    To go orders during coronavirus
    Todd R.

Embarrassed to say I have never been here before. Recently though, I read about the struggles of the lobster industry dealing with the current crisis and heard this place was offering orders to go to help keep the industry afloat. My wife and I love lobster and figured it is ridiculously easy to support them by purchasing lobster at a fantastic price. So we headed down to Harpswell and purchased way more than we needed, but it was damn good and took us two days to finish. The lobster is as fresh as can be since it is straight from wharf. Very friendly people... we will definitely be back soon!!

I've lived in Harpswell for three years. We just found this place on the recommendation from our neighbors. Swim, collect sea glass, launch a kayak, plenty of parking. Harpswell's hidden gem.

One sentence to sum for the five star review: 1) Really good DAMN prices for seasonal seafood!!

    the roll

This is the antidote to Estes. While not as picturesque as Five Islands, Shaw's or Anna's, this was the real deal. Allen's is a little trailer style take-out place nestled into a gritty working cove on Harspwell Neck. All seating is outdoors on picnic tables, with drinks from a vending machine. You can BYOB. The food is a value and as honest as it comes. I wanted to put them in the top 3 and could have, based on lobster meat sweetness alone. The desire for anonymity prevented me from helping them to correct their only flaw: dry toasted roll! Where was the butter? Just 1/2 teaspoon of butter could have made Allen's a Hall of Famer! In late summer of '08 a crab roll was $8.95 and a lobster roll of modest proportions was $11.95. I had a buck fitty hot dog that was really good. I think it was deep fried. When on the neck I'll hit Allen's wthout fail and I'll just ask if they will butter the roll before toasting. If, upon my return I have butter on the roll I will tie them with Holbrook's for best mid-coast lobster roll experience.

Easily the most charming, personable place to buy live lobsters in all of Maine. You walk in a customer, you walk out a friend for life.

Stopped on our way to the cottage last night. 3 fresh lobsters got our vacation off on just the right foot! We'll be back for more.

New England Seafood spirals me out of course to get basic questions answered to myself of those…read moresimilar questions I ask of myself of in and what's around in the brackish deeper waters or closer to land pluff mud, all below the water and watching us walk past as the men at Casco dig in. I'm transported into a vortex of restaurant going people stuffing crustations down their grills snug in their catacomb tables, lending me to the unproven knowledge to this toil - or so it seems, that when we all eat, we might be missing a lot of what's happened to bring this meal to you. We foodies seem to always get our way - in the federal penitentiary, you never get your way, you NEVER get your (Fing) way - so please, understand that eighty five percent of the world would kill for our problems. . The frenzy and attention to the meal without the background, I think about and behaviors aren't quite unlike the gulls in the big box store lots atop the light posts, what the people do here with their face gullets plunging down and their feeding frenzies of cheap one liners. The gulls are missing their experiences because they're no longer down by the dock, they're inland - they're in St. Louis. I know first hand because I driven (not flown over or into) The Gateway to the West, I'm seeing these large birds all the time - they're are all around - I'm on their turf and we both know it. Fortunately, I've not had to throw hands with a hungry goose over an lost and unlucky little bagel. My guys whose names I mentioned in the photos and will add in, they throw down daily freshness from Casco Bay to you - buy you hesitate when buying retail seafood, you out of towners - and by "you" I am referring to Me. Let your conscience be your guide, real all of Mr. Alarming's reviews - pour it into a bottle and add some Bombay Sapphire - chug it down and partake if you are into that because you can up in here and its everywhere and it'll work up your hunger and you'll laugh a bit more than usual and if that's wrong --------- I don't wanna be right.
