Silver State Auto is an excellent shop. I do not worry about price because Tyson will find the problem down to a tee. He is very thorough mechanic. Quality is high priority. He explains everything in detail and shows you the issue. I had taken my 2003 Dodge Dakota everywhere for an evap leak. He found all of them and it is running perfectly. If I could give Silver State more than 5 stars I would, no doubt! My check engine light went on and not knowing a thing about cars, I took it to O'Reileys for a diagnostic check. Once given the print out, I panicked because the thought of having to take it in to a mechanic scares me! I posted on the Nextdoor app if anyone knew of a good, reliable, reasonable mechanic that would not take advantage and try to price gouge. Hailey from Silver State reached out to me and provided her number so I could call her. I also received a referral to another mechanic who my boss told me to call but he did not make me feel very comfortable, acted like I was bothering him and rushed me off the phone so I called Hailey. BEST Decision ever! She made me feel comfortable, gave me pricing for the diagnostic part and told me to bring it into the shop. When I did, she was very friendly and explained the entire process to me. She called me that same day and gave the "bad" news and told me how much it would cost. As soon as I knew I would have the funds to fix it, I told them to do so. I received call and a text the next day from Tyson that said it was ready. When I went to pick up my car, I was given the paper. Tyson happened to be at the counter and he explained in full details what he did, any recommendation for other work that needs to be done (I knew there would be other work already), the processes for what it could be, etc. He was very friendly and nice! BEWARE BEWARE BEWAR I am a firefighter / EMT and integrity and professionalism is very important to me. I did not find that here.. I Went in to have my transmission looked at because jasper had them listed as an installer. To make a long story short. My truck left in worse condition than it went in. I paid there $165 diagnostic fee , They drove my truck around for two hours and told me everything checked out fine with it . I know my truck and know something is wrong. It shifts prematurely, at 30 miles per hour my Truck is in 5th gear and bogging down. has no power , and I hear a noise coming from the transmission. I guess mysteriously enough they didn't experience any of this. How do you not notice this ? The issue really came when they pulled my truck out of the shop. My fuel light was on E , the check engine light was on , and the low level fuel light was on. This was all not happening when I brought it to them. I'm not sure what took place while they drove it or had their computers hooked up to it but now my fuel pump sending unit is gone. There comment to me was , well there isn't much more we can do but if you want to pay another diagnostic fee we can look into it for you. Basically I paid $165 for them to mess up my truck and then they wanted me to pay another $165 to look at it again. My daughter took her Kia there for repair - they charged her for administration and diagnostic. Was 500 more than what the insurance would pay. she is a young woman and they took advantage of her. Just not right! she has farmers insurance and they took care of everything. I forgot to add that she is a server and does not have that kind of money. The administrative fees could have been waived. I've been in Las Vegas for 6 years and was taking my Saab (after a recommendation) to a different company. There's a few key points I'd like to hit with this review 1. Customer service - I've been part of an industry where customer service is a big deal (Discount Tire Co). There are salesman and then there's service representatives. Tyson is a service representative and values your hard earned money and it shows. This shop isn't looking to one up your buck and charge you extra. They're ensuring the services rendered are reasonable and exactly what you're asking for, nothing more, nothing less. With that said, you will get updates periodically from the shop on how everything is going either through text or phone call. To me, that's great customer service. 2. Quality work - when I had my Ford F-150 worked on I checked for quality of the parts installed and everything in between. The work performed was superior and my level of trust for this shop went up immensely. Having installed lift kits myself, there is a few things to look for afterword that I immediately recognized after the install. Zack did a great job and the ride was flawless. Although I have only had one vehicle to this shop, I'm confident that when my wife's car needs service they'll do a great job. I highly recommend this shop for the mentioned reasons and so much more. Update** (review changed from 1 star to 3 stars) I'm grateful to say that Silver State made an attempt to correct things with me. I will give credit where due and I did end up leaving at least satisfied this time and not upset that I had been screwed by yet another car repair shop. Just a couple hours after I left I was contacted and offered a re-evaluation on my reported issues. They had found a reset/safety button that could correct the auto roll-up issue to my window and that my car happened to be the only one of 5 diff. models to have that "auto" feature, they learned. I was also offered the topping off of my refrigerant for the AC, both of which were done and had me back home in less than an hour. I understand when they say the two systems (coolant hose repair and AC) are not connected in any way to have affected one another, so that part still doesn't make me feel better, but I am grateful that they tried to keep a customer after all and tried to remedy this situation immediately, so I hope that all customers will get this kind of care. I really did have hopes to staying with this company long term and I'm glad to be able to say I can now after this effort on their part. Original review: I really thought I had found the reliable car shop that everyone is always looking for with Silver State. I've done multiple repairs and oil changes here & wanted this to be my go-to spot. Until this latest repair... I had taken my car in to get a fix done that THEY diagnosed me needed to be fixed (coolant hose leak repair), got it done last Friday, then notice that my AC all of a sudden stopped working the next day, & my auto roll up feature on the driver window stopped working. Being as this shop is closed on the weekends, I called first thing Monday morning asking them to look at it. I took my car in right away (8:30a even, shop opened at 8am). Not even 30 mins later, and they had my car back outside and didn't fix ANYTHING! Apparently, the car I've had for