Update: this is definitely the best if the twickenham trio of bbq joints. Staff are quirky but very friendly. Dulce de leche icecream/shake is to die for. Wings excellent. Sweet potato fries great. St louis ribs good. Beans with pulled pork very nice. Avoid the mac and cheese options, and pickles. Update 2: chilli watery, lacking in depth. Corn bowl okay. Slaw good but spicy.

The outside and inside decor look like a really terrible American low-quality food chain and I wasn't excited to try it. But! We had the loveliest waitress, very attentive, very happy to walk through the menu and spot on. The guys had banana milkshakes and I loved that they came with little bright green curly straws - cute to see these manly men with their petite straws. The food was really lovely too. One colleague got the hot dog - it was incredible looking, enormous and slathered with stuff. I did think it would be impossible to eat with your hands, but he proved me wrong. My chicken wrap was really tasty and nicely done, and the fries were delicious - possibly the best I've had in a while. When one friend couldn't finish his sausage platter with mac and cheese, the waitress cheerfully wrapped it up for him so he could carry it away. Nice! The music was terrific, a great mix of old blues. So why oh why is there a big screen telly playing current music videos over the bar, complete with naked writhing women and gangsters? Shut it off - you're ruining the vibe you actually got me to like. Is it cheesy? Yes. But it's supposed to be. And it's good. But shut off that damn tv.

Bamboo - Not really Korean style serving.

Korean restaurants do serve with lots of side dishes called Ban Chan. Here, none. Food was so so and I was the only guest in the restaurant. Restaurant itself was not dirty so it was fine. I saw a few delivery sevise personnel come by to pickup foods.

I was really happy to find a korean place in Oxford. But Korean food is hard to do…read more I had high expectations which was probably my problem. First, they don't give a bunch of free sides that much Korean places do. They gave us two sides, one weird jelly thing (I wouldn't eat it again if they paid me) and bean sprouts. No Kimchi??? really?? We ordered some BBQ, bimbimbap and Soon Du Bu with kimchee on the side. The BBQ was good but were pretty small. We ordered a pork belly, that is okay and the Korean short ribs that were better. It didn't come with lettuce so we had to order that too. The bimbimbap was good and I would order it again, but there aren't many ways you can mess that up. The Soon Du Bu was okay. It was pretty watery and lacking in some flavor but I still found it comforting to eat. The Kimchee was bad! Like really really bad, like it left a bitter taste in my mouth instead of a bright vinegar taste. Don't order it. If we come back, it would most likely be at lunch for their lunch special. It might be better than.

Have been here a couple of times and really enjoyed the food. The menu has expanded over the past…read moremonths. We shared a couple of the starters; the pretzels with dough balls and the brisket hash. Both were very good, preferred the pretzel dish over the brisket. The brisket is in more of a gravy than BBQ sauce, and has a slightly bitter, smokey taste to it. I would prefer a more sweeter sauce, like the pulled pork is in. The chicken wings are tossed in a hot sauce, though you can request BBQ. We tried an array of their meats, our favourite being the pulled pork. I was disappointed in the brisket as it's no longer sliced but pulled now and as stated the sauce needs working on. The platters are huge and best suited for sharing. Their desserts are really good too, and again ideal for sharing. I had the brownie stack which was amazing. We really enjoyed our meal, however it is on the expensive side. Starters and desserts are £7+, mains start from around £13, £20+ for platters. We ended up taking some of our meat to go. They also have a coke freestyle machine so drinks are unlimited!! They have a selection of steaks I'd like to try next time I'm there. Enjoyable meal. Our server was very friendly but service is a little on the slow side.

BBQ is trending in the UK at the moment. And I'm not talking the sort where you burn meat (and…read morestill manage to undercook it on the inside) in your back garden, I'm talking 12 hour... slow roasted... pulled pork... Y'know - the kind where you have buzzwords trending on twitter and drooltastic photos appearing on here. It's THAT sort of BBQ that you can get at Grillstock. I was recommended Grillstock by our local BBQ expert, Ahmed Kage (if you haven't come across Rib Nights and you're a fan of meat, you HAVE to check it out). He had bigged up the restaurant as one of the best places to get BBQ in the UK - so we knew we had to make a date to go and see for ourselves. It was just lucky that we ended up passing through Brizzle on our way to Cornwall for our Honeymoon! We had read on the website that you can't book - but it was open from 11:30am in the week. We rocked up and arrived almost bang on opening time to grab some early lunch on our travels. We were greeted warmly and seated straight away. As it was early on a Monday, we didn't have any problems getting a seat... But I imagine on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday evening - it would be wise to get there near opening to avoid a lengthy wait for a table. After a quick look at the menu we quickly decided to go for the sharing platter. For £30 it had nearly every meat on the menu on it and looked like the right choice to try everything. I can confirm it certainly WAS the right choice! With everything from a full rack of ribs to chicken wings and pulled pork and beans, it was huge! You could sensibly feed three with the amount of meat, 'slaw and fries on offer, but we did manage most of it (with only half of ribs taken away in their awesome packaging for later devouring). All of the meat was totally fantastic. Tender, deliciously seasoned and cooked to perfection - it was some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Our meal (with a couple of fizzy drinks) came to under £40 with some food to takeaway. We didn't eat for nearly 24 hours afterwards either. If perfectly cooked meat at a reasonable price floats your boat - I recommend a trip to Grillstock!

I finally managed to get in there a few weeks back and was greeted by 4 people standing up and leaving, which meant we could sit straight down. The waitress gave us the basic but mouth watering menus and I decided on the Smokestack Burger. I really wanted to try the Grand Champion challenge, but I knew I wasn't man enough. The restaurant is made up of one table in the middle and a bar at the end, with open kitchen behind. Drinks wise they serve Orchard Pig cider, obviously, as it's the same guy owns Orchard Pig and Grillstock (what a legend) and a few other soft drinks. The food comes out on metal trays with nice branded paper underneath. The burger was delicious. Not the best in Bristol, but a very decent burger all the same. Our friends had the hot dogs and the brisket; the sauce around their mouths and instant silence said it all! All in all a decent place, Grillstock. There is A LOT of competition in Bristol for BBQ, Grill, Pulled Pork style dining - but these guys are the originators!
