This repair was out of the blue. I found Bob on Yelp and gave him a call. He sounded honest and competent so I took a chance and had my expedition towed over to his shop. Without ever seeing him or his shop. He did exactly what he said he would do. it was fixed and ready to drive within a week or so. No issues. The GM TH 350 Transmission in our '30 Ford Hot Rod was having issues: it would not upshift, hardly at all. We left it with Bob, hoping not hear too bad ($) of news about what he found. Few hours later He called to say that it was just the transmissions vacuum modulator hose that had fallen off! He put a new one on and said that it shifted fine. Do not let these guys touch your truck!!!! They can't build a transmission to last a year!!!!!! They had 3 chances with mine and changed me for the first and the third time cause he said i was out of the 1 year !! When you go back they make excuses, blaim you .... They kept saying im waiting for a lift . I gave them so much time they dont care about you the customer!!! They dragged me along like i was begging for free work !!! Do not trust them !! I was shopping around for my transmission to be replaced which I opted for the transmission with the 3 year warranty unlimited miles since I plan on holding onto my 2002 Ford Explorer a little longer than I expected to. I am beyond pleased with Bob's work! My 4L65E transmission kicked the bucket. I pulled the trans myself I was going to rebuild it. But once I got it up on the bench I could tell someone had been into it before. I suspected, it needed more than a basic rebuild. So I called up Bob mid afternoon he told me he would have it ready the next morning. So I dropped the trans off with the rebuild kit. Bob called me back two hours later and informed me that my suspicions where correct, it needed some hard parts. True to his word though I picked it up the next morning. I've been driving it for a month now with no issues. It shifts very firm but not hard. I love towing my boat with this old rebuilt transmission. We had a check engine light appear on our car seriously right when we were going to get a smog check to register our vehicle (worst luck ever) It was a pretty scary code, (im not a car person) but it was about the torque converter. Looked up some information on that and OMG that can be a pricey problem. Called a few shops and received many different answers/quotes. I spotted Bob's Transmissions on Google and noticed how close it was to my home (literally walking distance) and thought, why not? Good reviews on both Yelp and Google so I gave him a call. He told me he could do the repair, to bring the car in and leave it for a bit. We expected to get a call saying "that will be 3,000" instead we received a call that said he had it fixed up, gave us a startling low cost and said he got it smogged and it passed. He did say that if the light came back on we would have to do a different repair and gave my husband an approximate price (still about 2-3k less than others I called) and said to come on and pick it up. I am so grateful that we decided to bring our car to him. He didn't try to sell us, didn't just jump to the big ticket repair and saved us thousands of dollars. You just DON'T find anyone like that anymore. We have another vehicle that we have been driving until it dies before going to get a new vehicle because we knew that if we took it anywhere it would amount to thousands of dollars, but we might just bring it there and see what they can do for us. Other then dental work, one of the scariest consumer decisions you can make is choosing a transmission shop. There are so many horror stories out there. After conducting research over a few days, including Yelp, I called up and Bob answered the phone. He walked me through the process and gave me a price. A solid price and not an estimate that would get jacked up at a later time. In addition to rebuilding the transmission for a fair price, and since the transmission was coming out, they replaced the rear main seal on the engine which stopped an annoying oil leak. Outstanding service! Bob is a very humble man who won't overcharge you. Very reasonable prices. I was being charged close to $2,000 at another place (not including the $119.00 they charged just to confirm required repairs) whereas Bob's transmission charged me $1,634.00 for a clutch and slave cylinder change. That's close to a $400.00 savings. I'm very grateful to have found this place because nowadays it's difficult to find a reputable mechanic and one who won't overprice the parts. Speaking of parts, they used all dealer parts on my repairs. His great service didn't stop at savings or dealer parts, I was kept informed on the status of the repairs. I was called after initial inspection, midway through the repairs (to let me know we were on track with scheduled completion/pick up date) and at the end once repairs were done. The shop is quite a distance from me so I pretty much saved closer to $300 but even then it's totally worth it. Bob replaced the transmission in my Acura (same as any Honda transmission). His price was $600 less than the dealership and $1000 less than the independent Honda shop I normally go to for all my work. He was very informative when I brought the car to him in the first place as well - I got more information about the problem and my options in 5 minutes than I had from the dealership/service shop I went to before, even though I had asked about the transmission multiple times since it seemed to be slipping over the last few months. Bob was actually the first person to tell me the specific transmission error codes that were showing in my car - the check engine light was not on but I guess there is a separate transmission error log. If the issue had been minor and repairable, I'm sure he would have identified and fixed it instead of just charging me for a transmission replacement. Most importantly, he replaced several broken parts at cost with no additional labor charge during the transmission work. I have tried to get mechanics and dealerships to combine work like this for a discount in the past with no luck, but Bob said that of course it makes sense to do it all now. He used all the correct OEM parts purchased at a Honda/Acura dealership for the repairs. I highly recommend Bob's shop to anyone who needs transmission work. read more

The automatic transmission in my 2004 Honda Accord V-6 quit on me. I came across Bob's Transmissions in Henderson on the internet. I called Bob & he was very pleasant & friendly. He replaced my transmission with a rebuilt one from a rebuilder who only rebuilds Acura & Honda transmissions. The rebuilt transmission had a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. Bob also replaced broken motor & transmission mounts & a leaky heater valve with no additional labor charges. Bob indicated that he used factory original dealer parts in his repairs.
