I've gone few times and never gotten bad service. We usually stare at the menu for a number of minutes, after a few they'll ask if we're ready, then give us ample time to finish dawdling on their huge selection. I LOVE their coconut smoothie. The soursop was good too, but I have a soft spot for coconut. My son tried their tropical blend and it was tasty. My mom had the mango and was very satisfied with it. Always had cash on hand to pay with, so no complaints about extra charges. read more

I would have given Boba Smoothies 5 stars, if the price was lower. As of today, with the 8% tax included for a large tea ice blend, is $4.86. Besides the price, the boba [tapioca pearls] is the best boba I have tried here in Ventura County. It is not too chewy/soft, and not too hard [sometimes], and they add honey, which is a perfect little sweetener. They have solved the employee and wait situation that these reviewers have complained about, they know prices from the top of their head, have great cooperation with each other, and take less than 2 minutes to take my order and give change back all together. I do not understand the bad reviews. People either have no taste in boba, or they order the wrong drinks. Of course not EVERY drink is going to taste as good as another, they all vary. People need to give this place a few tries with different TYPES of drinks... tea, coffee, ice blend, fruit. One drink or 2 doesn't cut it. Been here a few times and love it! Fresh fruit mostly, there are a few that are frozen fruit. The boba is delicious. Of the few I've tried the coconut, peach/mango, and avocado have been my favorite so far. The staff is friendly, and will answer your questions if you ask. read more

Most recently, I went about 30 minutes before closing while they were busy and the 2 employees worked diligently getting all the drinks out; I was impressed. The smoothies are pretty good. They aren't as creamy as others but they do have good flavor. They have a very large selection of different fruits and flavors. You can get your smoothie with or without the boba on the bottom of your glass. I like a small amount of the boba but after a while it overwhelms the flavor of the smoothie. read more

Based on my experience and the reviews here on Yelp it is precise and accurate describing the lack of customer service here. There is a young asian guy and asian gal behind the counter whom appeared to be siblings and a family owned business. I ordered a drink and went sat outside due to the small inside space was crowded as people were waiting for their drinks. After less than 5 minutes I went back inside and sat down and I didn't see my drink on the dispensing counter. No one asked if i was waiting for a drink. 2 more people came in after me ordered and got their drink. I approached the counter and asked the guy if my drink had been made. He looked around and found my drink in a shelf behind the dispensing counter. All he said was "i called out the drink once". No apology was acknowledged by the guy and i took my drink and left. I was thinking what an incompetent person and service. So because they called my drink out once that mean their duty is over? They didn't put my drink on the dispensing counter and instead they hid it on the shelf behind the counter. They couldn't be bright enough to realize i was sitting waiting for my drink while there was a hidden unclaimed drink behind the counter. I realize this is a small business and not Starbucks but i didn't expect the 3rd world country customer service level. I will go to the other Boba shop Bigstraw going forward. read more

This place makes good boba. Only real complaint is that these people need to smile a bit more and be a little less rude to their customers or sound less rude. I know it's odd telling someone to change the way they speak, but the way they were asking me," What do you want?" or "Are you ready yet?" kind of rubs me the wrong way. Service is aweful. It took five minutes to get the correct change. They messed up the order and wouldn't correct it. As far as the product goes, its hit or miss. I make my own boba sometimes, and I can tell they re-heat the boba so its old and not fresh. The difference is old boba is harder and sticks together. Even the actual drink is miserable. Hands down the best boba smoothie. This is my own personal hidden gem, but it seems that only people who had a bad experience write reviews, anyways. The fruit taste like real fresh cut fruit. The boba is always soft and has a brown sugar taste. I'm like how it's not too sweet, you taste the flavor of fruit first. Of course I like extra boba, which is free of charge! No other place gives you free extra boba! I highly suggest their fruit flavors, I've had nearly all of them. There is a menu right when you walk in that has single flavors on the other wall there is a mixed fruit smoothie menu, those are very good too. My favorite flavors are jackfruit, passion fruit, tarro, lychee, avocado, for mixed fruit flavors my favorite is mango peach. I would suggest to stay away from the coffee and chocolate ones those don't mix with boba well in my opinion. I was visiting my hometown on new years day and really wanted Big Straw but was disappointed to find they were closed. Found this place and decided to try it despite a lot of bad reviews. The boba had an awful taste and my drink was just as bad. Within minutes it was separating and looked like barf sitting on top of dirty water with gross boba on the bottom. I feel bad for giving this place only two stars, especially when the workers were super friendly during my visit, but the drinks were lacking. My boyfriend took one sip of his coconut with boba and trashed it. I ordered the mango green tea, which wasn't bad at all, but the boba was awful. I ended up trashing mine after a few sips.
