We ordered 3 lobsters for 5 o'clock the evening before Thanksgiving. The man who took my order repeated it so I know he understood what I was saying . My husband went to pick them up and no lobsters. Apparently whoever took the order didn't write it down. My husband had to wait 45 minutes for them to cook them. Obviously we weren't happy. They didn't even apologize. If we had ordered them for later in the day we wouldn't have had our Thanksgiving dinner because they close at 8. I want to apologize to Bobs. My husband went to another shop, thinking that's where I ordered the lobsters. It wasn't. I thought he went to Bobs. We usually get our lobsters there so it didn't occur to me that he would think I ordered them elsewhere. Miscommunication all around. Anyhow I was able to reach my husband, and he got the lobster from Bobs. I'd remove my bad review of Bobs but I couldn't see how to, so all I can do is apologize. read more

I. LOVE. BOB'S. SEAFOOD. We came here on a whim after moving to the area and while we were there, they raised an Ohio State flag. As a displaced Ohioan, *of course* Bob's called to me! And it is not a disappointment. The buckeye cocktail and boozy balls are delicious and a taste of home. The seafood is excellent, their platters don't feel heavy and oily. Prices are super fair, food is fresh. I love the menu, there is something for everyone here. My FAVORITE things are the bloody mary and onion rings though! Visited Bob's Seafood for dinner on Sunday night. They serve up a very tasty Lobster Roll in a relaxed and friendly setting. Quality: Bob's Seafood has a high quality Lobster Roll. As a big group we came on the recommendation of a local, and he could not have been more on the money. Everyone left happy and stuffed with their different orders, but it was the Lobster Roll that proved the real winner of the night. It managed to have the right temperature, consistency, and flavor, and the solid fries on the side didn't hurt either. I had bites of a few other items including the fried scallops and clams, but really it is the Lobster Roll you order here. I also got a full order of the Jalapeno Rangoons, which were spicy and crispy, but not something I would get again. Quantity: The Jalapeno Rangoons came with seven large pieces, and the Lobster Roll was very filling. Value: $9 for the Jalapeno Rangoons. $25 for a Lobster Roll With French Fries. Ambiance: Bob's Seafood is located in Windham Maine. The restaurant is quite large with two primary areas. They have their market with small casual dining area on the left. Then they have their pub with large indoor and outdoor seating areas on the right. We sat in the pub area, which was dominated by a large bar. Several televisions hung on the wall showing racing and basketball. It was late so no one was outside, but it had an interesting look filled with boulders and a patio bar. Crowd: They were busy until closing. It was a mix of folks grabbing drinks at the bar and families enjoying dinner. Newly remodeled and expanded to include a pub-like area. The seafood is amazingly fresh and worth the visit. A titch high on the price, for Maine, but I'm not going to complain much because the flavor and freshness are incredible. And that's what counts most. I had the crab meat roll. I've been here three times since they expanded. Food was fine and reasonably priced. The problem seems to be that the kitchen capacity cannot manage the seating capacity. From the time that the order was placed until we got our food was approximately 45 minutes each time. The wait staff was fairly attentive, getting us beverages right away and checking for refills. We had ordered chowder, steamed clams and lobsters. We expected to get the chowders and steamers first. We got nothing until we asked the waitress to check on our order and then we got everything at once, again after 45 minutes. If you have plenty of time to invest waiting for your meal then this restaurant is fine, otherwise consider doing takeout for your order. read more

The place is great and the service is really awesome! Very welcoming locals and a simple menu. We got the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, Clam Chowder and Steam Mussels. Everything tasted great and was above average. The reason for the 2 star review is that I believe my girlfriend and I got sick from the mussels. Later that evening I felt off, queasy and nauseous. I've eaten bad shellfish before and it wasn't horrible, but I definitely felt like I had food sickness. The next morning I felt almost like I had a minor flu, again queasy and nauseous and lacked energy. It took me most of the day to shake it off. I had some electrolytes, ate a big salad and went for a hike and seemed to work it out. Apologies for the negative review, you have a great restaurant and a great crew and great food minus the mussels. It's probably a fluke because no other reviews mention this issue. Went Saturday night first time there. No wait had a server named Derrick, he was good. Had good drinks , app and dinner. Bloody was good love the Gift with purchase, scallop wrapped with bacon and two nice shrimps. Good flavor to it. App was spicy fried oysters with scallions and blue cheese crumbles. I've been here a few times. Really good service,cozy environment. Decent size menu nothing to Fancy but everything cooked right. I had the pleasure of talking to Once of the chefs and they where really nice. Dislikes not a huge place so it can feel crowed at times. They have added a outside deck which is really nice. They have a cash bar also with a stage for live music. It's still pretty tiny outside so if you see a open table grab it lol. The background noise can be a little much due to the lack of space, not a great place for a first date. Not sure if the ac wasn't on or if they just don't use one but it was a bit hotter inside than I like. All in all though a good spot to check out good food really friendly staff. read more

