    Greek orzo salad
    Jeanine N.

Stopped mid afternoon for a bite. Ate pretty good orzo salad while we waited for the lasagna which took a bit long in my opinion to come out. The top later of lasagna was all dried out so we didn't eat that. It was kind of bland lasagna. I like it more garlicky and saucy than it was. Service was great. Lots of smiling young people working there.

Good pizza. We ordered a custom pizza and enjoyed a cold beer. The service was good and surprisingly fast.

It's an interesting part of history. Road Agents Roost is an interesting restaurant. The walks are filled with memorabilia etc. The food is German. There is a nice selection of German and Austrian beers. The service is good too. I highly recommend stopping for lunch or dinner.

We were warmly greeted by the owner, who quickly sat us by the window with a view of the street (which luckily for us, featured the seasonal opening parade). The decor is purposefully dated and antique laden, almost to remind you of your grandmother's house. It was cozy and warm. Picking between specials and the regular menu was a hard choice. I would suggest finding an alternative to lugging multiple chalk boards around to show the featured sides, specials and the beer menu to make it easier for the owner and the patrons. That said, we both settled on the Schnitzel Reuben (hamburger bun with pork schnitzel, kraut, thousand island and Swiss cheese. All meals come with one side. Meals came out relatively quickly and appeared glutinous. Definitely not what I pictured in my head. The schnitzel was too large for the bun but nicely breaded and moist. The Swiss cheese tasted great but there was a tad too much, and with the kraut and slather of thousand island, it rendered the delightful schnitzel breading soggy. I would have loved seeing that sandwich on rye or at least a hearty bread that could stand up to the weight...I could only use a knife and fork after attempting to lift the sandwich one time. The devils egg potato salad was a nice portion and tasted good, though slightly under-seasoned and over dressed. It would have done better with more seasoning and/or mustard, but was a nice side overall. Biggest downsides: prices are higher than expected, be prepared to slap down $$$ for the authenticity and tourist trap location. Second, is that they charge $3 for 1 can of soda, no refills. A soda fountain would be appreciated especially after eating a lot of heavy food. Overall, a very pleasant experience and wouldn't mind trying other things on the menu if/when we come again.

Found this gem in VC walking around town mid Oct. While most of the town is closed for the season, this place is still around on random days. Leslie the owner will take your order, prep / cook your food, and bring the stuff out to you. Here are what we tried. Kielbasa dog - huge chuck of meat from Butte, home made bun. add your onion, tomato, whatever you want on it. Egg Salad on bread - fresh, so freaking fresh, Leslie will mix the salad in front of you. This is not your large batch egg salada from 2 nights ago. Any fresher, she be going to the chicken shed to get them eggs warm from the hens. Cole Slaw - more of the watery sugary slaw, no spice, salt, pepper. Just like grandma makes it for a church function. Potato Salad - THE BEST THING WE HAD. It's a bit more firm (hard) so this salad isn't sloppy soggy. More of a mustard based master piece. Chili - Beans without much filler. Mac N Cheese - Ain't your POS Kraft from a box, I had 20 USD fancy steakhouse Mac that can't do what this place can offer. Cookies - we walked in as Leslie was just pulling out fresh Red Velvet and Lemon cookies - fresh home style cookies were the game changer. Get these to go for your hikes. Chocolate with white chip Pumpkin with butterscotch Lemon Red Velvet So this place just opened up June, hours and days are still a bit weird since Leslie still needs sleep and she is doing this all by herself. Please support this local shop, we all deserve fresh home style food without some corporate overlord pushing profit and crap product for profit. Frankly, she needs to jack up the price because I have no clue what is her profit margin at this point. MUST GO PLACE.

On our last day, tired of snacks from the grocery store for breakfast, we looked for a restaurant to have a real meal and found the Deli very close to our hotel. As I mentioned, subs at lunch were great and, since they are open for breakfast, we ate there. Not many tables inside but most of their business is takeout so no issues there. Breakfast offerings are limited but great. I had a bacon/egg/cheese croissant and fishing partner had the waffles. Both highly recommended. Other items offered included omelets which we did not try. If we were thinking correctly we would have grabbed a couple subs for lunch and regretted this oversight later in the day!
