this place and these ribs hadnt been anywhere near a smoker. They were most likely not slow cooked because they had little flavor and were pretty tough and dry. Honestly the worst ribs i've ever had. Also the ribs were mostly likely st. Louis style but were advertised as baby back. Appetizer selection was bad. The wings were REALLY expensive like 10£ for 6 and there wasn't anything that seemed snacky. If it wasn't for the service and the beer. I would have given this place 1 star but they get another one because if you want some good beer and to watch football in england this is your place. Just dont eat their disgusting food. read more

If you want meat, Bodeans usually hits the mark with its busy Americana atmosphere. Pulled pork, ribs and chicken are all good and there's a good range of American beers to go with it too. It's competent. Having experienced a lot of US BBQ while I lived there I can't honestly say that this is amazing. It's like a fairly pricey and somehow even-more-contrived TGI Fridays. The meat is cooked, though when you order don't be surprised that if 45 minutes later you are still waiting for your food and even when it arrives, it's not what you ordered. Luckily we got something fancier than we ordered at no extra charge- the waiter was very apologetic and I almost feel guilty saying it but it was late and it was wrong. It worked out alright for us but evidently this isn't always the case, sounds like there's something systemically wrong in the way they're running the place. I resent having to pay so much for the drinks! So there's Blue Moon, Brooklyn Lager etc and I understand these aren't quite as common as Carling and Fosters but they're really not so rare that you could mark them up quite so much. I didn't appreciate that, especially as they're trying so hard to go for the dive/ sports bar theme. There's not much in the way of a reasonably priced drink on the menu. The food was okay, could have been better seasoned but I'll hold back on judgement since I didn't get what I asked for so I can't really comment on that. I visited the Bodean's branch at Tower Hill with my family. We ordered the Bordean's Platter for 2 and the 1 lb beef burrito. The portion is big and was a little too much for the 4 of us. The platter is a good value for money. However, I find the food quite salty for my taste and the meat seems a little overcooked. However, the service is good and the ambience is nice. read more

Bodean's was my first taste of BBQ in the UK. I went to watch a college football game, and got the Game Day Special for £15, which comes with a rack of ribs, wings, friends, coleslaw, and a half-pint of beer. Not a bad deal. The ribs were decent, and satisfied my craving. The wings were alright, but the fries were good and made up for that. They also had a selection of American beers, which was nice. I'll definitely keep this on my list of places to go when I'm in search of ribs. read more

My husband and I recently had a good experience with the management staff at this Tower Hill Bodean's. We were unable to attend our Thanksgiving reservation and after a simple e-mail exchange, the managers Raymond and Irina were courteous and gracious to refund our deposit. My husband and I are pleased with the result. It's a relief when big restaurants still show personal attention to issues if they should arise. We will be happily returning for our overindulgence in American guilty pleasures. Truth be told we get most of the American Football games on our own TV, but we still love going to Bodean's for the atmosphere, the food and obviously the PBR bottles. read more

Best BBQ this side of the pond. Coming for the Southern US I consider myself a bit of a BBQ snob. This is by far the best that I have found outside of the United States. Went on a weekday at about 3 pm so the restaurant was empty and we got the best table right away. Server was attentive without being overbearing and quick. Ordered pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and an order of burnt ends for the table. The fries were AMAZING!! If Tower Bridge wasn't visible in the distance I could almost believe that I was in Georgia. Sandwich was decent, the burnt ends were a bit mediocre. Give me cornbread with cracklins' any day. Multiple games on the televisions and staff were more than willing to change to game that we wanted to watch. Mixed drinks prices were outrageous, but the atmosphere and food (minus burnt ends) made me feel a little closer to home. Also appreciate the takeaway so I can eat my BBQ at home in my sweats in front of the Telly. read more

While I love the BBQ, their substitution policy is absurd. To swap a side item for a less expensive side, you are charged a substantial surcharge. For example, swapping fries for beans will cost you an extra £1.75 for an item that is £.55 cheaper on the menu. Crazy that the manager stood his ground and lost a £30 order. He clearly has been instructed to give the "that's the policy" line. Until their policy changes, I won't be back. read more

Loved it! I admit that I was drunk at the time I visited the place, but even so, the food was divine! Just what I needed after having drunk about 8 pints on an empty stomach! Portions were large and were good value for money in comparison to other places in the area. The drinks were good as well, with a different twist to them such as pickle based shots!