We now have been to Bob's twice in the last month or so. Everything has been fantastic. My son loves the lobster mac and cheese & my husband literally thinks about the coconut shrimp all the time. The fried food tastes fresh and not super greasy which is a feat no doubt. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The owners helped me figure out a way to transport some of their clam chowder home (2 our drive) without a cooler. We will definitely be back for sure. read more

I have eaten many meals at Bob's and tried just about everything on the menu. My favorite is Lemon Pepper Haddock and it is delicious, perfectly cooked. The baked potato is drenched in butter and sour cream just the way I love it. And, of course, freshly made coleslaw is an optional side, which I always order because it's sweet and a perfect complement to the lemon flavor. Even the beer is excellent. This seafood restaurant is such a gem. My boyfriend and I came to get an early dinner a little past 4 on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, but by the time we left it was packed. The fried clam strip basket was amazing for both of us, and I got the boiled 1 1/4 lb lobster a la carte. AMAZING!! My boyfriend also enjoyed his stuffed haddock. Stopped by to grab a bite to get out of the rain while on the motorcycle, promoted by the "Taproom" sign we figured we'd give it a try. Not knowing what type of restaurant upon arriving but assuming beer and pub food we found ourselves in a seafood joint. Of course I don't eat seafood but my BF does. Now ... the sign "Taproom" is a real misnomer, I think they had maybe 6-8 beers on tap... pretty standard. When I see "Taproom" I assume the selection would be variable and vast, and although they had some decent brews available I opted for a Key Lime Martini, which was quite good. Like most seafood places in areas close to tourist locations it was slightly expensive and the portion of the clam basket my BF ordered was rather small, although he did say the clams were excellent. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was pretty standard. One thing I didn't like was the chicken breast was not pounded down to provide even cooking, therefor parts of it were very dry. Cooking 101 - whole chicken breast should be pounded out to an even thickness so it cooks evenly. French fries were ok, could be cooked a little more to be crispy but I do appreciate they were hand cut. Service was pleasant but not stellar. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. Overall it worked in a pinch and was a better option over say ... the Applebee's down the street but not a place I'd go out of my way to go to again. Decent food, slightly high prices, clean establishment and friendly service. Giving them a 4 because I'm sure their other seafood options are good & overall this restaurant seems to care about their establishment and their customers. read more

Should've just gone to our usual spot Fisherman's catch for seafood. Took over an hour (yes an hour) to get food, 3 of them were salads, not once did the "nice" waitress give updates until I asked. She also forgot our app until I asked but that's ok, not uncommon. Beer was room temp. My MIL's steak was rare though she ordered medium well. Had to return it (and still came back on the pink side) and didn't even offer to give a discount. I ordered the extra large grilled shrimp meal with fries and coleslaw, and a small plate of 5 little sautéed shrimp, a side of fries...for $15.95? I returned it and I could hear the waitress complaining about me on her way to the kitchen (next time please wait until you're out of my earshot) not a single apology for any of the mishaps, no manager. Quality of food? Extremely mediocre at best. Haddock nuggets, fried (tiny) shrimp. Nothing to rave about at all. We've been going to Maine every year for over 20 years. Entered the restaurant and attempted to approach the host stand, but another employee was standing in front of it - back to customers, talking with the host and rolling silverware. Neither acknowledged us and kept up with their chat. After a couple minutes a finally interrupted. I asked how long the wait, and she wasn't sure. "There is one ahead of you". Stood in the hallway and a young male came and grabbed up - I have a table down here I'll just bring you to. Ok - cool. Greats us with "I'm not really your waiter but I can help!" Fair enough. Waitress came over and informed us of the hour wait for food. She was sweet, although frustrated that no one had told us previously. We weren't in any hurray so we said we would wait. We split the combo which had shrimp, haddock and clam strips. They were tasty. Fries were soggy but tasty. Cocktail sauce was amazing! Had a spicy bite to it that I really enjoyed. We may or may not try it again when we are back in the area. Hopefully they outgrow their growing pains because it certainly has potential. read more

Finally got my lobsta roll and it was fantastic.  The salad, onion rings, and service were all top notch as well.

A friend suggested a stop at Bob's for lobster rolls. It was an insanely rainy drive and I got there first. The menu had a lot to offer and just about at the moment I went to order the lobster roll, I noticed a 2 lobster special for $14.99. Granted, it was JUST two lobsters with melted butter, but to be fair, add ons like a baked potato, cole slaw, fries, corn or even a small chowder, were really inexpensive. So...I settled on the 2 lobsters and waited (inside) for my friend. I could see that there was a lot of outdoor seating, some even under cover, which would be great on a fair weathered day. This was not to be on my visit. The indoor tables were plenty comfortable with a large roll of paper towels on each at the ready. Once my friend arrived and we both had our orders, everything was looking pretty spectacular. The lobster roll was $16 but looked pretty jam packed with lobster. My two steamed lobsters, by the way, were damn fantastic. They were soft shell and easy to crack. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. I will absolutely be back again. In the greater Portland area it's always tough to recommend a Maine lobster joint to out-of-towners. Typically, I suggest the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth for both the food and the location. After this stop, I will definitely add Bob's Seafood in Windham as another option. read more
