As expected, the restaurant was crowded. After thirty minutes, it was hard to find an available table. Food is ordered at a counter, then a waiter takes it to the table. Portions were large. Fried rice tasted just right. It was piled high and I special ordered it without peas. It was prepared correctly. Five stars! Pot stickers were good. 4 stars. My wife had beef chow fun and that was five stars and the portion was large. Self serve soft drinks are available with unlimited refills. Strongly recommend this for anyone who likes good Chinese food. Our bill with tip was over $60. No sales tax in Anchorage.

My step dad really enjoy his cheese roll which I didn't get to but I dropped about $85 on food. although we had good service I cannot recommend anything I tried other than the wings. My partner liked the bread part of the steam bun but the filing was extremely underwhelming (bland). My mom said the restaurant was really good years ago and it's been recommended to me by someone else too. I can't say the bakery isn't good, but at least the restaurant food was not worth trying I got dumplings, greens (#11), sticky rice (pork), steam bun, Mongolian beef, wings (unseasoned, however crowd favorite), fried wide noodles.

Both were quite good, comparable to what we get in the San Francisco area. We also got the roast duck over rice from the regular menu, two types of egg custard tart, taro boba, and a berry smoothie. All of these were very good, with just a quibble that the rice under the duck was not very freshly cooked. We had not encountered the butter egg custard tart before, it was very good as was the traditional version. The staff was great too, attending to everything cheerfully while doing a very brisk business.

Wei Restaurant has a beautiful, modern interior that feels elegant and inviting. The décor is…read moredefinitely the highlight of the experience and creates a lovely atmosphere for dining. Unfortunately, the food did not match the beauty of the space. We ordered the 9-grid sampler, and it was disappointing for the price. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, the edamame was plain, and overall the sampler felt more like a Costco-style appetizer assortment than something you would expect from an upscale Chinese restaurant. The presentation was nice, but the flavors were underwhelming. The Dongpo Rou was probably the most flavorful dish we ordered and the standout of the meal. It had more richness and depth compared to the other dishes. However, the beef rice noodle soup was a major disappointment. For a dish that should have a comforting, aromatic broth, it lacked the savory depth and flavor I was expecting. It felt very flat and left me wondering where the flavor was. I was especially excited for the pork xiao long bao, but unfortunately that was another letdown. The dumplings kept sticking to the container, causing them to tear and lose the soup inside. The whole experience of a xiao long bao is enjoying that flavorful broth held inside the delicate dumpling, so having the soup spill out before you can even eat it really took away from the dish. The service was pleasant, and the restaurant itself is beautifully designed, but at this price point, I expected much more attention to both flavor and execution. Wei has a gorgeous atmosphere, but the food needs more refinement and consistency to match the elegance of the space. I hope they continue improving because the potential is definitely there.

At first glance you may question entering this restaurant as it appears quite shabby from outside. Not a lot of seating inside but it was very clean. We ordered family style. You have to specify how spicy you want your dish...otherwise it's prepared very spicy. Very flavourful and well prepared. Service was quick and staff were attentive. Bathrooms were also very clean. Had an adorable toddler potty in there even. Prices seemed a bit high at first but they have big portions and we had plenty of leftovers to take home for another meal. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Orso was one of the few nicer restaurants in Anchorage that was open on a Sunday so we headed there after a very long day out at Seward. We arrived around 7:30pm. It wasn't super busy so we were seated immediately. Our server suggested some drink options based on what we liked (me: gin; my husband: bourbon). They were very good. We got the calamari appetizer - I loved the artichokes and thin lemon slices added in, plus both fried and fresh calamari in the dish. I got the Parmesan crusted halibut and my husband ordered the halibut with diavolo pasta. Both were very good. My dish came with asparagus and mushroom risotto; the risotto was pretty salty but still good. The fish was cooked well and I enjoyed it. Overall we had a very nice dinner at Orso, and I'd recommend if you're looking for a more special dinner. As I mentioned it was later on a Sunday so not busy - so the atmosphere was pretty quiet and the ambiance was cozy.
