I had a new starter and cam shaft replaced twice within a year at Bob's. . They were non Honda parts. My car had trouble starting even after that. I had to go to the Honda dealer and have them replace those two Parts with real Honda starter and cam shaft parts. the parts BOB put in weren't talking to each other. Cost me another $ 2500. I rarely write reviews, but my interaction with Bob today has left me so bewildered that I have to in order to prevent someone else from having the same frustrating interaction. TLDR; - Rude. Zero compassion or understanding. Expects customer to ask zero questions of him prior to trusting them with their vehicle. ------------ BACKSTORY: ------------ I have an old vehicle with an intermittent P0300 (a known difficult issue to fix). I have had to replace the catalytic converter twice, and now about to be a third time. The NEW muffler shop I am going to told me that I need to have the root cause fixed first. (I am not dense - I understand this. My previous shop claimed that they did, but in reality they just randomly replaced parts and then the cat, clearly not fixing the root issue.) The muffler shop recommended two local shops (one of them being Bob's). He suggested I fully explain the situation, and had a list of questions to ask/etc. ------------ INTERACTION: ------------ When I spoke with Bob, at first the call was going great. I explained the situation. He said I could come in Monday or Tuesday. I told him I had some questions first if that was ok, and he said yes. I asked if they have the tools to diagnose, because a lot of shops (including my last one) will "fix" a P0300 by just replacing parts one by one. He was clear that they have full diagnostic tools and will never replace parts without knowing they are faulty/etc. Yay!!! (Clearly I was asking this based on my past experience, it had nothing to do with questioning his integrity or methods - just trying to not repeat my past mistakes and throwing money at the problem.) That being said, when I told him someone had said something about finding a "GM Specialist", before I could even ask my questions about if he WAS ONE or how to find one or if that was necessary/etc, he immediately got very mad and told me "Go to a dealer, I do not want to work on your car", and hung up. It was such a turn in the tone and direction of the conversation that I was absolutely bewildered! ------------ FOLLOWUP: ------------ He would not answer my call again, but when I called back on the land line and he answered, I asked him to please not hang up (thankfully he didn't). I explained that I was not trying to be rude, I was just asking the questions I was told to (because I am NOT a mechanic - obviously - so I do not know these things). He interrupted saying that "I do not want to work on your car. Go to someone else". After a second attempt at apologizing, he interrupted and said "I don't want to hang up again, but I can refuse service to anyone for any reason. Take my car somewhere else." I said that I understand (any business can refuse service to anyone for any reason - I totally get AND support that!), but I asked if he could PLEASE tell me WHAT I did or said wrong so that I wouldn't repeat the mistake in the future! I really wasn't trying to be rude, I was just trying to ask the questions that I was told to, to fix the problem that I've paid thousands for at this point! He said "I've been in business over 40 years and you are grilling me like a child, so I have no interest in working on your car. Please go somewhere else". ------------ REVIEW ------------ I cannot believe that even after profusely apologizing and explaining the reason/source behind my questions, he had absolutely ZERO empathy or understanding. I completely understand if he was having a bad day, or maybe had just dealt with a difficult customer or something, and that affected the first call...but to remain steadfast and uncompassionate after I apologized and explained myself - that is not a "bad day" reaction. This is such TERRIBLE customer service! To summarize: I was literally asking the questions I was TOLD TO by my muffler shop, and he seems to have taken them personally. I respect that you have a right to refuse service to anyone, but this was extreme. It's one thing to want to not be questioned about the quality of your work, but when someone has shelled out thousands to have something fixed incorrectly, it is SO rude to respond this way to them. My questions were clearly not indicating that his service was anything less than stellar, I was asking his business practices so that I would not repeat the same mistakes as I have with the previous shop I went to. FWIW - I also recently went to a new shop to have a diagnostic done...they charged me and told me the only issue was the catalytic converter...turns out all they did was plug in the tester and not do a thorough diagnostic even after being asked to. I understand some shops have this limitation - so I was asking those questions to make sure I would be going to a shop that would do a comprehensive diagnostic!!! You would think that he would have some compassion for the specific situation and understand the logic behind my questions for goodness sake.... read more

As a newcomer to the area I felt very lucky to have found a shop that I can trust when my truck had an issue with the transmission. They were able to fit me in super quick and diagnose / fix the problem in a day. I especially appreciated the service report and contact throughout the day as the service progressed, and the thorough job repairing my transmission lines on an older vehicle. After reading all the great reviews, decided to come to Bob's because my car was making a lot of noise. At first he says it must be the fan belt without looking at it. Drop it off, I don't even know if he even checked the car. He changes the fan belt and charges me $125. Noise doesn't stop, bring it somewhere else and after checking the car out, mechanic knew it was the Mount and had nothing to do with the fan belt. Waste of money and did work on my car that did not even need to be done. A quick $125 for them without fixing anything and replacing something that did not need to be replaced! Not ok read more

Warning- the owner is emotionally unstable, rude and aggressive. Has no idea of how to treat a customer. I had the very unpleasant experience of encountering this individual today. We have come to Bob, a few times and normally he is a 5 star buisness; however After returning from a 6-month deployment my wife's car was not starting. Pretty sure it was either the alternator or the battery. Figured it was a great to get it completely checked out in prep for my 16-year-old, who will be driving very soon. Turns out it was just the battery. We drove the car home and parked it as my daughter is still learning to drive. Bob is hands down the most honest mechanic I've ever encountered. I brought my Range Rover sport to Bob for an oil change in preparation to drive cross country alone & my two pit bull puppies. BEST car repair experience I've EVER had. Bob was so incredibly friendly and professional. We had my fiancé's car diagnosed at the Hyundai dealership and what they quoted us seemed quite high compared to the estimated costs I found in forums online. I called around a few places and found Bob's with stellar reviews, now I know why! When I brought it in they got it done very quickly, the rates were VERY fair and reasonable, and he recommended against doing one of the repairs the dealership recommended saying it would have been an unnecessary expense. In my experience most shops would she just don't it anyway knowing they could charge for the extra work. We will DEFINITELY be coming back and recommending Bob's work work going forward.
