I just wanted to write a review vis-à-vis the care I have received under Dr. Noam Koenisberg, and I never write reviews on anything or anybody--I apologize if it is long- winded, but please read through the end because it is valuable, as well as constructive for everybody who needs a psychiatrist that puts their patients' needs before bureaucratic pronouncements. I started seeing Dr. Koenisberg approximately four-months ago because of numerous concerns regarding previous care being provided to me through the West Palm Beach VA. I am a service connected veteran with a rating of 50%, who sustained injuries in Iraq. I have been utilizing VA services since I returned home in 2006, where they immediately put me on a plethora of their "default-medications," medications which they put veteran's on in a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all manner. Without any previous knowledge of pharmacology, I was a guinea pig, so to speak. Having tried all of the default medications for symptoms of PTSD--anxiety, sleeplessness, depression, anger, etc....I was a walking zombie for years. My wife and I are both professionals in our fields. My wife is a ARNP Certified nurse midwife and I am an MSW social worker registered intern. My wife has been through hell and back with me because of all of the medications that I was on and we decided that we needed a change. I researched many psychiatrists in the area and found Dr. Koenisberg. Upon meeting him, he was extremely cordial and concerned with what I was going through, not only with my time in service, but also my family, school, and just everyday life raising two children. Dr. Koenisberg streamlined my medications so I was not taking twelve different pills and listened to what my concerns were; juxtaposed to saying "here, try this..." which was the treatment the VA was providing for me. After streamlining my medications and adding a new one, I am now not only able to function in my field of practice, but also attend to my family like I never was able to in the past. I had a recent back surgery and Dr. Koenisberg legitimately cared about what I was going through and explained different medication interactions thoroughly. For the first time in my life, I feel like I finally have a doctor who actually listens to me--this is a completely new feeling due to the fact that I have been utilizing Department of Defense psychiatry, as well as the VA my whole adult life. Dr. Koenisberg not only responds to my calls in a matter of minutes, he allows me to speak to him through text message if I have any concerns. I must say, I HIGHLY recommend this man to ALL veterans, as well as civilians who need managed medication and psychiatric care, and when I say care, I do not use that term lightly. Thank you Dr. Koenisberg for helping me through such a rough time in my life and actually caring for me. My family and I appreciate everything you do! read more
