First time at Bobs Taco Station. I have heard a lot about from Diners Drive-ins and Dive of the Food Network. I tried today both a Ground Beef Taco on crispy shell and Barbacoa Taco flour taco. Both were good. Good enough to make me come back in the near future Although before exiting the establishment I ran into Bob himself and he implored me to try some of the platters and Breakfast dishes. This is a really friendly establishment and has been around for 25 or so years. Really simple good ol' Tex-mex classics that will leave you satisfied. We made our first visit to Bobs Taco Station yesterday afternoon. It is a very cool setting and we were looking forward to it. My wife had the tamale plate and I had a mixed plate. We wanted very much for this food to be special, or at least very good. But it was not remarkable in any way. All the food tasted OK and the service was very good. The food tasted like any roadside TexMex place in the Houston area. We decided to buy some tamales to take home so we could try them by themselves. They are blah. I was craving some breakfast tacos, so my fiance took me here, and it was amazing! It's in a cute little part of downtown, and was extra busy! It was really nice to see a local business booming! We sat down and ordered our food, and it did take a little bit to get our tacos, but it's all homemade (including the tortillas) so we didnt mind. And you can tell it's all homemade and made with passion. I got "The John" and "The Jason" tacos, and they were amazing! I will definitely be going back. read more

I ordered the triple D special. I drive past their sign that says best Tamales in town and mumble to myself no way could they better better than my dads so I stopped in today. They are not greasy at all and I did enjoy them. My daddy's are still number 1 though. I was very glad I finally stopped to get take out here. You can actually taste what you are being served it's not over salted like other Mexican restaurants. The green sauce tasted very artificial and the fire roasted tomato salsa served with the chips were not what I prefer. There was however a small container of a red sauce that was really so much better than the other two I received. So glad to have a new lunch spot! read more

The food here is very good and we had a nice lunch. However my credit card was charged $222.25 instead of $22.25. I didn't find out until I got home when I received a fraud alert from my bank. They ran my card twice. I called Bob's taco station and spoke with Bob. I was told he was aware of the overcharge and it was corrected. It would have been nice if he would have manned up and told me while I was there instead of sweeping it under the rug. The food may be good but that is no excuse for lack of customer service especially from the owner. Hopefully it will be canceled out when the bank post transactions tomorrow. With that said, the food was really good. Started off lunch with chips and salsa. The chips were ok but the fire roasted salsa was outstanding. Smokey and garlicky, worth the 2 bucks. I was going to get the fajitas but was told they didn't have any today so I went with the Tex-Mex plate. Glad I did as everything was hot and fresh. The cheese enchilada was great as well as the tamale. The gravy went well with the whole dish. I would get this plate again. I also tried the carne guisada taco. Wow!!! It was some of the best I have ever had. The breakfast tacos are great as well. If you have room when you are done the snowcones out front are really good. The orange creamsicle is my favorite. Best breakfast tacos in Texas. Once you travel off the beaten track and stumble into this family owned restaurant, you will be in for a delicious treat. When you sit to order, you will be greeted by waiters that served me 8 years ago in high school. When you pay you can say hello to one of the owners himself. Fabulous tacos take time so if you are in a hurry order before you go. You can take a look around at all the random Rosenberg memorabilia and clever signs. I was at Sam's Club at 7:00 getting new tires. A fantastic experience that was to culminate in a couple of BF tacos. The reason for driving 11 miles to Rosenberg was to check out the new set and get BF. Guadalupe at Sam's pumped gas and I told him I'll bring him some BF tacos. Now some places you work with employees who treat you like owners. Other places you get owners who treat you like employees. And then you have this cashier at Bob's Taco Station who treats you like dirt. I got there to place a to go order for the 4 tacos. I paid via Visa and waited to one side with ticket no. 35. 36, 37, 38 but no 35. The cashier looked into the kitchen, realized they had no ticket and waited till they gave him a bag with 2 tacos each. This not the problem. It was the man and the way he spoke to me in front of everyone when he realized he was to blame. He said something to the effect that now that I had the tacos, why was I standing there talking. I should leave to which I reminded him that I was a customer and I would leave. Then he got more rude and said I will give you your money back so you are not a customer. I called his bluff and said fine. He took out a $10 and shoved it in my face. I had paid $9.82 and he said the tenner should more than cover it. I took it and calmly pocketed it. Then I told him I would call the owner and write about this as well. So there you have it. Never go to this place. The food is mediocre and their only claim to fame is DDD and Guy Fieri, who I love. read more

