spicy popcorn chicken
Elle T.

we got a popcorn chicken which came w ranch. the flavor was good, you could rly taste the five spice. even tho we got a spicy level (which was surprisingly hot - in a good way, but we'll prob get a medium next time), the flavor still came thru. the basil was at the bottom - it wasn't whole leaves but it had a taste we liked, almost like tea. i will say some of the chicken pieces were a bit chewy, shaped long instead of bite-sized. but overall they hit the spot & we'd def come back :)

The best place for avocado shakes. They share the lot of hobby lobby so there are plenty of parking spaces available. The store is always clean and the staff are friendly. The only thing I have gotten here has been their avocado shake though. But I t is just perfect: super smooth, sweet, and freshly avocado-y! Never have any large chunks of ice in their shake, I specifically travel here just to get their avocado shake.

Has this bubble tea shop really been open under the same name and ownership for nearly 20 years? Bobalicious is tucked away in a narrow suite in the Village at Mira Mesa. I remember visiting this spot years ago, and I don't recall sugar cane drinks being part of the menu. Fresh cane stalks were on display at the service counter. Three menu screens listed the offerings... milk teas, slushies/smoothies, coffee, fruit teas, and two categories of special drinks. Oh, fries and popcorn chicken were available as token savory snacks. Between a banner posted next to the entrance and the presence of the sugar cane at the counter, I ordered a regular size CocoCane Juice which was coconut flavored sugar cane juice. The cost was $6.50, however if you wanted less ice, there was a $0.50 surcharge because more stalks would need to be extracted for additional liquid to compensate for the reduced ice level. The coconut taste wasn't as strong as I had expected, but the natural sweetness of the sugar cane was prominent. Several small tables were available for inside seating along with a couple out front on the sidewalk. I found the ambiance to be sterile, almost industrial, compared to the newer shops which proliferate every month in the SD area. Overall, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my drink and visit to Bobalicious.

Taro cookies ($7.50): too sweet
Grace L.

I got the taro cookies ($7.50) because it was one of the Bobalicious specials. I usually love taro, but this drink ended up being way too sweet for me. My friend got the avocado smoothie, and said that the texture was not what she had wanted. Also, the table was very sticky so it didn't make for a pleasant experience. My friend and I ended up taking our drinks to go because we didn't want to stay there.

Sugarcane Juice, no ice.

Not a complaint, but just so everyone can take a note if they don't want the same thing that happened to me happens to them. I ordered a regular size sugarcane juice with no ice because they charge an additional $0.50 if I wanted half ice instead of full ice. And what I received was basically half a cup, not even 70%, which I've encountered before at different restaurants/shops. To me this was ridiculous. I'm sure they have their reasons; but I won't ever come back here again and nor will I wish this upon the rest of y'all either.

I have such high hopes every time I go to Bobalicious, but I'm always left disappointed. The lychee smoothie was a major letdown -- it tasted overly artificial, with barely any lychee flavor. It was mostly ice and sugary sweetness, more like a sugar bomb than the refreshing fruit drink I was craving. The honeydew smoothie wasn't any better. It lacked the creaminess and freshness I expected and instead tasted bland and watered down. Both smoothies felt like I was drinking flavored ice, rather than an actual smoothie. The service is always friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately, the quality of the drinks has really gone downhill over the past few years. I really want to love this place, but the smoothies don't cut it.

Good boba. Comfortable seating inside. Got 50% sugar. Large is quite large compared to other boba venues. Milk teas wasn't bad. Tasted a bit like it came from powder but good 4/5.

Oreo milk shake and sugar cane drink with coconut

Stopped in for some dessert after dinner nearby and this place had raw sugar cane drinks, a classic Vietnamese drink. Service was quick and friendly. We took a seat inside to enjoy our drinks, atmosphere was nice and clean. Drinks were also reasonably priced as well!

Fair price and Supa tasty both drinks. Got sugarcane and matcha oreo smoothie. Recommend

Nice little neighborhood boba shop. It's open late at night and has a friendly staff. I haven't tried their food yet but their bobas are good.

Good prices!

First time here! The sugar cane juice sign outside caught my eye, and the worker inside offered me a sample--it was delicious! Then I noticed the well-organized fruit rack inside and found out it's all used for their drinks. I ended up getting a sugar cane juice and mango smoothie, and Nathan upgraded both for free since it was my first visit. Great service and super fresh drinks. I'll definitely be back!

Classic Milk Tea with Boba

Their classic milk tea is really good and their boba is a good quality. The drinks come out pretty quickly and their employees are great.

You can't really beat the refreshing taste of fresh fruit and nutty granola and butter. Especially when you can take this delectable bowl to the beach and just vibe in the sand. Wave Bowl $16 (14.50+1.50): 5/5 The bowl itself looks fairly small like, but deceptively so since I was stuffed after eating the whole thing for breakfast. It is higher cost than I would usually spend but I don't eat açaí bowls to know the average. Personally I really liked that the toppings were at the bottom and the bases were on top, not just because it was a beautiful display but because sometimes when it is the opposite, it can quickly get messy with toppings falling and dropping. The granola was crunchy and the add-on nut butter ($1.50) was plentiful and contrasted well to the fruits. You get some finely diced strawberries and bananas that were just the right amount of ripe, the bananas a little more firm but definitely preferred with the bases. The pineapple spirulina was favorite as it had a good sweetness to it. Honestly wished I could get a bowl with just this as a base and of course the natural blue color is just so unique. Coconut was coconutty and the pitaya was brightly colored, not too much distinctive taste on this one. Peak San Diego Experience

I'm a hater, I hate to admit it but I love un influencing these instagram/tik tok famous places. So…read moreoften they end up being a trend based on good marketing tactics which is amazing but good marketing doesn't mean good flavor and good service. In this case yes the bowl was OK was but was no better than the 3 other bowl places within a mile of this location. The wait was LONG as for many of the bowl places on this street but this one was extra long as in 45 minutes to an hour wait on off hours long. And of course with all these tik tok famous places the price was inflated. Based on taste alone I could have given this place 4 starts but the extra tik tok tax(inflated price just for being TikTok trendy) and extra wait time for the exact same thing you can get anywhere else rubbed me wrong so I'm going to have to leave this 3 star right here.

But there is a point I must remind our health-crazed population, smoothies and milkshakes are not suppose to be an addiction (medical science classifies addiction as anything you do once or more times every week). That ends the science portion of this review. I offer 5-stars for this Jamba Juice. Because even with being surrounded by enemies like, "all natural" Juice Bars, Bolba shoppes, and mom and pop's coffee shops," this place delivers and perseveres. That in itself deserves patronage, or you can go to a place that judges you as you walk in (if you're not a regular the service and quality of product never quite matches the description. And don't get me started with the picture. I enjoy Bolba, trying interesting creations at mom and pop's shoppes, and when I am convinced or looking to try something new an "all-natural," juice bar deserves a must-try. Or I can order online and get my wheatgrass shot with a perfect sliced orange in a chilled cup and lid and my drink made with coffee, chocolate, coconut water, and vitamins prepared and waiting to be picked up. I'll do that. It's hard not to get addicted.

From pastries to smoothie bowls to ginger shots and more. The place was clean and fairly quiet when I arrived. The staff helped me choose what smoothie I should get as this was my first time here. The watermelon breeze smoothie was AMAZING sweet smooth and refreshing. I noticed they have a pretty rewarding point system for those that have the app including 50% off and other deals. I will definitely be coming back.
