I'm an alumni and spent about 5 months at Caron Renaissance. Now that I'm on the other side and my life has drastically changed for the better it's easy to give a 5 star review. I've been to other treatment centres where they "love you till you can love yourself" but that wasn't enough for me. The Renaissance treatment team helped me dig deeper than I ever though possible (or even wished to at times) in order to tackle the harder underlying issues. They didn't let me get away with any of my lies or manipulation techniques (old addict behaviour) and pushed me to become a more humble and grateful person. It wasn't easy for me or my family and many times it was very unpleasant but it's not meant to be a vacation. Drug addiction is a horrible thing to go through for the entire family but with the help of Caron Renaissance everyone is in a better place now. I would trust them for anyone who really wants intensive treatment and needs to recover. read more

Excellent-therapist team helped me tremendously. If you want to get well I highly recommend this place. I went in 2018. A variety of addictions and issues can be addressed. ^^ Does NOT even deserve one star^^^^ The absolute worst rehab facility you could ever imagine. All they care about is taking your money. They will say anything to get you in the door. I was assured I could have my ESA. As soon as we entered the facility they told me I could not have my ESA and tried to have me board my dog. Again, spending more money. Meanwhile, there are ESA's walking all around the facility. This was going to be my second time returning to this facility and they made it absolutely impossible to receive the help I so hoped for. The attitude of the staff was a complete abomination. You would think they would take better care of their alumni. When looking for a mental health facility THIS IS NOT the place !!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!! Worst treatment center you will ever experience. read more

This place is all about money , they brain wash your kids. The blame the parents for the kids problem and try to suck the whole family into therapy . They tell you your kids need only 28 days and the moment you go in the try to keep you there for as long as you can pay. Everyone spend about 8 months In the rate of $25000. Per month. They ruin my relationship with my older daughter that wasn't the Patient. The Caron Foundation and Caron Renaissance have change my life for the better. I am forever grateful for the scholarship they gave me and for challenging to some of the sick thoughts and attitudes I developed over 15 years of drug and alcohol abuse. It was incredible all the support from the staff, I was ready to get healthy and they gave me all the tools I needed. Prepared me for how to prepare for real life stress situations with drink or turning to drugs. It has been five years and I continually give back and have seen 100's of people lives betteres. I am a parent of two Caron Renaissance patients. Save your money. I found this place to be the most degrading, humiliating, manipulating atmosphere. Unfortuantly it took the second time to realize this. As in the other reviews this is not a 3 month program. Both my family members were there for 6-7 months. During family week they were very disrespectful to my entire family and tried to pit the other families against us. It was a very traumatizing few days. I sat in on one group therapy session where the spent the entire time pitting these young adults against each other and humiliating each and every one of them. I strongly believe this place should be shut done. How it receives 4 star reviews is beyond disbelief. Don't believe them. AA saved both my family members and it didn't cost 6 figures! Saved my life! Tempany is amazing!!! It's hell while you are there but best place to save your life. I graduated about 5 years ago.

We sent a family member here years ago at a point of desperation. What we found upon our arrival for our family visit was essentially a shame factory. I have personally never seen counselors act in such an abusive and humiliating manor. They seem to be attempting a misguided form of tough love, with the delusional belief that shaming wounded people will in some way help them recover. In fact they proudly had us participate in an activity called "the circle of shame" where all the patients visiting relatives circled around the traumatized addict and told them everything they have done wrong. Completely ineffective in my opinion, when I had the courage to voice my concerns about this abusive activity, they accused me of being a "cheerleader" and said I was playing with fire encouraging those struggling with addiction to heal their personal trauma. I deeply believe, in the brillaint words of physician and author Gabor Mate, when it comes to addiction you never ask why the addiction but instead why the pain. Most in active addiction have a history riddled with childhood trauma and abuse. Addiction is often really a poorly chosen coping mechanism for feelings, memories and emotions that a person can't handle. They have not learned a better way yet, there are better ways. This establishment seems to focus on reminding you about all your mistakes instead of teaching you forgiveness, self love and compassion. We were blessed to discover the miraculous benefits of plant medicines and inner healing. My younger sister found her path to spirituality and sacred medicines, her life is forever changed and I am very grateful for that. I hope anyone looking at this review realizes there is hope, you just most likely won't find it at Caron Renaissance. read more