This place got hyped up to me by friends and family. So when I had their "Hungry-Man" tasting meal, it just did not add up. Now, perhaps I had a bad experience, but the enchiladas I had tasted like a TV dinner. The decor is very authentic. Old license plates and memorabilia from the area. The service is friendly and the restaurant was packed on a Saturday morning. I will certainly give it another try but can't seem to figure out the hype. read more

On my trip to Houston I venture out to visit a Triple D alumni Bob's Taco Station. I was amazed at how busy this place was and equally how excellent my food was. The tamale with sauce was remarkable the sauce could have be eaten like soup and the tamale was excellent too. The corn and flour tortillas are made in house (as well as everything else here). The Chicharron Guisado was made with the same tamale sauce the Carne Guisado was a brown stew like gravy and the crispy beef taco was seasons differently as well a nice touch. The TV food find deal during my travel pays off again Each dish had its own unique flavor profile all the meats were tender and cooled to perfection. The rice chips and everything else here is just fantastic. Fun and interesting junk collections is everywhere and the friendly staff makes you love all town Texas! This is your place for tacos. You can't beat the homemade tortillas made fresh. The variety offered is really nice too. We had everything from the standard sausage and egg, to the chorizo and carne guisada. Very impressed with the service as well. They were very friendly and answered all of our questions about some of the different ingredients. We stopped in during a busy Sunday morning while passing through town, but had no trouble getting a table and being served. The place is a dive, but seemed clean and neat. I've had several things from Bob's, and they've all been fantastic. My particular favorites were their Huevos Rancheros (the best I've had, I love the sunny side up egg), Carne Guisada taco, and John breakfast taco. Their green sauce is pretty bomb, too. Not only do they have great food, but it's the mom and pop kind of joint where you're pretty sure you'll run into the owner at some point and they have a cheeky sign posted that says everything is made from scratch so if you're in a hurry go to McDonald's... what's not to love about a place like that? read more

Bob's Tacos, there aren't enough good things to say about the owner and the establishment. Mr. Alanis is a huge supporter of local charities and organizations and gives back to the community. Class A act in my book. As far as the Taco Station, it's definitely a "hole in the wall" style mexican food restaurant, but we only go here for the breakfast tacos. They are simply phenomenal. Homemade, large, and fluffy tortillas served warm with any number of things you want in the tacos. Each taco is only about $2 a piece, so it's also easy on the wallet. The chips & salsa is $1.99 if you want it. I'm not a huge fan of it, but seem to tack it on the bill every time I go. Having to actually pay for chips & salsa is different, as I'm used to it being complimentary at mexican restaurants. Also, this place was on the food channel some time ago. I've never actually eaten a dinner or a lunch here, so my rating is on tacos alone...but when I'm in the area, Bob's is the only choice, every time. read more

