Yesterday while visiting Boca Raton, we stopped into this charming gift store. It is a small to…read moremedium sized store packed to the hilt with a large variety of unusual and artistic items. I remember specifically a Flamingo umbrella near the front door that stands on its own feet. There was also an incredible collection of clocks on the wall behind the sales person. They were highly unusual and unlike anything I have ever seen anywhere else. I simply loved them and I am seriously sorry I did not take a picture of them as well as other items. But I had a good reason, or so I am saying with this excuse. I was busy choosing one of their elegantly packaged large triple milled bars of soaps from England by Michel Design Works. In the end I went with the Shea butter soap scented with Lilac and Violets. Such a heavenly scent. Expensive for a bar of soap at $11 but to quote L'Oreal, I am worth it. Triple milled soaps last a great deal longer than other bars of soap. Yup, you guessed it right, I have a high quality soap fetish! The owner of the store was extremely lovely and knew when to let you be and examine her unique collection of items and when to chime in and provide you with additional information about her products. A rare gift in most gift stores, in my not so humble opinion.

It's a big store. It used to be the old Lord & Taylor. Two floor and the day I was there the second floor air conditioning was out so definitely cut my visit very short considering it was already 90 degrees outside. I'm not sure what I was expecting. With the pricing, and with what I've read, I expected it to be on the lines of a Roche Bobois... not even close. I know this is an outlet store but if this is what they sell... it's not for me. It had a really poor selection of damaged items that are still way over priced. I was honestly expecting to see much better prices on pieces especially ones with obvious flaws and I was surprised to see brands that come from China. I know RH has membership pricing and a strong following. IMO...there are so many better options and you can probably find brand new and factory fresh for the same price or even less than the used pieces they have. Personally I will go elsewhere. - [ ]

Birch Lane, a Wayfair company, took the place of Z Gallerie which closed over a year ago. I used to love Z Gallerie, they had some really nice quality furniture there as well as a wide array of eclectic decor and art. Birch Lane is much more conventional and boring and because of size constraints, they don't have much inventory on the floor. Unfortunately, we left empty-handed, but not for a lack of trying. The staff did offer us the option of looking for other options online and having them ship it to us. However if I wanted to order something from Birch Lane or Wayfair, I could just do that in the comfort of my home. I don't need a salesperson to act as a middleman and browse the website with me. I don't know, maybe I'm just not the target demographic for this store. Overall 3 stars from me. It's definitely adequate, it just lacks flair and inventory.
