Very good place for American BBQ. I shared some Pork Ribs, Beef Brisket and Mutton Shoulder. The Pork Ribs and Mutton Shoulder my favorites, the former because they were so tender that they literally fell off the bones while the latter because of the decisive taste of the meat. The only problem in all three dishes was the extra salt put on the meat. Meat was tasty and not blend at all, it really didn't need any extra salt and the bites with the extra-salt were overly salty, overpowering the meat and ruining it. Prices are fair and service is quick and friendly.

The brisket was very delicious. I couldn't order a pound of every meat like I do in Texas just cause I'm here visiting and don't have all week to eat everything. Maybe next time that I visit. The staff is very friendly and the owner is amazing person we talk about all the great bbq spots in Texas. I had a great time.

I was at the Shard with my partner and we were looking for a place for lunch. I checked Yelp and saw this place and we decided to give it a shot. I am very happy we did, because it has some of the best barbecue I have ever eaten. I got the pork sandwich and a side of brisket chili, and shared a plate of fries. The pork was absolute perfection, so flavorful and delicious that I didn't even need the sauce (served on the side). The brisket chili had a definite, spicy kick (I love things on the spicy side, but it may be too spicy for some). The fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Everyone working there was very friendly and welcoming, and the service was fast and efficient. It has only been a few hours since I ate there, and I am already anxious to visit again to try the other items on the menu!

Yum yum yum! I might be American by birth but the part I'm from has no barbeque at all. It's actually since living in London the past 15-20 years that I've tried lots of BBQ, including the chains and pop ups and even brisket from Franklin Barbeque (from Austin, TX) at Meatopia. My meal today at Texas Joe's was right up there in the top few. I had a brisket sandwich and was a bit dissapointed that it came pulled - I wanted to see the smoke ring. But the sandwich was £10 (and the brisket plate was £16) and to be honest, it didn't matter one bit as it was delicious. There were lovely bits of the ends and the flavour was great. The bun was a bit firm but it meant it held up to the meat (and the bbq sauce served on the side). I found the slaw and onions to be a bit sharp on the side, but paired with the rich meat, it made perfect sense. We shared 2 sides - mac & cheese and bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos. Both were really nice but be careful of the jalapeno as it got a bit spicy by the stem! I was stuffed but really wanted pie, so got a slice of pecan to go. It is honestly the best pecan pie I've had in London and I highly recommend it. A meal here isn't cheap but it sure was tasty, and the staff are friendly. We spent £50 for 2 sandwiches, 2 cokes, 2 sides, and a slice of pie. Worth it, though.

Even though I was tattooed near Hackney/London Fields, the artist had lived in London before (although they were visiting from Singapore) and she was able to tell me about Smokestak because I was staying in Shoreditch. I was seated without a reservation (rare in London, so I'm told) in this beautiful dimly lit dinner atmosphere. My server was no slouch and promptly let me know I had to try the brisket and recommended the crispy ox cheek, as well. I should have drawn the line there, but I continued on and got an Alcohol-Free/Non-Alcoholic drink and a plate of greens. I was stuffed. I thought I detected an American accent (specifically Californian) from the server, but it turns out she was Canadian. Vancouver, though, so maybe there's something to the West Coast and our dialect. The beef brisket is the best in London, and their mustard barbecue sauce is unmatched. I need to find a comparable sauce in California. The crispy ox cheek and anchovy mayo rearranged some of my taste molecules. Maybe it was how it was so perfectly crisp and salted so well? I felt like I was in Flavor Town, London, for sure. I'll never forget how confusing it was to find the washroom. It felt like I was a double agent, pushing open a secret door. It was such a non-descript door. I swear it wasn't a door at all. It was just another wall panel. I had to ask a stranger where the loo was before I wandered into the kitchen.

If oyu're feeling extra gluttonous, you can't go wrong with the Dirty Secret (not a well-kept secret!) which is a burger, topped with gherkins, their homemade peri-peri and (wait for it...) pulled pork. You probably shouldn't have another meal for at least 8 hrs after this behemoth. No way you're going to eat this without utensils! For a "lighter" option, their peri-peri chicken sandwich (I forget the name) is tasty and has a slight chance of you being able to eat it without the aid of a knife and fork. There's a reason why they're there every week at the market, while other vendors are rotated in and out; this team puts out consistently amazing food!

Baby back ribs: not necessarily fall of the bone type of ribs, but if you give it a good tug , some of the meats will slide off its axis. I enjoyed it for what it's worth. Obviously, the smoker is limited in scope , so I'm not expecting Texas style quality. Was a little chewy in some places, but also tender in others. Had a preference for the chiptole bbq sauce rather than the hickory. Fries were mostly good (minus the tiny bits). So close to the meats, the fries absorbed some of the smokiness flavor. Slaw: low-point of the bbq. They used way, way, too much dressing. Like it was flooded. Also the cabbage wasn't cut finely, but presented as whole chunk slices. Would definitely not recommend this one. Overall minus the slaw, I enjoyed Bodean's

Having previously eaten here a number of years ago in the evening after playing a show at the Bar &…read moreGrill, I was eager to try Smoky Tails' new breakfast menu - especially with the opportunity to sample some of the dishes for free this morning! Now, to be clear, I am reviewing the standard of food while heavily bearing in mind what it would actually cost rather than what I paid (nothing) on my visit. I'm also heavily bearing in mind that although the staff were excellent, I know that they would be so much more wonderful without a queue of 20 people outside and a rammed restaurant on the inside. So then, let's go! Straight down to business, I ordered the beef brisket hash with my fellow diners ordering the Eggs forestiere and the fritters. I also ordered a side of chicken. With my beef brisket hash, I thought that it was very tasty and the beef was cooked very well. As the most expensive thing on the breakfast menu, at £9, I felt that it was a very small portion. Therefore, I was very glad to I ordered side of chicken, otherwise I would have left hungry. In contrast to the beef, the chicken portion was plentiful at three small pieces and I thought that it was relatively good value for money too. One of my fellow diners ordered a side of avocado, which I thought was pretty decent too. The fritters were tasty yet, as with the beef, a fairly small portion for their £7.50 pricetag. I felt that the pièce de résistance on the menu was the Eggs Forestiere! A base of split muffin, with by far the tastiest mushroom that I have ever had, two perfectly poached eggs and topped with hollandaise (or in this case on the side!). This would be the dish that I would have when I return - I felt that it was a fair portion of food for the pricetag. In terms of the drinks, the freshly squeezed orange juice was super fresh and very tasty. Very good! Although my fellow diners who ordered coffee were nonplussed when it arrived in a glass as opposed to a cup or a mug! In terms of service. The waitresses that tended to us were very attentive and made us feel most definitely welcome. Even the manager/owner stopped by to have a chat and make sure that we were completely content with everything there. Either inside the main dining area or outside on the terrace. I felt like it was well decorated and with a great ambience to have a meal. The biggest letdown from my point of view was having to use the same toilets that belong to the gig venue and the Bar & Kitchen - they are very run down, smelly and not befitting of the pricetag and the classy aspirations of the Smoky Tails dining experience. I would very much like to go back again and would gladly pay full price. I just wouldn't order the dishes that have the very small portions and maybe I will hold my pee and stay away from the restrooms next time!
