I gotta keep it real:…read more Finding good AZN food in Monterey County is like unicorn hunting. You'll have an easier time finding a sugar daddy (or mama) at Pebble Beach or Carmel by the Sea. Judging by the name and playful monkey mascot, Cong N Go may not look like a spot serving up seriously delicious and flavorful SE AZN cuisine BUT they are! Owned by two Cambodian sisters, one holds it down in the FOH while the other is cheffing it up in the kitchen. Indoor seating but they have dog-friendly outdoor seating upon request (two tables). F O O D * Sach Ko Jakak: Cambodian Beef Satay (3 pc-$14) The marinated, tender beef skewers were sweet-savory with aromatic lemongrass flavor and nicely charred, slightly crisp edges. I forgot to ask if they offer sticky rice but it would've been the ideal accompaniment. * Fried Chicken Wings w/ jeow som dipping sauce, rice ($18) Perfectly done, the massive whole chicken wings were shatteringly crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. The "crack sauce" (jeow som) was bright and punchy, hitting all the right notes...salty, tangy, sweet, garlicky, and slightly spicy. Served with steamed rice and fresh veggies. * Kuy Teav Cha: Cambodian Stir-Fried Noodles w/ pork, shrimp ($18) Savory, slightly sweet, and umami, the soft, chewy rice noodles came with tender pork, shrimp, and a boiled egg. Raw bean sprouts, cilantro, green onions, and peanuts brought welcome freshness and crunch for a well-balanced dish. S E R V I C E Friendly, attentive, and prompt. Even tho we were the only ones outside, I appreciate that Thea checked on us and kindly offered water to my dogs. A M B I A N C E Casual, modern with about 8-10 tables inside. Overall, Cong N Go is such a gem in Monterey County for deliciously satisfying and flavorful SE AZN food. Def recommend if you're coming from the SF Bay Area and craving AZN comfort food during your staycation. As I was leaving, I was eyeing their housemade pandan coconut chiffon cake in the cold case...which gives me an excuse to return!

I happened to overhear the owner David talking to the clerk about his newest menu item, Korean hot dogs. He proceeded to describe them as Mochi dogs. I thought "Well I like Mochi, and I like hot dogs". As David passed by I asked him where his restaurant was and he pointed out the window as it was just across the parking lot. I came out to the car and suggested to my husband we go try the Mochi Dogs and he thought that was a good idea. We came in and David recognized me from the bank. He is a very friendly guy, and very helpful with explaining the drinks menu as there are lots of choices. He also offered choices for the Korean Hot Dogs: All dog, or the dog with cheese and the breading can also include potatoes. We opted for all dog and plain breading. I ordered a drink with Boba, light ice with almond milk and Thai Tea flavoring. I had the option of really sweet or less so and I chose the latter. I think I might order the more sweeter option next time. There was about a 10 minute wait for the dogs to cook so I sipped my drink while we chatted. The hot dogs were hot (very) so you know they were freshly cooked. Nice and crunchy, served on a stick. Ample size and I would imagine with the cheese and potatoes added they would be very filling. The bill came to $29.00 with a tip added. I think the cost was reasonable for a unique type of fare. Two drinks, and two dogs. I plan to bring my Korean friends to try the Mochi like fried dogs and see what they think.

Wanted to stop by this place before our long drive home…read more I liked the set up of everything. It was spacious, a little dark/ moody, with some cool things to look at. Their service wasn't the greatest. The girl who took our order seemed like she was struggling a little that day. And the guy (Max?) was pretty rude. The drinks weren't the greatest. I had the Pandan one. It was the color of the Hulk, and was on the sour side. Not so much Pandan flavor. The Avocado Toast was good, but some parts were a little too salty for my liking.

It arrived nice and hot, so I let it cool for a bit before taking my first sip. What stood out immediately was the natural sweetness--it was flavorful, smooth, and perfectly balanced. When I got home, I added just a splash of cream, and it took the coffee to the next level. It was absolutely delicious and exactly what I was craving. The only downside? One cup wasn't enough! Next time I'll definitely be ordering a second cup because this café de olla left me wanting more. If you're a café de olla fan, this spot is worth the trip.

i was really hoping this spot would be good because their photos and drinks seemed aesthetic and…read moreyummy, but it was not the case. the cafe itself is very small and chaotic. there's hardly any room to order let alone sit and wait for your order. if you're looking to chill for a couple hours here, palomas cafecito is NOT your place. there's like one couch, a mirror, some fake plants, and like 3 chairs. it's really small and seems more like a grab and go spot! also, where you order is where you'll pick up your drinks so that is also a bit chaotic. the drinks were not a strong suit.. my friend got a classic vanilla iced latte and that tasted "burnt" where i got the banana bread iced matcha with biscoff crumbles on top. everything SOUNDS really yummy and they don't charge for different toppings which is nice, BUT it does not live up to its standards. with a banana bread matcha, the flavors do really have to mix well and my matcha was actually very chalky and didn't mix well with the banana cream. i thought it was interesting that my matcha could be chalky despite asking for almond milk so something tells me, they have no idea how to make matcha and it's not your ceremonial grade one. overall, it's not a spot i would come back to. i hope they can perfect their menu and business but it's just not for me. personally, i wouldn't recommend "trying it out" either.

We have been going to Noodle Bar (NB) for a few years now. They are still in a very narrow strip…read moremall with somewhat limited parking, but we have been able to get a spot every time. The area is still pretty sketchy and since COVID there is still no seating at the restaurant so plan to get your food to go and take it back to a safe place to enjoy it--we do not recommend eating in you car. We tried that before and the homeless people walking by made it super uncomfortable. On this visit, a guy who belonged in a psychiatric hospital was yelling so loud while crossing the street that two of us left NB to go outside and see what the problem was--just a sick man yelling so went back inside. Despite all that, NB does great business, and as other Yelpers have noted, NB food quantity is still very good for the price. Prices have gone up but not as bad as elsewhere and it is still a good deal for what you get. The food quality really depends on personal taste. We live in San Gabriel, so there is no shortage of stellar Asian food there and NB cannot compete. However, we really like NB's curry chicken. Their noodle dishes really vary in quality, but none of them are bad, all are at least ok, and some are good. This time we also got a chow mien. It was basically fried ramen noodles, not chow mien noodles. It was not stellar, but hey we still liked the flavor and enjoyed it. We tried for the first time the catfish nuggets. It is basically what is called salt and pepper fish filet elsewhere, but with catfish at NB. It's fried, salty fish so what's not to like. It comes with what appeared to be sweet chili sauce, but we did not try that. Business was so good that after trying to call in our order twice, which we definitely recommend doing, no one answered. We drove over and put in our order in person and saw that they were super busy--the lady taking orders missed at least one call in just while taking our order in person. Her and the people cooking were working super hard--massive props and respect to them for working hard to create a successful and long standing business in the community. We will definitely be back again and definitely recommend you give them a try. I believe the only or best (lol) menu photos were the ones I posted about 3 years ago and so I am posting and update if those with this revues and to their business. Last thoughts, they are cash only so come prepared, they have boba drinks, and they have dessert (never tried that). Give them a try!
