Wrinkly balls make me sad. Having to pay $3 for wrinkly balls makes me sadder... DRINKAGE: In case you haven't figured it out, the wrinkly balls I refer to are the stale, dried up boba that I found in my Honeydew smoothie at Bobalicious. My pal Greg said his balls were wrinkly too (the balls in his cappuchino smoothie, not THOSE balls). I guess the boba place didn't get the memo - pasta, NOT boba tapioca pearls, should be al dente. While I usually spend most of my boba-drinking time trying to catch all the pearls at the bottom, both Greg and I spent most of our boba-drinking time avoiding the unfresh pearls. The only good thing about those boba balls is that we had fun shooting them at each other with our straws when we finished our beverages. The actual beverage itself was meh - not horrific, and satisfied our thirst from hiking in 80 degree weather, but was very syrupy and sweet. NOT "Bobalicious", like the name of this place proclaims. AMBIENCE: From the bright green colored tiled walls to the cheap bright Ikea couches this place screams, "High School Hangout". All them kiddies skateboarding on the sidewalk outside while drinking their boba (isn't that a choking hazard?) admittedly, made me feel old. I think this is where teeny-boppers frequent until they develop finer palates and realize how much artificial stuff was in their boba drinks. I will add an extra star because the servers were very nice and got our drinks to us quickly, but cute as that girl was behind the counter, I probably won't be buying drinks from her again. PRICES: $2.99 - $3.99 per drink, depending on whether you order the plain teas or the smoothies with real fruit. Somehow I naively thought that they would put actual honeydew in my honeydew smoothie, so if they did, the $2.99 I paid would have made the drink worth it. But, couple artificial honeydew aftertaste with wrinkly boba balls and...I dunno, maybe Bobalicious was having an off day? Even so, the biggest offense of any boba place, in my opinion, is not serving fresh boba. Seriously. The balls were more than likely at least a day old. So the moral of the story is - DON'T LEAVE YOUR BALLS OUT OVERNIGHT!!! PARKING: Is very convenient as this is in a complex. AND, it's right next to the yet-to-be-opened "Yogurtlicious", which is probably owned by the same people who own Bobalicious. Bobalicious is so bad that I'm considering going through all my reviews and changing all the 1 star reviews to 2 stars JUST so Bobalicious can be in its own category. No other business deserves to be lumped in the sorry, pathetic "business" that Bobalicious is. The workers here are so uninspired and unmotivated. Honestly, you know how you can look at someone and their attitude just tells you that they have no ambition to get through their days? That's the employees here. I came in, walked up to the counter, waited for the uninspired worker to finish playing with her iPhone, ordered my drink, watched the uninspired worker play with her iPhone as my drank sat on the counter, and finally got my drink. Side note: My doctor recently told me that I've been severely dehydrated. Bobalicious is SO BAD that I'd rather shrivel up into a little dehydrated prune than force myself to drink here ever again. Drinks here are alright. The only reason I keep coming back is for the buy one get one free deal from FiveStars. Check your email if you have a connection with them on FiveStars! There is a pretty chill vibe when you go into this boba joint. There are plenty of chairs/tables to sit at. I haven't been too observant to look for outlets so I don't know if it is a good place to study. Perhaps if you're not somebody with a power-hungry laptop like me, it'll be okay. The service is pretty welcoming and patient. They're willing to help out if you're stuck choosing a flavour. Drinks come out pretty quick. I typically go later in the day/night to avoid any traffic. It is not very busy from what I have seen. Occasionally packs of people roll in. I am not crazy about the drinks. The taro milk tea tastes kind of odd and the texture is a bit too grainy. The red bean milk tea is off as well, not sure why I got this multiple times, but at least it has been consistently off. It tastes somewhat watered down and bland. BOBA!!!!!!!!!! I have not been here in YEARS! I was surprised that the store had a huge make-over. "BOBA RESCUE" aka JonTaffer came in and raged! The menu was very attractive, not handwritten anymore w/chalk. The space is open and lively. The boba was freshly made, so still a little warm. Which was nice. I'll admit that I'm a creature of habit when it comes to boba. I never get tapioca balls, and I usually stick to mango, cantaloupe or pineapple slushes. Mango is by far my favorite and Bobalicious makes a mean mango slush. It really doesn't matter who's making it so long as they use a measuring spoon. I've never been disappointed here. Every so often I'll even take part in a game of Crazy 8's or Connect Four. Not at the same time though! It's hard for me to give any boba place 4 stars, because that would mean that their food is equally as good as their drinks. Ever since I moved to San Diego Bobalicious has always been one of my favorite boba places. I know alot of people may have had a couple bad experiences here, but honestly everytime I go and order something it always turns out great! After taking over from the spectacularly named "baguette up", a similarly named "bobalicious" popped up in my neighborhood. I came in on my lunch break got some chicken poppers, which were bomb, I have to say. Left a great impression and I decided I would go back again soon. After playing tennis a week later, I was famished. I went on yelp and saw that they closed at 10 or something. It was 9. I went for the chicken. They told me the kitchen was closed. Ok, a little early to be closing the kitchen but understandable. I worked in a similar place before and we closed our kitchen 30 minutes before closing but whatever. I wanted that damn chicken so I went two days later at 1pm on a Sunday. I order the chicken and they tell me they haven't defrosted it yet. Sorry. How long will it take? Another two hours. Get the hell out. What kind of restaurant doesn't defrost their chicken by lunch time? An older lady walks in with her kid and asks for the same thing...so I'm not the only one. I walk out with a drink that was eh and some crappy nachos. Finally, today I walk in at 2 looking for that chicken. It's a weekday. I think 2's plenty of time to defrost a chicken. If I started at 10am and blew hot breaths at a chicken, I'd probably have it defrosted by 2. I stroll right in, finally ready to have chicken. They ran out. Sorry. Strike 3. 