It's hard to keep a small town Steak House running and profitable... Bob's has been here and doesn't disappoint! The owners have been life long residents of Milam County and used to run the Texan Cafe that closed after decades of great food and success. I have a picture of Mrs. Wanda Elliot... Discovered Big Bob's on Yelp. At the end of a rough road called "Industrial" but hidden location doesn't hurt it's popularity. It definitely popular with locals for good reason. What I liked: Quiet -- No piped in music. Like a family dining room where people can sit and visit without shouting. Friendly quick service -- Very pleasant staff, even to out-of-towners. Food Served Hot -- My biggest peeve at an restaurant is food not coming out hot. They passed my test. Bread -- Like Outback bread served on a board. Baked Potato -- Not undercooked and comes with the three containers toppings where you serve yourself as much as you want -- love that. Chicken Fried Steak -- not the best I've ever had but plenty good. Price (except Steaks) -- Got entree, Baked Potato, Salad and got out for $20. Reading Glasses -- Each table comes with reading glasses!! So cool! What I didn't like -- Steaks are pricey. Decided I'd grill my own for less than half the price. read more

Ordered Medium....came raw...sent back ..2 nd time was cooked to medium. upon cutting the steak had to trim off the areas where tendon material still attached. We enjoyed the waitress , she did a good job. we rated the meal at a 6...... will not go back....a 30 dollar steak was poor quality.. poorly cut and poorly cooked....Big Bob's is not a steak house. Clearly a MAGA crowd , a friend who is 65 came in with his wife, our friend has long hair. They sat at a table for 20 minutes, 3 waitresses came to the two tables beside them, and they made eye contact with owner twice....finally walked out. If your a trump lover this is the place for you. If you are in Cameron, Tx, you owe it to yourself to check this restaurant out. While travelling for business, we stopped in here for dinner and had a great night. The attached bar area is fantastically dim and divey. Service was extremely friendly. Full bar and several draft beer options are available. I started with the baja shrimp, which were extremely tasty though overcooked (to be expected when grilling shrimp wrapped in bacon). I then tried the burger with bacon, cheese and jalapenos. The burger itself tasted like it was made from freshly ground steak. This was one of the best burgers I have ever had, and that is high praise. I may or may not have ordered a second one because I enjoyed the first one so much. Prices were extremely reasonable, beer was cold, service was stellar, and the burger was out of this world. My coworkers each had steaks and were very pleased with them as well. Don't be deterred as you drive down a dirt road in an industrial area, the location is due to old prohibition laws. I eat at Nobs every time I'm in Cameron, at least twice a month. Recently on a busy night I ordered Filet with sautéed mushrooms. I was informed they ran out of mushrooms. Just so happens the owner overheard us and our disappointment. When they delivered our meals they had mushrooms, the owner had run to store quickly and bought mushrooms. Who does that, nobody! That is a commitment to customers to not only deliver great good and service but the dining experience. I tell everyone in Dallas about Bobs and it rivals the best in town in Dallas. read more

Food and specials are usually good, service is slow and so-so When we are at Bob's last night it wasn't busy, but the waitress took a while to take our order, disappeared while we were eating, my fish was burned, my husband had to flag down another waitress, who brought it back to the kitchen, then it came back after a while basically burnt again. No one checked as to how our food was either time. Our waitress and the owners were walking around but it was hard to get their attention and oftentimes they weren't busy with other customers. It was a frustrating, slow visit and I finally just walked out because my husband had already paid at the counter and we couldn't get anyone's attention. My sides were good but the waitress took the entire plate back so I was left hungry and waiting, then for another burned piece of fish. My husband and son liked their food. We were all tired of waiting so long for everything and having a hard time getting service. We also had slow service and not much attention the last time we visited. We are used to better service from local establishments and eat out often. read more

It was good with the old owners, but the new owners have made it even better. We go on special occassions and they recognize us everytime. Large salads with meals and great tasting steak, shrimp the best in Milam Country, salmon very good. Very diverse menu with the best chicken fried steak. This is a great treat. They remolded and the bathrooms are a 105% improved. They try to please.