Caron Renaissance - Rehabilitation Center Near Me - Boca Raton, Florida

Caron Renaissance is by far the BEST treatment facility around. Not only did Caron Renaissance save my life, it has continued to support me in my recovery years later and even to this day. One of the greatest attributes Caron Renaissance offers is support for the families. When I arrived at CR my family wanted nothing to do with me (and rightly so). The focus and support of the family is such a crucial piece of the puzzle, and the staff at Caron Renaissance understand this. Today I have a beautiful relationship with my wife, son, and mother, and I have the knowledgable and hard-working staff at Caron Renaissance to thank for this. read more

In all honesty I'm pretty sure I left this facility worse than when I went in. If I didn't give them something to probe at me about they would make things up. The place thrives on drama and encourages it with patients to see how we will react and it never did anything effective. A lot of family relationships were strained because of the therapists there. They don't tell patients when they will be leaving, take all of there possessions and cut all contact with the outside world. I was massively depressed living there. I was there on a scholarship and the staff was constantly rubbing it in my face that my family and I couldn't afford $25,000 out of pocket a month. My family therapist Maggie was horrible, rude and had way too much Botox. I would never recommend this place to anyone, even rats deserve better. read more

Spent 2 months here and if you are serious about your loved one or yourself getting better this is not the place. In fact they will likely cause more harm. This place is just about the money and will attempt to keep extending your stay in order to keep the revenue rolling. They use a method known as attack therapy where they gain up on you and degrade you. They even told my wife to leave me which is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. I am almost a year sober now and it was no thanks to these people. If you need help finding a place for treatment or want to discuss my experience further please message me. It was a process but I know what it takes to get sober. read more

Difficult to read some if the negative comments since as the parent of a child who attended the program, I can say with certainty, that I felt well supported during the process by the counselors and administration. Throughout the program I learned that BOTH my child and I had to change in order for the program to be successful and for her to become healthy. Today we have a fabulous relationship and I could not be prouder of her because she has an amazing life which she earned by following what she learned at Caron. I truly believe Caron provided her with the tools to restart her life but the program can only do so much if everyone involved isn't truly committed to doing the work. read more

