I love boba and actually don't know of any other places in San Antonio. Well, I found this place by accident. It's tiny and easy to miss (which might explain the low traffic, in general). The interior is tiny yet funky (in a good way), and it has a computer that you can use and some video and board games. The staff is friendly, but the drinks are just okay. First time here. It seems like a neat place to lounge around in. Couches are broken in and remind me of my parents old furniture. I love the cute names of the drinks. The boba was good. as far as the boba here, YES YES YESSSS. I would get it to go unless you need to use the Internet. (labeled as a Internet cafe) its just really small and most of the board games they have out to play (though its a good thought) have missing pieces. Everything is priced very well and with all their selections you'll never have to get the same thing twice. a good amount of people just come to pick up their drinks and leave during the week so no pressure for a quick stop. Caveat: This review is based on my experience at their old location near Babcock & 410. They have since moved and I haven't been to the new location yet, but I'm sure it's close to the same amenities/vibe/quality. I was introduced to Bobalicious a few years ago by a friend and have been back many times since. It's a small shop so it's cozy inside with a few small tables, a couch and chairs as well as a tv and a bar with a few computers if you want to pay to surf the net. As all the boba drinks are custom-made and there is usually only one employee present, you will have to wait anywhere from a few minutes to a bit longer for your drink (when they are really busy, 10-15 min is the longest I've had to wait) but the drinks are worth it! Besides there is plenty to keep you busy like reading the available magazines, playing the arcade game or board games like chess and Connect Four (personal favorite) or admiring the wall art ( i believe some of which is for sale). Or you can surf the net at the aforementioned bar for a small fee or log onto the wireless from your own laptop (I believe wireless access is free as long as you purchase a drink). The boba drinks themselves are tasty and very refreshing, especially on a hot Texas day. I latched onto an early favorite, Strawberry-Pineapple and rarely strayed from that flavor combination, but I've also tried Lemon-Blueberry, Strawberry-Orange, Peanut Butter Cup (pb & chocolate - tastes just like the candy!) and Melon-Blueberry. If you aren't feeling creative enough on your own or can't make up your mind, they have a menu board with "recipes" for popular and interesting flavor combos, like the San Antonian which is strawberry and avocado and is very good. There are also odd (to me) flavors available like Red Bean and Taro, which I could never bring myself to try, but apparently they are pretty popular. The bubbles/bobas themselves are consistently cooked near perfectly, always nice and chewy and not at all slimy. The prices are very reasonable considering that you are getting a custom-made drink that is pretty difficult to find elsewhere in San Antonio. read more

This place is really crapy inside they need to get better furniture it looks old and not clean, there was a broom out in the way, also they might need more employees service is slow. Guy also grabs your straw with bare hands not even washed his hands after he has been grabbing money. I'm giving this place three stars - Their drinks are pretty good here, usually the same guy behind the bar. Everything in the drink/food prep area looks decent. But the reason for the three stars is the facility itself. It feels & looks dirty, couches look unpleasant & old! Not inviting! I can see the vibe they're going for however it can use a good scrub! Tong's Thai was my favorite place until I found Bobalicious, and ever since Tong's changed employee's, the drinks don't even compete anymore. I have tried Boba from the following places and Bobalicious kills all of them. Tong's Thai (Austin Highway) - lots of flavors to choose from, but the drinks are good depending on the day and employee. Pho Ha Long - The waiter looked at us like we were crazy when we asked him if we could mix flavors. He did it anyway, but it wasn't all that great. However DO go for the PHO. It's to die for! Thai Corner - (Wurzbach/Fredericksburg) Their boba tasted a bit nutty which I don't care for and their flavors are limited. Swish Cafe - (Fredericksburg, in a plaza just after Cinnamon Creek) - I ordered a Pomegranite/Blueberry slush and it was horrible. The boba had absolutely NO flavor and the drink tasted watered down. Bobalicious is still my number one choice because they have the most variety and the atmosphere is just real chilled and laid back. They have a place to use your laptops for FREE wifi, an old Donkey Kong arcade game, and vintage board games like chess, checkers, and jenga. The owner is named Alex and he's great. My friend and I visited Bobalicious, and we were disappointed with our experience. There was loud rock music playing inside, and the interior was drab, so we didn't stay to 'enjoy' our drinks. The flavoring was very artificial - no fresh fruits were on the counter. All the flavors appeared to be taken from sugary syrups. This is the second best Boba I have found in San Antonio. This first best is from "Asia Market" grocery store on Wurzbach and Bandera (sooo sweet and creamy!), but they only make bobas when they feel like it. About 40% of the time when you go in there will they make you one. Not much english is spoken there, so I'm not sure why they only make them sometimes. It's hard to cook tapioca pearls (known as "boba") well. They should be soft on the outside but chewy in the center when you bite into them. This place makes them just about as perfectly as you could hope! There are more flavors here than most boba bars I've been to, but the basic green milk tea here is good without any syrup frills. I visited Bobalicious on my first visit to San Antonio in December 2006 when Bobalicious was located on Callaghan Road. I went about 3 times during my one week visit. When I came back to visit another time in 08 I was glad to hear that they were moving into a bigger place nearby. The new place is about double the size, but I don't feel the ambiance is the same. The previous place was more colorful and was always, "bumpin,'" if you will. A reason for this might be because now they are inside of a shopping plaza and not totally visible as you drive by? It still has artwork, board games, and internet access and it seems as if there are more flavors, and they've expanded into adding more choices with your drink such as adding soy for about an additional 50 cents. My usual order is taro with extra boba, sometimes with a scoop of ice cream. The drink usually comes out to over $5 so I don't go too often anymore. I would suggest bringing back the customer appreciation card as was done in the old location, please! read more
