Mixed experience. Staff was neutral, signed us up and got us a library card. No tour of library or warmth with staff. Library was underwhelming as it is small and doesnt have much. The positive is that is does have a lovely yard out back. read more

This Harris County Public Library Katy Branch is located on Franz Road. City of Katy Dog Park shares the same ample parking lot to assess its huge park. This location offers used books for sale to support the library in the lobby along with its restrooms. There's a Help Desk manned by friendly supportive staff as you enter to accommodate visitors. In case you want to roam solo, there's prominent signage to guide your path. The expansive library offers something for everyone if you choose to visit for an hour or all day. A nice community library in the area! It's not big nor too small so the size is perfect for family or visitors around here. They have good amount of computers, tables/chairs to sit and read/work so it's very comfortable and good environment! Also, there's a play ground on the outside it's nice that kids can play over there while adults are reading and watching over them over the window! Staffs will welcome you when you enter! I like it! I went to the library for the first time yesterday and was very pleased with the experience I had. Before I start my review, the only thing I should mention is that on Wednesdays, the library doesn't open until 1:00pm. I didn't know that and had to sit in my car for half an hour. And there were quite a few people hanging outside the front doors waiting to get in. But it's not a big deal. I've been spending some dimes on books lately so I wanted to sign up for a library card to save some money on books. Signing up was very fast and easy. They're selection of adult fiction books isn't bad but it isn't incredible. They could definitely use some more donations...especially of newly published books! But, after only going through the first two aisles of books, I managed to leave the library with 4 books to check out! So, obviously I found some things that peaked my interest! Checking out books is super easy...just scan your card and each book on one of the front computers and that's it! And I love how you can renew books/movies online if you need them for a longer period of time. I'll definitely be doing that because it takes me longer than 2 weeks to read one book. Anyway, I'll definitely be back here often and will be donating some books as well. I'm glad Katy has such an awesome library that is so close! read more

I love this Library. I attend it regularly with my daughter who is soon to be 2. They have an excellent selection of books for kids. It's great to be able to read to her every night and read different stories for free. I also appreciate being able to check out books for myself and/ or rent movies. The staff members are aways very pleasant and helpful. We are signed up for the summer reading program again. You should sign up too! Highly recommend this branch! read more

It is a library! How could you not love this place? Funny fact, they sale VHS tapes here! There are so many things for you and your children to do here. Wide variety of materials and programs designed to let the entire family have fun. Don't believe me?!? For that teenage kid, bring them in for the IPAD arcade night. Have an Anime freak in the household, there is an Anime club here! Snake exhibit will happen shortly for kids of all ages and those young at heart! Programs that include food even. This is one of the coolest libraries in the Houston surrounding area. Stop by and pick up a schedule and see the multitude of activities that are planned for almost every day of the month! You should see the prizes they are giving away for those children that are being summer readers. Fun the whole family, and really a wasted opportunity to have good, clean, free fun in air conditioning if you don't show up! There is even an honor system book sale as you walk into the door. Just pay for the books you want...or VHS tapes! Book clubs, technology helps sessions, laptops for loan, free wifi and much, much more. Give this branch a chance. read more

First visit to the library and it was fun. It reminded me of my childhood days (minus the fleet of computers). (^-^) I actually visited HCPL's site first prior to arriving - http://www.hcpl.net/ . I was able to register for a temporary card # and set my pin number. I gave this information to the lady at the front desk. Within a few minutes and some things to fill out and sign, we were off to a good start. I hunted down a few books that I needed for school. Sparse selection in my own opinion but at the same time, I do understand that they have to be selective as well. Nevertheless, I checked out with 4 books... LOL! You can't take the nerd out of me especially when I saw all the NOLO books lined up. (^_^) With the dawn of the Internet, libraries have had to evolve with it. HCPL is affiliated with a multitude of scholarly databases which I am loving. The announcement board was full of activities to come which I found fun. Not that I would personally go but I can appreciate the functionality of a community service for those who wish to join. A few things for improvement is to crank the AC up. They have up to 30 computers scattered all over the place and most of them were filled, not to mention those who brought their own laptops *raises hand*. I don't like the thought of having to breath some stranger's warm exhalation. That is what happens when you have free Internet. The space is not necessarily huge for a library so it was a bit stuffy with the lack of air circulation and ventilation. The reading area outside does need a bit of sprucing up... It was meh... so so. read more

Signing up for a library card was easy. The librarian was friendly and mentioned briefly how it worked. Nice to know I can borrow a book or media and return it to one of the other public library branches in Harris County and that my card works at the other branches too. Also nice to know I can check up to 75 items although that's a bit too much. The place is clean and well lit. I was able to find a small couch chair near the periodicals to read some books and browse the internet on my laptop via wi-fi. read more

What kind of library opens at 1pm? We drove a while to get here just to be disappointed.

This is our neighborhood library and has been a consistent source of entertainment and/or education for our family. I personally love the Wednesday knit/crochet group they offer. My daughter loves all the summer reading challenges and just enjoys the selection of books and magazines. We have attended basic Excel classes here and the instructor was very good. I can't express how nice it is to have these resources for free and they are done so well. Visit your local library, people! You won't be sorry. read more

I am only reviewing the Monday baby story time. It was fun, enjoyed the parachute! I do not care for the reading off a paper, I like the story times with already Known rhymes and songs. My baby enjoys it, plus its good socialization for us. read more

This is a good library. The staff is helpful and it's pretty clean. Lots of computers to use as well. Easy parking and close to the school my kids go to. We use it about 2-3 times a week. It has plenty of comfortable chairs and tables to have the kids do their homework on. read more

Very nice toddler program, excellent stories and songs. My granddaughter loves coming here .

We have really enjoyed attending the Katy library branch. The staff is great. Library itself is nice. They also have lots of activities to keep your toddlers busy as well as the adults. read more

The Katy Branch is a great library. Clean, staff is always super helpful, and a fantastic selection of books for kids, teens, and adults.