Don't believe the Yelp 4 star rating; there are dozens of negative reviews that Yelp filters. It looks like Caron actively monitors places like Yelp for reviews to get negative reviews removed. In my case, my review was removed the next day after I posted it. According to Yelp, it was because I had "no personal experience with Caron." This is false and a claim that could have only originated from Caron. I had to fight to get my review back up. Do your own research - there's plenty of testimony online. My loved one was in the Caron system for about 40 days. He is an alcoholic. 99% of the patients are hardened drug addicts who are beyond f*** up. Caron's philosophy involves making patients feel uncomfortable and holding them accountable for their misdeeds. The reasoning - giving an addict comfort or help feeds the addiction. Patients are in group therapy 3x/day, 5x/week, individual therapy 1x/week. That's about 4.5 hours of group therapy per day, 5x/week. Caron uses "attack therapy," where people are called out for their lies, distortions, and manipulations by other patients and counselors. My experience with Caron has been awful. They talk a lot about honesty, integrity, and personal responsibility....BUT their staff made use of manipulation and distortion to get my loved one there and to keep him there. This includes promises of individualized care, which includes special care for my loved one who has traumatic brain injury (TBI) from the Army. (Don't even get me started on their SHADY billing practices.) Some counselors are incredibly unprofessional; they evaded my questions regarding family visits and would not bother to confirm any appointments. I witnessed a counselor badger a patient she didn't seem to know into admitting he's a misogynist. A different counselor lectured me for daring to talk to my loved one's sponsor who contacted ME. They isolate the patient from the family, but this is not disclosed. They pit family members against each other. My loved one told me in a phone call that on his first day there, a counselor told him to expect to be there for a lot longer than 3 months. When I questioned this, a staff member told me that my loved one was lying to me. I know he didn't lie to me about this. Look up other reviews; this is a theme that is discussed ad nauseam. Caron's motto is "The patient is the family & the family is the patient" This is utter B.S. I got zero support from them. When I brought this up during a meeting, the counselor said "Well we didn't know you needed help." That's a sad excuse of a reply; it doesn't take a professional to know that families are in crisis when someone is battling addiction... Caron claims to be the best, and it's their damned motto. Anyways, it's been a series of excuses and manipulations from the Caron staff. It's hypocrisy on their part to claim to try to hold their patients accountable, when they can't even be accountable for their own actions. On top of that, treatment there is over $1K a day!! For that price, the patients stay in dumpy apartments in a bad part of Delray, most in shared bedrooms! They are given a small grocery budget; they do their own grocery shopping, and cook their own meals. Caron says the goal is to instill personal responsibility, but when you are offering fewer services and crappier facilities than your peers in the industry in a lower cost of living area, then maybe you should charge less (not a lot more!). 99% of the therapy is group therapy where the majority of your time is spent having to listen to asinine ramblings of recidivist addicts, most of whom are very young or have the emotional maturity of a 15 year old. Maybe if you are one yourself, you will be able to relate and it can be of help to you. I saw very little improvement in my loved one over his stay, and he credited that to AA*. My guess is that since he's in much better shape overall, he received little attention in group. This is a salient point: 40 days and $50K+ later, he basically got 1 day of detox, shitty halfway housing, ~4/5 - 30 min individual sessions, and countless hours of nearly worthless group therapy. There were no special accommodations for the TBI. Caron Renaissance is a very expensive cesspool of a halfway house; most patients are rich entitled brats and the counselors are abusive and unprofessional. They even admit patients with MRSA, and they take no special precautions. Caron staff believe that they're the best. Maybe they have helped some people, but their treatment is one size fits all and is inappropriate for a lot of people (maybe even most people). Worse; they are hypocrites for their lies and manipulation. And they are a ripoff when you consider what your patient is getting. If anyone is considering Caron for a loved one; feel free to contact me. *since leaving Caron, he's been sober for over a year and a half, due to therapy, AA, and his newfound gym hobby read more

I have been to 15 rehabs and Caron Renaissance is by far the most professional. Nothing worked for me before Caron Renaissance. I relapsed after leaving Caron, however, it was because I wasn't ready. I had to relearn how to walk and needless to say my ego was absolutely destroyed. I went from a college athlete to a non-able. The beautiful part about after I relapsed was I was finally broken enough to stop fighting and surrender; Caron Renaissance had given me the tools I needed to take my life back. I have many friends that I went through the program who were as bad off as I was and they purported that Caron Renaissance was the best program they have ever attended. So seeing people write bad reviews to me means that they behaved or carried their addiction with them into treatment. Caron treats you like an adult and does their best to alleviate precarious behavior. Someone like that also goes out of their way to bad mouth a place that saves lives. read more

While I agree with certain things said by other reviewers, Caron Renaissance can be an effective facility if the right person attends. The first thing I would like to address is the family members who are upset that they were confronted during the program. The methods that Renaissance utilizes are by no means soft, but they can work. It is disappointing that even after the sessions, family members can fail to recognize the part that they played in their child's addiction. Even more, many of them seem to be upset that they were held accountable in an environment full of other patients and families. This part of the program is ESSENTIAL; patient's at Renaissance do not have it easy, and they need to know that their addiction wasn't simply a result of them being born a piece of garbage. As a patient, you might get pit against other patients, subjected to screaming, humiliation, degradation and be inclined to tell Renaissance to go f*** itself. Despite this, you may emerge from the program and stay sober, better your life, find healthy relationships and start to become a truly functional person with a manageable life. Again, Caron Renaissance is not soft and they do things that could be considered immoral, damaging, manipulative and abusive. I do not know what Caron's ultimate objective is in each individual practice they engage in. What I do know is that the person writing this may or may not have attended Caron Renaissance and definitely has a life that seemed completely unobtainable while wrapped up in the nightmare of addiction a little over two years ago. Is this person sober because they went to Renaissance? Maybe, I don't know. They learned a lot at the Caron Renaissance that they may or may not have attended. Maybe they disliked Renaissance so much that they had to stay sober and turn their life around. Maybe it was magic, but the person is sober, thriving and doesn't feel like writing anymore right now. read more

