I really am a big fan, maybe the biggest fan of libraries. As I type this, I believe that it is…read moretime to renew my card. I hope I get a nicely designed-card this time. There are so very many perks to having a library card and I want everyone to have one. I love books, reading, writing, learning, words, and all of that so it is obvious that I am biased. However, on the flip side of that accessibility is really important to me in all facets of life. Speaking of accessibility, when I think of books I think of accessibility. We deserve knowledge and information that is free. Don't get me started yall, too bad I have already started. Libraries give us access to knowledge, education, and community and to me that is freedom. "HAVIN FUN AINT HARD WHEN YOU HAVE A LIBRARY CARD" is a remixed version of that saying, and I am not yelling with the caps, I am passionate. Having a library card, in my opinion, is top-tier. Elite, if you will. I frequent this particular library in Cinco Ranch due to the proximity, helpful staff, and resources available. I spent a lot of my waking hours here during grad school and I miss that. These days, I pop in to pick up my holds, browse the shelves quickly, and dip. Get a library card if you don't have one. Yes, it's free. Bring in some mail that verifies your address. My dream job is in a library, although I do not dream of labor. So if you're the hiring manager and you're reading this- hello? :) Go check out some books!

There was also a woman in the library talking on her cell phone loudly for a long time and the staff said nothing to her about it. What I was doing, throwing garbage into a garbage can, wouldn't have bothered anyone and nobody would have even noticed but they let that other lady break the library rules with impunity, bothering a lot of people. They need to get their priorities straight over there as far as customer service. Maybe pay more attention to what's going on in the library instead of staring at the security camera for the back break area making sure nobody contaminates their precious garbage can with... garbage. And I for one question their authority to do so. I doubt it's illegal to throw garbage into that garbage can. They have a sign that says staff only parking but it doesn't say staff only garbage. Sometimes petty bureaucrats imagine they have more power than their actual authority and some people need to learn the difference between being a petty bureaucrat and being a library, need to learn their job. But if they are correct and that's only their precious garbage of the precious staff is allowed to go into that garbage can, maybe that policy needs to change. We should be grateful when people put their garbage into any garbage can because otherwise who knows where it might end up. Don't mess with Texas!

Spacious and filled with many resources for community members, students, and library card holders. I've been to this location many times. During my most recent visit I stopped in to pick up my Summer Reading Color Our World prizes! I stopped by two information desks and eventually they informed me that I needed to go upstairs. Once I made it to that desk, the ladies were helpful. I'll be sure to take a picture of my rewards for the Grown Ups Reading Challenge. I received water bottles, sticky notes/flags/pens, drawstring bag, and pen pouches. Defintely worth stopping by and joining the reading challenge! If I'm in the area this is a library I'd return to.

There's plenty of seating inside. Computers were also available to use for up to four consecutive hours once I obtained a library card and number to sign in. If you need to charge your phones or electronic devices, there are plenty of outlets available. There's first come first serve study rooms for those that do require more concentration. For a person who loves reading books for learning and for pleasure, this place was great. I haven't combed through a physical book in a long time, since we have pdfs and Kindle apps on our iPhones. But, this library was refreshing. They even have manga books translated to English. Here, you can borrow any book from and return it to any fort bend county library in 21 days. That's awesome. In addition, they have study rooms here and computers for kids to play games on. On their website, FBC libraries also have book clubs you can attend or reserve new books that are released to borrow. Not sure how long it takes for anyone to actually get a new book, though. Plus, it's relatively quiet here, so I feel extremely productive when I'm here to do any sort of work. My regret is that I didn't find this spot sooner. They're even open on Saturdays if you need to work on some things. Logistics-wise, this library is actually located within the UH-SL campus. When you enter, the library is on your left side. Just follow the signs for library parking. Since I went during post-Hurricane Beryl, the gate lever was open to the parking lot. However, during normal business hours, you need to take a ticket before entering the lot and validate your parking ticket with the library staff before you leave the library parking lot. Overall, I will be coming back here again when I need some quiet time or work done.
