Its' very loud to where you'll get a headache from the SCREAMING, NON-STOP. The head librarian is horrible. No common sense. The other librarians are rude too. They allowed a guy in the library with bags of weed out on the table where he's destroying the computers by down loading malware gaming. They don't care. He said he was giving them weed, that's why whenever he came in, they'd run in back and bring out hand full of treats for him. He even vaped in library and they did nothing. His name is Jarrett, white guy with blonde hair and good friends of librarians Jen, Charlie (a woman Liberian) and a few others. He even held up bags of weed at the front desk with Jen THEY SHOULD BE FIRED! AND HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED. IF YOU SEE HIM, GO RIGHT NEXT DOOR AND TELL THE CONSTABLES. KIDS SHOULDN'T SEE OR SMELL WEED, ESTPECIALLY IN THE LIBRARY. PLUS, what's also gross is the librarians allow people to eat in the library. There's an Asian woman who comes in and will sit by other people and take out a bag of "CHOMPIE FOOD" its disgusting. she does it the whole time she's at the library. I've NEVER been to a public library that allows weed to be smoked / sold and that allows people to CHOP ON FOOD FOR HOURS. The male director over all the libraries is not doing his job! he needs to fire the librarians at this library, everyone of them will lie, treat some guests mean, they lie, and do drugs according to Jarrett, who should be arrested as should the librarians who are doing drugs and allowing Jarrett to do drugs and to blow his weed smoke on other people at the library. It's especially great for those with small kids, they have a dedicated area on the first floor for small children to have fun, including a computer area as well as well as a play area with children's toys. I often see many families take their kids here on the weekend to read and play. They also have planned activities throughout the week such as story time for kids of all ages. We applied for a library card here and the process was seamless as well. Overall a great library, highly recommend for everyone in the community!

There is a large selection of books, so it's a great place to browse. They just had an outdoor story time yesterday for babies and young kids, and it was really well executed. The youth librarians involved were well prepared and engaging, so it was a fun time for both kids and adults. Parking is plentiful and free (unlike at the University Branch Library, where parking has to be validated if it's over 1 hour and you risk getting a ticket if you park in the wrong place).

However, the second…read moreday I came to this library trying to use the internet to make payment online taking instruction over the phone at a very low voice, a staff (a full-size lady) told me "get out once you finish the call". The following 3 weeks I went to the library everyday, and found many people talked over their cell phone inside the library loudly, looking for a job or an apartment, for 5-10 minutes. Nobody ever come to advise them to "go out" or "keep it down". Even that full-size lady chat and laughed with her coworkers loudly, for hours. So why did she target me?

They do have a few computers for the teenagers and some for children. Thirdly, they do have a wide variety of books for every language you can think of and oh, the ladies restrooms were clean. Those are the only two good things about this library. This is the second Houston public library I've been to that were very limited with spacing. It seems that Harris County libraries are a lot more open with spacing and accommodate to the needs of the patrons.

I checked out a book called Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls by T Kira Madden. Looking forward to reading it this month for pride. This library is spacious. Computers, reading pods, and a few tables. I believe there's a separate open reading area too, but I did not venture into that space. Additionally, I saw some stairs so there is something upstairs that I'm not sure about. I loved seeing the Pride Month display with several curated books for representation. Looscan Library is charming in a vintage, historical way. There are plenty of open spaces, private rooms, and cozy nooks to settle into with a book. On this visit, I was excited to find a fill-a-bag book sale--an unbeatable deal. $5 and you can fill the bag (they provide) with as many books as you can fit. While nothing caught my eye this time, the selection had a little something for everyone. Printing and information stations are easy to access, and the overall space feels welcoming and home-y. Its Westheimer location makes it an easy five-minute stop from home. With all that sunlight streaming through the building, it's definitely going on my libraries to work from home whenever I need a break from my own place!