1 star yelp review. I figure these guys don't know how to run a business, or are too lazy to shape up. Learn some supply and demand. Learn to stock your chicken so you don't run out at 2. I love bobalicious!! I have been coming here for years and I love the atmosphere and more importantly the drinks! The employees are always friendly and the drinks come out fast!! The place is always very clean and they have very modern decor. The drinks are cheap and fairly price, especially on comparison to other boba places nearby. My favorite drink is the green milk tea, but all of the slushes and smoothies are great too! You can combine flavors for 50cent extra and my favorite combo is mango and peach!!! Mhmmmm. This place is possibly one of the cheapest places to get boba in the Mira Mesa area. The drinks aren't bad at all. I must recommend the avocado shake. It was a taste reminiscent of my childhood when my dad made avocado shakes from the avocados in our backyard in Hawaii. Unfortunately, the demographics of customers tend to be in the middle- high school age range. So I feel old being there. I came here once one evening with my friend and the cashier seemed pretty rude. Under the "Milk Tea" section are listed "Green Tea" and "Green Milk Tea." Because both items were listed under the "Milk Tea" heading, we wondered if there was a difference between the two.( If in fact Green Tea is just green tea w/o milk but incorrectly categorized as a Milk Tea or if they just listed Green Tea twice on their menu.) So we asked the cashier if there is in fact a difference between the "Green Tea" & "Green Milk Tea" for clarification. He rudely tells us "Green Milk Tea has milk." And it was in a "What?-Can't-You-Read-Ya-Dumb@ss??" kinda way too. Thank you for making us feel stupid. It's not our fault your menu wasn't clear on its categorization. Geez. This is the first boba place that opened up in Mira Mesa... if I recall correctly. I have my qualms about this place. The drinks here are inconsistent (sometimes refreshing and satisfying, other times watery or powdery), the girls who work here are not very nice, boba is sometimes frozen rather then warm, soft and chewy. Oh, theres a guy there who looks really intimidating, but hes super friendly. Whenever I walk in and see him, I'm always happy because it seems like he runs the front then makes the drinks. This place is like that girl you work with...you know that girl? She's a 5/10 in the outside world, but at work..she's a good strong 8/10. When there are no girls around, she bumps up to a 9. At a work meeting she does an impressive presentation...then bam...she's a 10/10. Then you start day-dreaming about her, having a family, mom and dad will like her cause she has a decent job and is educated. So after this build up you ask her out to lunch. She says yes... you go down the elevator, get to the bottom floor, a few co-workers pass by you, giving you two the hater eye (jealous bitches)...and you walk out the door. You get in the car and visit the local food plaza. At the food plaza you notice other women, probably those working in HR, finance, administrative jobs... and you say woah (in your head). You look back at your co-worker and she suddenly drops points really fast. I'd say this is a decent place for boba in the Mira Mesa area as far as price and taste. I believe everything is 2.99 for either slush, milk tea or smoothie and you can add 75 cents to make it a large. They also so have a rewards program so don't forget to sign up. If you forget your card you can just provide your phone number. You buy 10 drinks and get 1 free. They did some renovation and it looks way better than how it used to be. Alot more welcoming and more tables and chairs. The service is alright. A lot of young people working here so you won't get thee best service. It's more like you're just in and out. It does get packed in the afternoon once kids are out of school so I suggest going beforehand or later in the day. I like ordering the honeydew smoothie with extra boba. I also tried the crispy chicken a few times served with ranch. I think the chicken is pretty pricey for what they give. They also have other food items available. I love that I can drop in here before or after my little spree at Target. Pleasant employees-- they offer samples of most drinks including the toppings and emit friendly vibes, definitely friendlier than most of the boba places on Convoy. Their classic milk tea and tapioca are solid, yet some of their other items (flavored milk teas, taro) can be hit-or-miss, although nothing terrible. I'm very picky when it comes to the boba itself, and the consistency of their tapioca is definitely on point to my standards, and for those who enjoy them soft with a chewy interior. Definitely the cheapest boba in Mira Mesa. A regular milk tea with boba is $2.75 and regular slushie with boba is 3.50! I recommend the smoothies they're made with fresh fruit. Ill start by saying I'm really no a HUGE fan of boba. There is just something about having to chew after every little sip, that bugs me lol. Ive