"ATTACK THERAPY" In the interest of full disclosure I'll state up front that I was a patient (more like prisoner) at this place back in 2014 and I am not a fan of this place. If my review can stop just 1 person from going there and thus keep a dollar out of their coffers I will consider my 10 minutes well spent. Like most people I was tricked into going. To say this place was misrepresented to me is an understatement. No person will be there willingly. Just google search "attack therapy". Better yet Google search "confrontational therapy" as Renaissance prefers to call it. Wikipedia redirects "confrontational therapy" to "attack therapy"; think on that for 2 minutes before making the biggest (and potentially most catastrophic) decision of your young adult's life (90% of the people there are under 25...don't even bother sending somebody older there) I'm not going to rehash what's been said over and over again on review boards like this. If you're motivated enough to spend 20 minutes researching this place you'll quickly see why their treatment model is antiquated and stuck in the 60's. They're the therapeutic equivalent of that one last institution that still insists that minorities should use different water fountains for their own benefit. read more

My adult child addict has been irrevocably harmed by Caron Ren. Their ultimate goal is getting people to pay the very high cost of admission. Once you're in, medical and psychological care are non-existent. Dual diagnosis care is nonexistent! There is only one way conversation: do as I say! They will continually say that your family member "is not a child" yet they will yell at them like they are toddlers! Abusive and as far from evidence based care as one can get! Do not send your loved one here if you want them to get better without lifelong psychological trauma. read more

My therapist revealed confidential information to my spouse "accidentally," I was told I was "borderline" -- a diagnosis no outside clinician agreed with. I am not sure the therapist at Renaissance believed it, since they often worked through manipulation. I have talked to alums of other rehabs. They were given information on addiction pathology, 12-step recovery, and other things that would be useful afterward. Not Renaissance. I left with little idea of how to keep myself clean and sober. However, two years later I went into therapy which worked. Now that a few more years clean have passed I realize what a disservice this place did for me. read more

Caron saved my future. It was very hard for me at first because I was 18 and didnt think this should be happening to anyone my age. I got pulled out of a big college where I was having a lot of fun, but not focused on grades. My problems got worse with time and my family finally found Caron. The staff members are great. Although they sometimes can be hard on you, it is because they care a lot and they are trying to push you in the right direction. I finally have relationships with my family ive always wanted and my life is exactly where I want it, being the happiest Ive ever been. I still have strong relationships with the staff today. I am the parent of a Renaissance patient. Our .son is coming home to visit this week after seven months at Caron. The amazing turn around is not what we would have thought possible even one or two months ago. The change in our son is not only a result of the hard , uncomfortable, almost to the point of quitting pressure put on him, but changes we as a family have made. Our son is not the only one recovering from this terrible disease but the entire family is as well. My wife and i put in several weeks of family restructuring learning the tools of how to deal with our son as well as working on our own issues. The staff at Caron was tough on us. We thought of leaving during the middle of our stay but stuck it out. We were very glad we did as looking back on the experience we know it really changed us and the way we will live our lives forever. The experience reminds me of the sports adage, "no pain , no gain", if you don't work hard you wont improve. The Caron staff can be very tough at times but they have they know what they are doing. Our son recently said "although this is something I really didn't want to do I knew in my heart it was the right thing". We know this disease will be something we will be fighting for the rest of our lives for the first time we really think we can win. I cant say enough about the professionalism of the staff, their experience with addiction, their willingness to be tough and caring at the same time, Not an easy thing to do. I recommend their program , hope that newcomers can get through it as we have, and continue to use what they learned forever, read more