Went there for breakfast and from the last time I was there their food quality has gone down! There were flies, their hot sauce was spoiled had to ask more than once for chips and salsa. Ordering take out is easy and fast at Bob's Taco Station! I tried The Jason taco (bacon, egg, potato & sausage) and it was so good! The flour tortilla is soft and tastes very much like homemade. The portion is big and everything is served hot, which I like very much! I also got half a dozen tamales home with me. They were equally delicious and packed with flavor! I also love the green and red hot sauce that come with it. The guy behind the cashier is very friendly and genuine with the customers. The only reason I won't be back here any time soon is because it's an hour drive to get there. Otherwise, I'd be eating here every week. The only thing we tried were the namesake tacos, and that was all we needed. Honestly, the tortillas by themselves would be enough. The chicharron guisado, lengua, barbacoa, and potato, bacon, and egg tacos were all fantastic with super tender, flavorful meat. The only thing that was a bit of a turn-off was that when I ordered orange juice, I was just brought a bottle of Minute Maid. I guess fresh-squeezed was too much to hope for. There probably will be a return trip sometime in the future since the snoball shack was closed on the rainy morning I went.. and because the tacos are so dang good! read more

I came here couples times for the tacos.. Since my friend knew it from that Guy Fieri show.. Maybe it's the reason so This place was always packed every time I came. I haven't tried other foods for this restaurant but only their tacos. We ordered chorizo and egg, crispy beef, chicharron n egg, Barbacoa, machacado ans lengua.. Kinda tried most different tacos. It's a family favourite, great food, great service, fun place to be in (lots of stuff to look at on walls about local area). However, slightly steep taco prices but everything else is way overpriced, they even charge for chips and salsa. I've been here many times with family who crave it as much as me. First off like the tortillas, that's always critical to me, they are fresh and homemade, not sure if they are made with lard, but I don't think so, sadly. Still almost the right texture I like. Try the chips and hot sauce, they are excellent, sauce is not to spicy but its fresh and also homemade as most places are, but this is particularly delectable. They have their own green and red sauce in squeezable tubes, the green is quite spicy so fair warning, but keep in mind I'm a wimp on spice, just jalapeños make me sweat. I tried the beef tongue (lengua) tacos today, most people know how good it is but if you don't, try it because it's the most tender, juicy and tastiest part of a cow I've ever had, like the softest pull apart brisket you can imagine only more of a fine-textured grain. And the sauce they put it with is killer, loaded with tons of flavour. I made the mistake of eating that first and then my bacon and egg one next so the bacon and egg seemed almost tasteless in comparison. I almost always fall into the breakfast taco trap, and they are pretty good here, eggs are a bit well done for my taste, or maybe not as moist as they could be compared to my favourites (after several visits), but that's just me, I mean how can one criticise eggs, right? Problem is the moisture that I'm used to seeing with the eggs at other places helps reveal more flavour with the bacon (but that's missing), and also there's not enough bacon and it's in bits. And I know it's 2015 and inflation bla bla bla but they charge at least 2$ for the most basic taco that's the same size and taste impact of the average local 1-1.50$ tacos. There are some really good ones like the lengua that are worth it though. Service, well that goes without saying; one of the best and consistently so, even when busy. Only knock on them is they close at 2pm, ouch. Hasn't stopped us though, and we will always continue to come here, but there are a few points of opportunity for improvement in my opinion. read more

Bob's Taco has very authentic Mexican food. They are well known for their tamales and big breakfast plates that are served all day. Everything is handmade daily and therefore you can expect a long wait for your food. And don't forget about their Sno Balls. They are definitely the best around. read more

This restaurant is decent but not great by any stretch. They have daily all-you-can-eat specials. The day I went, they had AYCE tacos. The food was fine, but the service was very poor. The single waitress was clearly overworked because the restaurant was very understaffed. Because I couldn't get service to bring more food, it really wasn't a true all-you-can-eat unless I was to stay there for a few hours. read more

This place is definitely the place to go to for breakfast tacos. They have breakfast all day long (so many choices!). They have regular tacos- basic bean and cheese. Speciality tacos- chorizo and egg, carne guisda. Chips and delicious salsa at request. Also, very yummy! They also have a special dessert of freshly made to order donut holes with cinnamon. This is a 35 minute drive for us, it used to be an hour but we made it happily when we could. No one can compete with their carne guisada tacos. Their homemade tortillas are delicious enough to eat alone. To say this place is under rated is an under statement read more
