I recently had a terrible experience with this company. I scheduled my first appointment with the office on a Friday for a 3pm Monday appointment with one of their therapists. On Monday at 2:15pm I asked if I was going to receive a virtual link for my appointment at 3. They said that the therapist would email me the link 30 minutes prior to the meeting. So I waited... and waited... and waited. At 3:22 the therapist finally messaged me telling me that the company never informed them of our appointment and we'd have to reschedule. I was confused and told the therapist that the company told me that she as the therapist was supposed to contact me before the meeting. Then I get a call from the company. A woman informed me that my therapist had a medical emergency and was unable to attend my appointment. To which I said, that doesn't make any sense, the therapist just told me that you as the company never looped her in that she had an appointment with me. The woman on the phone said nooo that's not correct, let's just make a new appointment, what day are you available. Immediately, I did not feel respected and this back and fourth was extremely unprofessional. I informed the woman that this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will be looking for services elsewhere. Then the woman said okay and hung up. The therapist then texted me that the company didn't put my appointment on the correct date on her schedule. Which makes no sense to me. Why contact me about our appointment on a day that my appointment isn't apparently scheduled for??? Someone or multiple people were lying, I'm unsure. Please save your time and do not go here. They need to improve their custom service greatly. read more

The councilor (therapist) is very easy to talk to and asks pertinent questions to delve into the issues. The meetings are Constructive and I feel really good at the end. The office is comfortable and conducive to a good talk. read more

I went to Dr. Brent Berman for couples therapy with my husband. One of his first statements was "I don't believe in marriage, it's a trap, which is why I'm not married". (Later in the conversion he then referred to his wife, which was odd...) He seemed a little aloof, something was just off. He was also 5 minutes late to get to us and didn't mention it. We left feeling really disappointed in the lackadaisical way he acted throughout the session, as if this wasn't important. His ending question was, "so, did ya get what you needed out of this or do you need to come back?" It just doesn't seem like he should be accepting people who are searching for marriage counseling. He's probably great with addiction therapy and other avenues, but definitely not for couples. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I had an appointment scheduled WEEKS in advance and the day of my appointment i get a phone call saying someone put me in a different slot. I confirmed the text message confirmation and i confirmed the phone call 24 hours prior to the appointment. Nobody ever mentioned anything! Until i receive a call from the manager " Michelle" saying the next appointment she could put me in was a week from today at a completely different time. This isn't a nail salon, this is was a psychiatric office. I will absolutely NOT being going here as they have no respect for patients and their mental health. read more

Dr. Alexander S is quite likely the most ridiculous doctor I've ever met. He had me on a bunch of different medication's requested that I came in for a drug screening which I did pass the drug screening, and he refused to keep seeing me even though I had passed the drug screening. read more

I was treated at Dr. Balsama's Southcoast many years ago. I was always in good hands. Dr Balsama is very caring and personable.

Dr Scheuermann is honestly one of best and smartest doctors I've met and been seen by. I always say, both my mother and Dr S saved my life. My mother found south coast first and became a patient and when I needed help she knew Dr S could and would help me and she was absolutely right! I swear I was so hopeless when I first went in there and now, 4/5 years later I'm happier, comfortable, i have so much trust in Dr S. He always understands, shows empathy and knows his sh*t. It's important to me to have a doctor who's knowledgeable in many aspects of mental health not just "symptoms" and medication. Scheuermann is great at explaining what's going on in your brain, how it connects to other things going on, explains how the medication works and why he believes it would be of help but also ensures that if for some reason it doesn't or if you're not comfortable he will try something new. He's always looking at ways to help me feel my best and that's important. I can't fail to mention the receptionists as well! Each of them are so very nice and always get my messages to the doctor right away! I could write so much more but long story short.. Dr Scheuermann is an all around awesome Doc who's Great at what he does and I personally believe he could help a lot of ppl. Dr. Scheuermann is amazing! Every time I see/talk to him I feel heard/seen and cared for. He doesn't rush me to just get the appointment over with. He always asks if I have questions. He also treats me as a whole person. He is willing to work with my therapist and primary doctor so they can work as a team to ensure I get the best care available. He's a problem solver and gives me options at times- he listens to me! I also appreciate how respectful he is. He also believes me when I say something. He isn't jaded like other psychiatrists I've seen in south FL. He's been able to fit me in when I needed to see him between scheduled appointments. It is easy to get in touch with him. The receptionist, Mallory is so sweet and patient and kind. They are a good team! Even during this crazy COVID time, I have felt well taken care of. I recommend him to everyone. read more