been to bobalicious before to get a tai tea for a friend (which was really good!) but this time i actually got something for myself too! I got a strawberry banana smoothie (??) and it was soo creamy and delicious! It was the best banana /strawberry smoothie Ive ever had. There are usually a lot of strawberry seeds in shakes, but that was not the case. I barley noticed any! The boba at the bottom was a little more then id like to have in a boba drink (id be fine with 5-10 boba pearls. I just turn the rest into little squishy cannon balls. Next time i plan on getting a crazy flavor, like avocado/strawberry! The service was so great! My friend had to run out to get some money and i waited there and talked to the cashier about all the drink combination's and such, she was so nice and patient! Ambiance: This place has come along way since I've been going there in the late 90's. I like how the staff has that close knit feel, just like a family would. I saw a big game board that I think they participate in fantasy football with, it all had their names and selections per round. Thought that was cool and most the time they have ESPN or some kind of sports playing. The decor is chill too, has a lounge type of feel to it. Oh goodness, where do I even start? I've been coming to Bobalicious for as long as I can remember which would be around 2006/2007, waaaay back in middle school! Customer service has ALWAYS been great, from when I was a little pre-teen even until now in my college years! It's rare to find a place where great customer service is that consistent! Not only are the girls in the front super nice, but they're helpful and work fast! They used to have stamp cards but have changed over to using FiveStars which is great! I would always forget to bring in my stamp card or leave it in the car because I had so many different loyalty cards. Actually, Bobalicious was the first place I got my FiveStars card! They usually send me half off my drinks or $0.99 for any drink! It seems like over the years they've always been remodeling their look as well as their business model, but either way, service and food quality have never changed. Again, something that is rare! All of their menu items are pretty good. I don't think I've had one that didn't taste too great because it wasn't well made. The girls are super friendly with helping you decide, especially if you want to try something new. The nachos, fries, and spicy chicken are all super delicious. I haven't tried the other snacks so I can't really say much about what I haven't had. A couple of recommendations I have: - thai tea with ice cream - taro smoothie with ice cream blended in - thai tea smoothie - almond milk tea with coconut jelly You can also feel free to mix drinks or have any drink as a custom order. I would choose B over Tea Station for drinks, even though the cashier gives me weird looks when i ask to eliminate any added sugar from my drinks. Wow this place was kinda hard to spot. If your looking from afar the name of the spot appears to be a light purplish color and it blends with the dark brown roof. It had a green banner, but even that didn't help making this place stand out as it was squished besides two other spots. Walking inside this place was very small and it seems like a really chill spot. Their selection isn't very unique and nothing really seemed to stick out. Their drinks did seem to be priced pretty cheap so that's Gucci. This is a review that should have been written out back in the early 2000's but I didn't have a computer at home to write this yet. Anyway this place was the premier hang out spot/Boba spot for us middle schoolers back in the days. This was the very 1st Boba spot I tried and I was only in 7th grade. Aside from the history lesson, here are the details: Pros: -Their specialty drinks are ALWAYS on point. -Price and quantity is nearly unbeatable for what you get. -Outstanding customer service: great workers and stamp cards (buy 10, get 1 free). -Street Fighter arcade. I'm hooked on Boba! I was on my way to Rancho Bernardo and was craving for some Thai Tea. Sent a shout out via text and was advised that this is the spot. I don't cruise through Mira Mesa too often, followed my BB GPS and there it was. So I went in saw the menu and thought hmmm lets be brave and try something new. Okay normally, I get a drink and there is a lid, well this place had a plastic wrap on it that looks like it was manufactured but you look at it again and duh how did the ice get in there. Next how do I get the straw into the cup, duh just poke it with the sharp side of the straw. The drink was delicious, it was tasy and I savored it till I got to RB. Overall the place is connected to a Yogurt place the decor, hmmm it was odd but I'm the type to get my drink and go. It's a good thing it's not to close to me. Is this the best boba place in town? No way. Is this a boba place I'd go to? If I'm in the area, sure. Is this the cheapest/best value boba place in SD? Most definitely lol. At $3 a boba, it's hard to find anywhere cheaper, but sometimes it's one of those "you get what you pay for" type deals. You won't find any actual teas here like at Tea Station, or any non-traditional boba flavors like at Tapioca Heaven, but Bobalicious has all your standard milk tea, slush and smoothie flavors, with your basic snacks like popcorn chicken. Depending on what you get, its obvious that they use a powder base for some of their flavors, which can lead to some weird, grainy consistencies (like in their taro and strawberry milk teas) and sometimes their slushes can be overly icy or too syrupy. If I'm craving boba I'll probably stick with Tea Station but I won't gripe over going to Bobalicious either. read more

Bobalicious is in the Target and Babies R US shopping center alongside a few other shops so pretty much one stop if you have any other errands to handle as well.
