    Greek orzo salad
    Jeanine N.

Stopped mid afternoon for a bite. Ate pretty good orzo salad while we waited for the lasagna which took a bit long in my opinion to come out. The top later of lasagna was all dried out so we didn't eat that. It was kind of bland lasagna. I like it more garlicky and saucy than it was. Service was great. Lots of smiling young people working there.

Found this gem in VC walking around town mid Oct. While most of the town is closed for the season, this place is still around on random days. Leslie the owner will take your order, prep / cook your food, and bring the stuff out to you. Here are what we tried. Kielbasa dog - huge chuck of meat from Butte, home made bun. add your onion, tomato, whatever you want on it. Egg Salad on bread - fresh, so freaking fresh, Leslie will mix the salad in front of you. This is not your large batch egg salada from 2 nights ago. Any fresher, she be going to the chicken shed to get them eggs warm from the hens. Cole Slaw - more of the watery sugary slaw, no spice, salt, pepper. Just like grandma makes it for a church function. Potato Salad - THE BEST THING WE HAD. It's a bit more firm (hard) so this salad isn't sloppy soggy. More of a mustard based master piece. Chili - Beans without much filler. Mac N Cheese - Ain't your POS Kraft from a box, I had 20 USD fancy steakhouse Mac that can't do what this place can offer. Cookies - we walked in as Leslie was just pulling out fresh Red Velvet and Lemon cookies - fresh home style cookies were the game changer. Get these to go for your hikes. Chocolate with white chip Pumpkin with butterscotch Lemon Red Velvet So this place just opened up June, hours and days are still a bit weird since Leslie still needs sleep and she is doing this all by herself. Please support this local shop, we all deserve fresh home style food without some corporate overlord pushing profit and crap product for profit. Frankly, she needs to jack up the price because I have no clue what is her profit margin at this point. MUST GO PLACE.

Garbage! This use to be the best food in the county and now it's on par with the rest of the…read moregarbage in this county. New York cooked perfect, but that's the end of the positives. Zero seasoning on the steak, I should have just walked out into the nearest pasture and ate a cow. At least I know it's locally sourced. Only served with fries. Also from the same dumpster as the steak, frozen SYSCO garbage fried in the cheapest oil available seasoned with a sprig of garbage. Oh, and server claimed it was Prime, negative ghost rider, this steak is Choice, cooked on low heat so no delicious caramelized crust. More like blah sous vide. Let's rewind a bit. Our first course was Poutine. Same garbage fries, they just covered them with gravy from your favorite instant powder. The steak was tender so probably tenderloin, but the oh so familiar lack of seasoning. Betsy in the back pasture might taste better. Unable to tell if they curded their own cheese, but unlikely. Second course was a salad. Learn some presentation folks, Applebees looks more appealing. To light on the dressing, light on the beets, and claimed the beets were smoked. Zero essence of any smoke. Next course was New York, but I covered that dumpster fire. Finished with desert, Triple Chocolate cake togo and a cookie topped with ice cream in house. Ice cream was ok, maybe even from the local creamery. Cookie was clearly SYSCO frozen garbage cooked by Chef Mike aka a microwave. 1/4 scoop of ice cream to boot. The Triple Chocolate clearly a frozen undelight. Server also described it as having a chocolate mousse like feel. That broad needs to get out more and maybe experience a mousse. In summary don't waste your time and money. This place used to be a destination with the historic town being a bonus. now it's an overpriced diner using frozen garbage cooked by 1 Star line cooks. Come see Virginia City, but bring your own food in a picnic basket and enjoy your own good food and not some garbage from The Wells Fargo Bar and Grill.

If I were to have stepped back in time 100 years and had period Virginia City Star Bakery food it would have been exponentially better. Things are supposed to improve with time, experience, and technique. Not here, they take you back to the stone ages with food and service. Sat down with a joke of a server who seemed like she had never interacted with a customer before. How about a menu, how about some silverware, maybe some water, oh it's morning maybe offer some coffee. Nope, you must fend for yourself. Once we did get some coffee it was not consumable. Better off as a preservative for the decks of medieval pirate ships. Menu was a hot mess for "brunch" and priced like it was a Michelin contending Big Sky restaurant. Nope, iHop would embarrassed this joint. COOK THE HASH-BROWNS CLOWN!!! Scrambled eggs overcooked, bacon you could see through it was so thin. The only thing palatable was the sourdough toast. Likely homemade, but a 12 year old could make sourdough. And the jelly came in a plastic 1oz compote cup. Classy, real classy. Cooks and server all looked like they rolled out of bed 5 minutes prior to service. You pay at a "kiosk" prior to even getting service, so MAKE SURE YOU TIP $0 AS TIPS ARE FOR SERVICE RECEIVED NOT SERVICE ASSUMED. Save your money for subpar service and food and go elsewhere. $17 for 2 eggs overcooked, 3 pieces of thin sliced bacon, and hash-browns warmed to take the chill off but god forbid they were browned. Let's not even discuss the lack of any seasoning. But, they are going for medieval theme right?

Piecing together that this is a tourist trap town on the outskirts of YNP, I lowered my expectations to like 5/10. Believe me, this is worse than mid. We were famished driving out of Yellowstone after a long day of sightseeing, as most of this place's victims probably are. I grimly perused the menu, and ordered a burger and fries because surelllyyyyyy... they can make a 5/10 burger?! My standards were so low! The bread on the burgers was soggy and gross, the burger wasn't seared at all, and the fries were burnt. Our friend ordered steak: the steak was bright pink through and through and also not even seared... how do you mess up this badly? Do they have a grill back there?? I've cooked steak way better myself on a skillet for way cheaper. A bowl of onion rings with no dipping sauce. Salads with tomatoes sliced round- not diced. I had never seen that before in my life. Other friend got a pizza. She said it was okay, but looking at it I had my doubts. I'll admit I didn't try it because it looked like day old frozen pizza. Mind you if the total bill had been $75, then whatever we were hungry, it's a tourist trap-- No. The total for the food was $148. For 4 people. No drinks at all, just water. I'm so appalled and embarrassed because there were lots of international visitors here for Yellowstone. Probably more than usual if some stopped here during a US visit for the World Cup. They probably come here and believe this abomination is representative of American food. Shameful. I normally wouldn't bring up something like ambiance, but since this place has the audacity to charge nice restaurant prices for food so disgusting I wouldn't even feed it to a dog, the music sucks too. It was the most cliche 70s American bar playlist ever. I personally enjoy that kind of music, but here it feels like rubbing salt in a wound. Positives: Server was nice, poor guy. The French onion soup was actually nice and up to par, but French onion soup is not enough to redeem a place, especially when this place is your first stop in civilization and you're ready to chow down. Next night we skipped West Yellowstone and opted for the gas station by our Airbnb. The hours-old chicken sandwich behind glass was Michelin star compared to this.