I was at Mastermind for 5 weeks in Aug to September 2020. my 3rd rehab in 2 and a half years. I have been clean and sober since then, now 2 years and 2 months. They taught me the knowledge to do the work to maintain continuous sobriety after rehab and back home. I loved my experience there. All the staff were open warm and understanding. The psychiatrist was so helpful in establishing a medication protocol for me. I loved our counselors and the daily group activities in the facility conference room. the facility was well maintained nice and clean. I was happy with the residential setup too. everything I needed including ac, comfortable bed shower and kitchen, never went hungry. we also went to some outside meetings and the beach as a group. Mastermind is special for me and I still remain in contact with Joaquin, my therapist and the staff. I recommend Mastermind for anyone. Kevin B. read more

Dr. Scheurman is the best! He really cares about his patients and takes the time to listen to them so he can provide options that will actually help. I've seen many other provides and this has been the best experience I've ever had. VERY disappointed in Dr Sherman, the Psychiatrist for this practice. I ran out of my meds last Thursday, called the office immediately, Dr Sherman was on vacation in Colorado. I explained to the front desk that if I could just get 4 pills to get me thru the weekend I will come in early next week and see him as soon as he is back which was Monday. Just a side note, I have been a patient of this practice for over 2 decades. She placed the call, Dr Sherman said no pills he hasn't seen me in 9 months. Not true, we had a phone consult 4 months ago that's how I ended up with additional needed meds until last week. All I needed was 4 pills to safely get me thru the weekend. Because he denied my request I had a terrible weekend, I started to feel the withdraws of Effexor which is a very powerful drug, imbalance, irritability and depression etc. symptoms when you abruptly stop taking the drug. I was so upset by the lack of compassion for me , a long time patient of the practice. When I walk in there and go directly to Dr Balsama the director for a big hug and a catch up conversation. I really felt like Dr Sherman had no regard for me as his patient, almost felt like I was being treated like a drug addict, which I am certainly not. I have found another practice that made room to see me today so I wouldn't have to go thru another day with these side effects. So disappointed. read more

Anyone who gives this place 5* is pill shopping and looking to get written narcotics with no scrutiny. I was a patient of Dr. Sherman for over two years. They do not do any actual psychiatric work with their patients. When you come in with a medication issue or problem they tell you life isn't perfect, deal with it. I called their office between visits because my father was diagnosed with CTE and my mother got served papers for a legal seperation, the situation was causing problems in my romantic relationship, and my parents were getting divorced. I was a hysterical mess. I called their office balling, crying my eyes out begging for help. They told me that I had to come down to their office at 5:15 and see the dr before they could do anything. I explained to them that it is unsafe for me to drive in this condition. I explained how over the last day I had parked a publix for cigarettes and left my driver door wide open, and how when I would try to drive to work or home I would consistently pass my exit because I could not keep my focus and I felt I was an unsafe driver. I explained I could have a phone conversation with the doctor and he could assess the situation and he then if he felt necessary prescribe me medication to help me deal with the situation. I said I am begging for your help here, I do not know what to do, and am probably going to check myself into the hospital because I don't know anything else to do to get help. She said she would call the doctor but it is unlikely that he will do anything, not even give me a phone call. I then told her that I had been previously unsatisfied with his care as there has been a situation in the previous month and no one ever returned my call. I said a psychiatrist/patient relationship is about trust and if I can't trust my doctor, who I am paying money to care for my mental health, to do his job and care for my mental health, which this circumstance is extremely hard to deal with for someone diagnosed with PTSD and Anxiety, then I will seek out a different doctor because i am unsatisfied with their care. I have never heard back from them. Also, aside from this situation the doctor is generally 30 mins late, if he even shows up himself and doesn't send a replacement. He prescribed me 5000 units of vitamin D which is toxic I later found out, and only takes cash no insurance. This place is here to take advantage of the drug epidemic in south Florida. They trick you into believing you need to be on suboxone or subutex long term when the medication is not intended for that type of use. They had me brainwashed to the point that I was taking 16mgs a day and I tapered off completely with no side effects in 4 days when I was told it would take atleast a month probably longer. People actually searching for mental health and addiction help beware. This is also the same facility that Dr. James Cocores practiced out of, who got had his medical license revoked and was arrested for illegally prescribing pain medication without doing a physical exam. A sting operation was done and on 11 seoerate occasions Dr. Cocores bragged about how much money he is making off of writing his "Junkie" patients perscriptions as he became more comfortable with the officer. Although this is unproven there are also claims he made sexual advances. If this was going on in your office, directly in the next room would you be ok with it? If you want to actually get treatment for your problems go somewhere else. If you want suboxone without being asked any questions, come here. I have since changed psychiatrists to a in network doctor, am extremely satisfied with their care and even tho I have to drive 45 mins both ways to Miami instead of down the street in Boca, I am much happier, have a better relationship with my family, and no longer suffer through each day. read more