more than 6 years and used that roll-up feature EVERY SINGLE DAY "has never had an auto roll-up feature on any windows" and that the AC not working had nothing to do with this last repair. How does an issue arise the day AFTER a repair was done suddenly have nothing to do with what they fixed?! I know I can't be the only one to experience this. I am super disappointed & hurt that this is how they chose to care for what was going to be a long time reliable customer as I literally told them on Friday that I wanted to keep this car forever and keep up with any repairs and that I'll "see you guys next time. I came here on the strength of Yelp reviews. We all know how difficult it is to find a good mechanic and Las Vegas is rife with fly-by-night operators and outright rip-off artists when it comes to that kind of thing. I already actually had a great mechanic but they are way on the other side of town, about as far from me as it's possible to get within this valley, and I thought I would see if I could find somebody good who was closer simply because half the time when I need to take my car in to get seen by a mechanic I really do not want to drive or tow it too far. This car (Acura MDX) is new to me, a used car, so this was its first service under my ownership. Tyson is absolutely great. The positive assessments here on Yelp are no hype at all and he definitely lives up to all of those good reviews, the best kind of PR. He's not only exceptionally affable but, even though all I needed was a straightforward oil change, it's obvious that he values customer service and giving people the best experience that they can have. He's obviously very cognizant that many people come in to a mechanic as they do to a physician -- when things are going wrong -- and that's not a nice feeling, especially so when you are possibly facing a substantial bill. He and the young man who was helping him went above and beyond. Again, I came in for nothing more than a simple change but they checked all the car's fluids and had a good look around. They noticed a small oil leak coming from somewhere up in the engine -- that I never suspected because it wasn't substantial enough to leave a mark on the pavement -- and suggested that I do a dye test and get all the fluids sorted out the next time that we're doing an oil change. He also told me that if I needed to come by to get the oil checked or anything like that just drop in and they'd do it for free. This is not, in my experience, the kind of thing that normally comes with an oil change, a fairly perfunctory service and obviously very easy for a trained mechanic. I appreciate the concern. As he said, he can work on major issues with engines but he'd prefer that we are happy with our cars and don't destroy the engines but just keep bringing them in for the easy stuff. Sounds good to me! Anyway, I totally and unreservedly recommend this business and Tyson, who runs the front and the back, as an individual. He's a very nice man and I'm confident that he's an excellent mechanic; he definitely has his heart in the right place and is very much focused on having customers who are happy. I was referred to go to Tyson by the tech at the nearby O'Reilly's who himself was impressed by the business and feedback he's received from this shop. I had to have an oxygen sensor put in to my daughter's 2010 hybrid to resolve a code. He greets you like a good neighbor and you'll feel welcomed. He was able to do the install the next day and added recommendations too on the paperwork should a future need come up, based on stored readings obtained via the OBD2 connection. A "future need" is better than a suggestive sell, which only adds to your confidence to want to come back and further support a local, honest business. Tyson and crew are awesome and I won't take a vehicle anywhere else. Extremely friendly and helpful and most of all FAIR!! They will not try up-sell you on parts or services you do not need, keeping your costs to only to what is needed to get your vehicle back on the road. Last but not least they are fast and keep you posted several times throughout your service. The only downfall is the parking lot (no place to park) and the shop it's self is a little on the small side but this keep things personal and more family like instead of a trip to a chain repair shop where you're rushed and ignored. Tyson gave by far the very best automotive repair experience we've ever had! He was upfront and honest out the gate about price and timing. However he managed to pull a hat trick out of thin air and far exceeded expectations. Not only that, but after learning of service to our country (unit patch in the car) he offered a military discount without hesitation. (Edited) With great understanding and discretion I sympathize with the Owners reply. As per the age of the vehicle it would be difficult to find readily available parts i.e. CVT transmission. Under vehicle owned warranty, I was secured a used transmission through the original seller(04/2020) that silver state replaced. Three months later (07/2020) the vehicle was experiencing similar problems. Silver states surprising reason for this was due to an inexperienced technician and the transmission was "removed and replaced" with no additional costs. With the vehicle running smoothly..shortly there after (01/2021) a check engine light would ensue as well as similar transmission problems. Taking the vehicle back an inspection by silver state would transpire; finding no immediate issues and a dodgy unclear explanation of why there might have been beforehand.. check engine light was removed by the techs and was sent on my way. Taking the vehicle back yet for a third time (04/2021) with complete transmission failure a tech would be overheard on the phone stating "WE CANT KEEP DOING THIS!". Being told told by the owner that vehicles store check engine light error codes I was hopeful in receiving news that my transmission was failing prior back in (01/2021) where seemingly the warranty would be in effect..After being bombarded with the same question multiple times by the technician and owner of, "have you towed or hauled any heavy loads recently" insinuating fault on the consumer all the while denying those claims. After two weeks of the vehicle sitting I was informed there was no warranty and replacement parts would total the vehicles value($6,500+). Leaving with a consolation prize and told to take my vehicle to the junkyard. (2004 Saturn VUE) (Professional appearance with shady tactics; while using suppliers that provide heavily used or non OEM(original equipment manufacturer) parts to maximize costs. Would not recommend. There are multiple repair shops in the same round-a-bout. do not waste your time money and energy here you will leave frustrated and unsatisfied.) read more