Ten years ago I was patient [resident] of Caron Renaissance. Last night I had one of my many nightmares about this facility which brought me to this review site to see if things have changed for the better. It appears, however, that the same traumatizing, inhuman, and degrading, experiences continue to plague CR. I was a 58 year old female at the time which entered as a supposed dual diagnostic (actually triple diagnostic due to degenerative disc disease) requiring trauma therapy for PTSD along with my addiction to pain medication. AS with other reviews, the PTSD worsened considerably during and after my stay there. Every counselor, including the trauma therapist did use the confrontational [attack] methods to control vulnerable addicted patients. Families were torn to shreds in what was their ploy to isolate and commit patients for longer and longer stays if money allowed. In many cases it did. For myself, I was originally told by my two children that I needed a 30 day plan which included AA. The 30 days stretched out to 90, and possibly in an environment whereby a patient was not harmed, 90 days would have been acceptable. But patients, including myself were subject to counselors or therapists every day from early morning to night yelling and using expletives that I had never been exposed to. My counselor at the time asked me in a group why I stayed, to which I replied, "What are my options?" - To be wandering the streets of drug infested Delray Beach or walk out into the ocean and end it. At the time I wanted my two children back so I endured it for the 90 days, but at a price. I counted down my 90 days, one traumatic day at a time. But given how horrendous my time was at Caron Renaissance, I did entertain the thought of suicide as many Mothers did there. Again, I stayed and endured this for my children. When I reached my bench mark of 90 days I felt I did everything that my children asked of me and decided to leave. It was at this time that I informed my counselor of my plans to which she "informed" me that my new discharge date would now be in 6 months, and if I didn't adhere to this my daughter-in-law stated in writing that I would not see my children or grandchildren for 18 months. I was devastated. I could not call them, and if I tried they hung up on me; I could not email them; I could not attend any school functions including my daughters senior dinner at her high school or sporting events; and Christmas and Thanksgiving was out for almost 2 years. It was crushing. When I returned home there was no food in the house, and there were yard signs laying on the floor of the garage where they were selling my belongings. But this was how my family was instructed to handle me by the Caron Renaissance staff. The next 2 years I spent in therapy dealing with this trauma which only compounded the PTSD I suffered from. And I have to add that I was not singled out at CR for these draconian methods of their treatment plan, I had witnessed everyone and their families being torn apart in this manner. I have to conclude that after an almost 10 hour back surgery and a pain management after care from the hospital that used a compassionate form of weaning, I have been off all of my pain medications. The only issue that remains is still dealing with are the nightmares from Caron Renaissance. read more

I am the parent of a Renaissance patient. Our experience was excellent and our child is nearly one year in to his recovery. The Caron team is professional, caring and talented. They provide a place for the patient and his\her family to see the reality of their situation and to see the solutions available, IF the family and the patient are willing to do the work. Are they direct? yes. Are they tough? yes. Do they make you feel uncomfortable at times? yes. Do they challenge? yes. I would not have that they change one thing. Addicts and their families have already spent way too much time deluding themselves and not facing reality. Caron cuts through all the self deception and helps you identify the path to recovery - not only for the patient but for the familiy as well. I will be forever thankful that our team of Caron professionals cared about our familiy enough to bring to bear all their expertise, experience and empathy to create an opportunity of real recovery for all of us. I must say the therapy is very good. Yet as a recent patient I would not recommend this place to anyone. The only thing that drives Caron Renaissance is their desire to generate profits. They also lied about everything. Not a single question I asked upfront was answered truthfully. Unless you want to relocate to Florida and help them make additional profits by participating in their bs aftercare program one should certainly not go. While I was there upwards of 10 people relapsed at least once, if not multiple times. There are no amenities or recreational things to do.
