After reviewing many locations, our family determined that the Solutions rehab facility in FL would…read morebe an ideal location for our family member with alcohol addiction. We spoke with Dan in admissions (maybe the owner) and everything sounded great. In fact, there were many conversations with Dan from multiple family members including our family member who has the alcohol problem. However, once in the facility the "great" part started to change. Our family member has no real physical ailments but a bad hip and after the first day or so the facility contacted us to indicate that they were concerned for our loved one's health. It quickly became apparent that it was not as much that they were concerned with his health as they didn't want to be inconvenienced with someone that has trouble standing and walking (because of hip). Our loved one, was more than ready for rehab and had already gone through a detox at a hospital so they didn't have any detox to deal with. IT was all rehab related. The argument was that, they didn't have the resources to help our family member with basic things like getting into a vehicle. What? So, you tout yourselves as "the best" and "number 1" and you can't handle someone that has trouble standing, sitting and walking? We're not talking about an invalid or a violent person. This is very, very strange. How can you be number 1 and not be able to help someone with very little basic needs. Really, he didn't need any help unless they were going to make him run the stair master or something. But, now, we find out that the number one place for adult alcohol rehab can't handle the slightest physical inconvenience for our loved one who otherwise has indicated liking the facility and the patients (friends) he has made in a short time. The biggest issue we have is that this facility has talked to us numerous times BEFORE we signed up and got our family member there. In addition, they also had an interview with our family member BEFORE he went down there (he was sober at the time of the phone interview). You would think, a place with this type of "reputation" would have had no issue at all with patients that have physical impediments of all types. Furthermore, that they would have determined through all the pre- phone calls and discussions and interview that they couldn't assist this person and say so. That was not the case, everything was going to be great and they were ready for him. However, less than a week after starting at solutions our family member is being forced to move to another facility against his wishes simply because this organization is unable to assist or help our family member (who by the way was enjoying the place). We received multiple phone calls about how they didn't think they could provide help and assistance to him and that they were "concerned for his health". That was not it, the issue is clearly that they don't want to help or provide simple support. Really, there is no need for help with bathing, bathroom, eating, walking none of that....just a slow go for our relative when moving. Wow, not what we expected from "the best" more like false advertising. What kind of medical/rehab facility can't handle someone with a cane? Ludicrous. So, the lesson here is, if you are an alcoholic over 35 and male and in tip top physical shape and have insurance and no physical impediments this might be the place for you. However, I don't know of too many alcoholics that fit that category. Usually, you go to rehab because you are destroying yourself physically and financially so not sure of the types of folks that "make the cut" but we are not pleased and would not recommend going here ever. Because of the deceitful way in which this whole thing has gone down we are certainly in a better position to ask more detailed and poignant questions of a new place. I guess that's the only big positive we can take away from this place. Oh, and it apparently is in a pretty nice location.
